Great Video. Was watching world cup on teles in car whilst waiting. Heard whistle and camera ready. I was off school from lunch incase u are wondering why i wasn't there! Liked!
@04clemea There is a path that runs alongside the railway so there is easy access to the ground. Whether it's a public footpath I'm not sure. However, I will say that everyone there, that I saw, behaved very responsibly and kept to the cess. Well out of the way of any oncoming trains nad if a position of safety.
It was great to see such interest in Mallard and Tornado, especially considering that England has just finished playing in the WC.
@04clemea No, you haven't missed anything. Dozens of people breaking the law. "Behaving responsibly" didn't even come into it. The law is the law, interpreting it yourself just doesn't wash. Steam will be off the mainline because of this sooner or later - just wait

@04clemea I always trespass to get a better view of legendary steam trians, unlike you I am blessed with common sense, I happen to know that if one doesn't stand on the track when a train is coming then you won't get hit by one! Also how the hell am I going to put my 2pence piece on the track without trespassing?
Shame the NRM seem to decide which locos will and (usually) won't ever run again and then seem to feel that that's an end to it. If they've got too much work on (with 4472, which seems to be going on for ever), why not let somewhere like Tyseley or Carnforth have a go?
@bachmanthomas21 Mallard's condition might be reasonable, but its boiler ticket did expire on her last run, plus the NRM would like to keep her in excellent condition so she doesn't wear down too much. Not saying she'll never run again, but Mallard deserves the good rest given to her. She did pull a record, and that's something.
I lurked near Heighington station to film this. Lovely day, beautiful wild-flower meadow, perfect view of the line, once in a blue moon train... ...broken camera. I was nearly sick.
I can just about watch this fine footage without weeping. Thumbs up of course.

Another Superb vid NYMRfootage. I spotted Anthony Couls at approx 5.14. Of coarse he was curator at Shildon till his recent promotion to the NRM.
Met him whilst we where up there with 71000 a couple of years ago. A very pleasant and knowldgable young man, but he would be, he's from BOLTON! LoL.

@04clemea Yes they are most definitely tresspassing on a mainline, albeit a fairly quiet one.
