I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Mercedes vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and EFi injectors clean as new!
Sounds insane! I'm looking for a similar (but not so much) sound for my 164 V6 24v and am looking at changing the rear silencer which does most, if not all of the work, for two Fiat 132 rear silencers which should give me a higher note. Will post results on Youtube of course! :o)
As much as i love my gtv6, this one on the video sounds absolutley disgusting, and does not sound like the V6 at all. Engine must be very tired or a 4 cylinder. In one word...yuk, i'd be embarrased to drive that...
Have to disagree. The chrome bumpers are definately Alfetta GTV but the rest of the bodywork is second series GTV (gutter runs all the way to the plastic trim on the rear panel, black window frames, etc.) and the bonnet bulge is GTV6. The sound is very dramatic for sure and you loose the V6 deep drone but listen carefully, you can hear the roundness only a V6 will give. A 2 litre would sound even harsher with that set up!
You speak English?: May I ask what wheels these are, and what engine: either a 75's 3.0 V6 12-valve or a 165's 24V? Does it fit with the transaxle? What exhaust did you mount?
I've been planning to assemble one for years, basically like yours, the same "GTV6 Alfetta" idea...
Darf Ich fragen was für Felgen diese sind? Grand Prix? Stammt der Motor aus einem 75, 3.0 V6 12-ventil oder aus einem 165 V6 24V? Wenn es der letzte ist, passt es normal für die Transaxle? Und welcher Auspuff ist es?
