@Bonertronica Ahh, troll. Perhaps you will get raped yourself some day. Frankly, you deserve it. If all feminists are dumbasses, then apparently you think that women shouldn't be allowed to vote, own property, or earn equal pay for equal work. If you hate women so much, at least have the decency to keep your misogyny to yourself and slither back under the rock you came out from. If you're too cowardly to do the human race a favor by killing yourself, at least never breed.
This is one of my favorite songs from the album. I almost always prefer live versions to songs but I like the album version better. His voice on the album reminds me of Mike Ness...he sounds pissed!
TTWS, seen you in concert a couple diff times including in SB w/ Nickel Creek (awesome...)!, & later up close - gotta say I really liked this song musically but couldn't totally understand the lyrics before! You have great lead vocals Glenn & awesome stuff to share still...what a wonderful guy you are! Hope you keep touring & I get to see/hear you again. Thanks 4 many masterpieces - so many of ur songs have been deeply moving to & in me & helped me to feel & express... God bless! Play Tahoe! :-)
LOL!! Don't you know you're supposed to play to your audience? Take it from me, it will be the secret to your success or failure as musicians. You do like getting paid to play, right? Toad's music is absolutely great, but not all of it is fit for public consumption.
They did realize that it's an anti-rape song, right? For what it's worth, our sorority would've loved you doing a cover of this song, and any other Toad tunes for that matter. Their sincerity and artistry oozes from every note.
I see, said the blind man. It is exceptionally good at that. No clipping or anything like what you usually hear on YT. Should've given the seal a unipod though. lol
Yeah, I remember that. My band used to play this song and we had to stop because we got complaints! Unfuckingbelievable. But, you know the art of language and the use of irony in lyrics is lost on the lowest common denominators we are graduating from our public schools these days. But hey, they have high self-esteem and are culturally sensitive.
@manjunk427 I'm a feminist and it's pretty obvious that the song is condemning rape, not condoning it. But thanks for speaking for all feminists, that's really enlightened of you. Maybe they're just dumbasses, did that ever occur to you?
The best song ever about a truly troubling subject.

I dig TtWS but this version has no energy. Too bad, it's a cool song.

@ChildofRain How the fuck can women vote or work when there's no polling places or job opportunities in the kitchen?

Hey Gambit- Very cool video, but where exactly is The Festival of the River?
Arby1Kenarbi 1 year ago
Listen to the original version- which has slightly different lyrics in the chorus. That is just brutal.

I really like this song. It wasn't until I really listened to the lyrics and thought "Oh..."
SergeantBagel 1 year ago
@SergeantBagel - the original version has different lyrics- it's even harsher and darker if you can imagine that.
9midwestern9 1 year ago
@9midwestern9 Would you mind posting a link to the original lyrics? I'm having a hard time finding them.
SergeantBagel 1 year ago
@SergeantBagel it's not about raping someone, it's about someone who has been raped. not condoning rape, but speaking out against it.

Out of all the great Toad songs, always thought this one was the best.
The shame of what a man can do, indeed.

This is a subject that most avoid, like cancer. Good on ttws for broaching it. I still think it's the oddest name I've heard, for a band, though.

A well orchestrated song if I do say so myself.
