Gaga at the Gogo..that's my favorite line of the song...saw hair on stage and man what a trip...those days will never come back...the 60's were insanely eventful and changed so many people's lives ...for the better and some for the worse....

Saw them in 69 with mama and all the kids, a great show. They said that they had to cut the verse because of the Jesus/Mary line, then they played the entire version. They also did a great cover of Honkey Tonk Woman!

@BFritz3000 that comment official makes you a Re-Re. if you dont like a song dnt watch the video. this song made history. its been loved by millions since WAY before you were alive. keep it to yourself.
WOW, how good was that. This sounds awesome, these guys are pros. Talk about hitting home. Is that bob cowsill singing the main vocal and whos drumming. Need to know who the drummer is.
Better than their studio recorded version..this song made us won in a band contest in the early 70's..took my breath away watching this clip and reminiscing the days we practiced especially the harmony of the background voices/notes
Awesome to see the Cowsills...the 2nd verse is from the original song..Gaga at the gogo...think some of the words back than wouldn't have made air play , so they repeated the verse again...
Ugh. I absolutely HATE these TJ Lubinsky shows. They have all these great bands but then they absolutely RUIN the sound in post. They re-record the stuff in a studio (sometimes using parts of the ORIGINAL[!] recording) and dub over very poorly edited applause tracks. Then they sync it up to footage they shot in Lake Tahoe and make it a TV show. TJ should present an HONEST LIVE performance instead of some hatchet job. I can understand fixing a few bum notes but his methods are just WRONG.
geeze Bob, I had such a kid star crush on your little sister many years ago. p.s. say hi to Susan, (my wife thinks I have gone nuts too)
@Panda704 gaga= Ga Ga, amazed, crazy something like that. gogo= Go Go, a 60's dance event. The 80's equivalent would be spun out at the disco. I don't know what would be said now :-)
@BaatProductions well, if you were born in 1940...you'd be quite old and possibly less able to enjoy the music now! i often thought i was born 10-15 years too late too cause i love 1965-1970 music.
Until I was this video I never knew they were singing "oh I do love my hair" as the backing vocals. I've always thought they were just singing "ooooh aaaaaa, hair." Now in the privacy of my bedroom when I'm singing the background part I'll finally be correct-LOL.. And if I'm not mistaken -they are using the lyrics from the original stage version. Thanks for the post. They still sound great!!!

Yes, this is great. A few years ago I stumbled on a band that Billy Cowsill formed in the 90's, the Blue Shadows. Excellent stuff. There are some videos here on You Tube of that band. They all have great voices still.

MP, my wife had the same experience as you due to chemo. At first she was alarmed, but after awhile she got used to it. Months later she said that after her hair started to come back in she would still shave it bald as it was a lot less trouble that way. Well, it's been three years since chemo, and she did let her hair grow back. Maybe this song is what inspired her to keep it, lol.
THIS IS MAH FAMLY!!! I am a proud cowsill! if you ask me, I can anme evryone of em! and, if you email any of em, ask: do you know Leah? they would say yes!
I was seventeen or eighteen when Hair hit the airwaves. I look at little Susie differently now. She's very pretty. Don't know when they did this but they still have talent. Real talent. Most old groups embarrass themselves on stage. They took me back and the Cowsills did themselves proud.
This was great, thanks for posting. When I was about 11 or 12, in around 1969 or 1970, the first concert I ever saw was the Cowsills, followed by Tommy James and the Shondells, at the U.S. Naval Academy with my brother!
I notice that alot of 16- 22 year olds are growing the freak flag....great sign that the bush conservative years are waning.......kids are sick of all that shit! Rebel kids!!
I love these fine people!!!! God Bless the Cowsill Family! I truly hope that music in this country and the world for that matter will get back to the innocent essence of the Cowsills! TY for posting this Bob!
Dang, they sound good but didn't the eldest brother Barry pass on?

I was seventeen or eighteen when Hair hit the airwaves. I look at little Susie differently now. She's very pretty. Don't know when they did this but they still have talent. Real talent. Most old groups embarrass themselves on stage. They took me back and the Cowsills did themselves proud.

that verse was in the play but cut from their original

The verse has always been part of the song. I think they were told to leave it out so they didn't offend anyone. It's my favourite verse in the tune.

This was great, thanks for posting. When I was about 11 or 12, in around 1969 or 1970, the first concert I ever saw was the Cowsills, followed by Tommy James and the Shondells, at the U.S. Naval Academy with my brother!

To answer your question about that verse, radio stations didn't want songs longer than three or four minutes long.

"Gaga at the gogo??? Do I hear a brand new verse added in? "
hardly...that IS the song verse from the original version.
Lady Gaga is NOT, and NEVER will be anything more than a bastardized version of Madonna....and i'm no Madonna fan.
(just in case you were referencing Lady Gaga)
