  • Used to love playing this on the Amiga.

  • Old school game

  • the theme song is also a song from the SNES game Top Gear!

  • @meganico98 are you implying that this track is from Top Gear ? if so Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge came two years before Top Gear ;)

  • @dbnstrikeman - Yes, don't get the Amiga and Genesis (Mega Drive) versions mixed up, as Lotus 2 on the Amiga is basically Lotus 1 on the Genesis, and Lotus 3 on the Amiga is basically Lotus 2 on the Genesis!

  • @dbnstrikeman peasoup was awesome :D

  • 6 of them NEVER play this!!!! sorry guys....

  • Lotus Challenge, FA/18, Another World, Xenon II, eee they don't make games like them any more. Amiga... The Daddy!

  • When you pop in a racing game now it don’t show you all the specifications, how it performs and dimensions like this, this is like what you see at school.

  • @mmonicque Aside from gran turismo, yeah

  • How good is the music?!

  • @j00ztube Well, you got your awesome bass, so I suppose the rest of the music is pretty nice...

  • GREAT best game ever

  • I remember getting the RAM Upgrade for my Birthday so I could play this on my A500. Well worth it!

  • @wadeuss lol. same here.

  • @wadeuss You didnt need the upgrade for an A500 to play this, i had a standard A500 and it worked perfectly. The only reason i got the (ridiculously expensive and awkward to install) upgrade pack was for "Gunship 2000" when it came out. another brilliant game on the Amiga!!!

  • @Mac11irl - I remember vividly that this game wouldn't play on my Amiga without the upgrade. It would play fine a standard A500+.

  • @wadeuss Maybe mine was the A500+ ill be honest, i was about 7 when we got it and never took any notice! Got the 1.5Mb ram upgrade pack, there was an upgrade pack that just went into a side opening, and one that had to be installed into the bowels of the machine... we could only get the latter in Ireland! totally worth the hour it took me an my dad to do it though! at the time though, having 2Mb RAM was Mad.. My dad had an orignal IBM XT pc at the same time, the Hard Drive had a 38Mb Capacity..

  • @Mac11irl - Ahh yes, the good ole days. I remember also getting the Action Replay for my A500. It was great to hack games for unlimited lives or to upgrade your engine on Supercars II to the point the car would travel so fast it flew off the screen! haha My friends dad built me a 386 PC. It had a 128mb hard drive that was partitioned, I remember him telling me that his dad had a gigabyte of space on his. We were like "a GIGABYTE?!". HA!

  • try and listen to this without a smile on your face as you remember the good old days, its not possible

  • @abcdefg23226

I was smiling before I read this. I was beaming when the headlights popped up.

  • I remember playing this game for the first time on the 18th of August 1991, the day before I started High School!

  • Ah, the early 90's.

Couple of Doves, some Coke, and Lotus Challenge.

    Happy days!

  • Loved this game - but why on earth did they think we would be interested in the cars dimensions of all things at the beginning?

  • Loved this game - but why on earth did they think we would be interested in the cars dimensions at the beginning?

  • @tomthumbplum Depends how into cars you were. Its like seeing how the magic worked, right there, in simple math.

  • You cut the magnetic fields intro short!

    fail lol

  • this game was, is, and allways will be one of the best, by one simple reason

it has a good GAMEPLAY (most modern games miss that and only have nice graphix)

  • yea i agree, i loved this game and played it for many hours as a child.

  • There is suprisingly good bass in Commodore 1084S monitor. You can hear them very well in this game :D

  • this game is AMAZING

  • This has to be 20+ years old!

  • What I was impressed back then was how accurate all those stats were. The game itself became boring for me. I don't remember why.

  • Amiga sound chip is alien technology. Its too awesome

  • @Kuula10 totta, Amigan äänet on aivan helvetin hyvät

  • @Kuula10 Plus to think it only had four sound channels, two sounds for left speaker and 2 for right. Miss the 80's.

  • This was a revolution in this days! Thanks for that upload!

  • Love this game

  • I knew, that Top Gear was from Gremlin Graphics like Lotus, but that they recycled the Music... WOW^^

  • @soldier501 no.....Kemco simply hired Barry Leitch, and he rehashed a couple of tunes from this game for Top Gear on SNES....according to Leitch himself, he had re-mixed one of the songs for Top Gear Rally, but never used it.

  • @Nitehawk770 Kemco didn't really do anything, Gremlin was the developer

And they hired Barry for Lotus turbo challenge two also :P

  • Man this song rocked in Top Gear and it is just as awesome in this game! Impressive!

  • i loved this game, one of my favorites

  • Holy hell....I grew up during this time, and had never heard of this game. The first time I listened to this track was while playing the original Top Gear with my dad. Loved this track the absolute most. And now, nearly 20 years later, I find that the Top Gear version was a remix! It's great to hear the original version here, and it certainly doesn't disappoint! Thanks for uploading!

  • This game is brilliant, nowadays kids playing in... hmmm playing in buying new components for a lot of money to their PCs where the games could be compared to public domain for free. Lotus was another breakthrough along other amiga's game and this music and doesn't matter graphic... so i feel like it was yesterday it's so cool for me even whit this graphics. Now i can't find anything enjoyable in new games.

  • @horsie111 yer thats the one had my beer gogles on lol

  • In case someone doesn't know: there is a recent complete remake of this game in only 96 kilobytes, running on Amiga ECS.

  • I'm actually buying a Lotus Esprit because of this game!

  • @atheisttotindekist

    yeah me too

    high five

  • That's awesome! I particularly remember a track on hard where the arrows were in the wrong direction. Those got me so often (at age 10 - 11) :P

  • wow just massive flashback, thanks, awesome!!

  • i used to play this game with my m8s with 3 player with a link up one amiga 500 and an amiga 600 I kicked arse ;0

  • ... and that, ladies and gentlemen, is why 21st century games will NEVER be as good as games were back in the day!!

  • Great soundtrack, nice game :)

  • Brilliant Soundtrack

  • what is the music on the 'Gremlin' logo does anyone know? it's bugged me for years?!

  • @buhce5 Richard Wagner - Götterdämmerung.

Götterdämmerung (Twilight of the Gods) is the last in Richard Wagner's cycle of four operas titled Der Ring des Nibelungen (English: The Ring of the Nibelung, or The Ring for short). It received its premiere at the Bayreuth Festspielhaus on 17 August 1876, as part of the first complete performance of the Ring.

  • @Hexenhammer666

    thanks!!

  • @buhce5

it bugged me for at least 17 years and i have spent hours to find out without success.

    until now :)

  • Great music, great game... f%$§ing awsome

  • This song is sooooo addictive!

    Reply if you agree :)

  • I agree.

  • the ost is amazing

  • YES

  • the night race theme in top gear

  • @Shishizurui Could you like to that clip?

  • kids will think nowadays, the graphics are crap, but, back then they shat themselves seeing graphics like that!

  • I think the main thing that holds up these days is the music . I have yet to hear a game these days that have such memorable soundtracks

  • @turbomonkey138 you think the same as me then

  • The spinning lotus fucking blew me away!

  • @figaro589

    I agree classic!

  • @figaro589 Agreed. Video conversation is allso funny, graphics runned smoother on any Amiga. A500+, A600, or better yet A1200 ;)

  • Comment removed

  • @figaro589 I'm 16 and i just shat myself looking at those amazing graphics! For 1990 THAT'S INCREDIBLE!!!!!

  • @morefredmoore2

hey, glad to see someone appreciating it :)

  • This was a great game! I prefered Lotus 2 one of the main improvements being full screen racing!!

  • Amiga 500 or 1200?

  • Amiga 500.

  • lotus is the one of the best games on amiga ever made! addictive! lovely!

  • Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge is THE BEST driving game on the Amiga. I still play it today. This was the game that got me hooked on my mates Amiga at xmas 1990. Simply awesome!!!!

    Top Gear - 1992

  • THIS WAS THE Bomb pack in the day sweettttttttttt

  • sweet memories

  • yeaaa sweet!!!

  • Barry Leitch also made the music for this game? Sounds exactly like top gear.

  • No, Andrew Morris composed the music for this game.

  • My mistake... Shaun Southern also composed the music for this game.

  • LORD I MISS THIS GAME

    yeah I was a champion.....

  • what´s that classic music at the very beginning? is it a classic music song or composed only for that game?

  • The gremlin tune u mean....it`s classical peace by (by: brahms i think)

  • Its the jingle used on many games by Magnetic Fields. See Supercars 2 for example. "Götterdämmerung" or "Twilight of the Gods" in english by Wagner. Thank kimmern999 for that :)

  • suuuperb love it... what was the name of the game that was birds eye view racing and you could fire rockets at enemys???

  • this was "Super cars"

  • fantastic game i knew the tune right away LOL

  • I never finished this game I think.

    Brings back some memories.

  • I hate with a passion how they reused this song in Top Gear (2?) for the SNES.

  • Top Gear was basically a port of this game though =/

  • Well, not really...

I mean, sure, it all looks the same, but it just doesn't feel like the same thing. The game mechanics are completely different.

  • Piękne czasy:) Jedna z moich pierwszych gier na Amiga 600.

The beautiful days:) One of my first games on the Amiga 600

  • omg! my first computer game EVER when i got my amiga 500 back in 1990!!! those were the days... !

  • that was my favorite game on amiga 600 ! :D

  • great one !

  • is verygood lotus Espirt turbo ES with a music

  • man that brings back som good memory's

  • I've got the PC version and the Esprit is an S4, not an SE. Did different ports of the game have different cars?

  • It's "LOTUS - The Ultimate Challenge" on PC and it features the S4 on the intro. The actual game is same as Lotus III on other platforms.

  • LOL, dumbass.

  • This brings up loads of memories... 5 stars!

  • Good game, good music. You can find its remix on the remix site..

  • Great game but never had it on the amiga i had it on the Atari ST

  • so is this run in WinUAE or some other miggy-emulator, or captured from the real deal?

  • thats not the sound i remmber from that game =(

  • That is what I call a GAME!!!!!

  • true words spoken from a wise man

  • Thank you! That is not the only one, there is a huge list of such on that machine, so many...

  • Hell Yeah, the Amiga just HAS the best Gameplay games. The graphic may not be THAT good, but the gameplay is and will allways be THE BEST!

  • That is right!!!! Graphics use to be good also in compirison to other machines of that time

  • dude, i remember such games like Defender of the Crown, Ports of Call, Lotus 1-3, Jaguar, Monkey Island and so on, the list is endless =)

  • That's right the list is so long, The secret of the Monkey Island and Flashback really thrilled me, but your right, the list is very long. You forgot the demos. Did you see the one called Odysssey? 4 floppy disks, I used to see it in the dark like a movie.

  • i think i should get my old amiga out and play

must be somewhere in my basement...

  • that was my favorite game......Lotus WOW

  • guys get on the emulators and sell

the xbox.feel young again instead of getting

frustrated by yankees who's whole vocabulary consists of "faggot"

  • This makes me nostalgic... nostalgic to the days when videogames weren't driven my mainstream movie success and sales figures. Back before all the video-game companies became as oligopolized as they are today, eschewing many videogame ideas because they'll make more money off a movie franchise. Its sad. Very sad.

  • As far as i remember, LTC was the first car/race game that we could play multiplayer at the same time with the split screen mode.i really missed those days.LTC,Golden Axe,Turrican,Kick Off,Cannon Fodder,Civilization,Stunt Car Racer,It Came From the Desert,MYTH,Lemmings,Final Fight,Street Fighter,Shadow of the Beast,Moonstone,Silk Worm,Midnight Resistance,Larry,...etc. :))

  • @PureAngel79

Pitstop 2 on C64 must be the first :)

  • the game is the best racing game to this day. hard to believe isnt it, but its the truth

  • Super Music !!!

I remember the gold old amiga days :o)

    The SOUND was AWESOME !!!

  • Listen to the music for fuck sake, back then they knew how to get things right.

  • So that's why I always though track 3 in Top Gear sounded toned down for some reason.

  • lotus esprit turbo challenge!!! the best game of car for amiga !!! i loved this game ^^

  • A memoriable one..

  • I managed to get the game and play it on an emulator, what great stuff, it still plays well too. Brilliant!

  • The Music !!!! I love it . As i was a young Child i recorded this soundtrack on my Stereo Casetterecorder and the Lotus Music was in Stereo to . On the Left was the Bass and the Drum . On the Right the Guitar . Sometimes I run the game only for the Musik . The second Part of this Game had also a great Musik with this chik chikachik ahhhhh . Thanks for post this Video !!!

  • most of the amgia games are ran only by music...in my case

  • God i loved this game. Great memories.

  • This game got it all started! It was simply awesome! These games had the best soundtracks for games in the day!! Just check out the next two games in this trilogy!
