I didn't even know this was a cover until I got into the Kinks and heard this song...I was like WUTT? they're covering a GD song? lmao...noo.....GD covered a Kinks song lmao
I don't care what anyone says. The Kinks are/were an incredible band. This is a FANTASTIC cover. It shows a reverence for the original material that is RARE in this current landscape. Great stuff.
No one's probably gonna read this, but I’ll say it anyway cuz I feel at least 1 person will. I'm a young designer and graffiti artist, I know there's a million out there but I feel like my art has a unique individual style.
If you just take a min and give me a chance I'll make you a believer. I would love nothing more than to have a loyal following on youtube. If anyone who reads this could press the "THUMBS UP" others will see it. Just a simple button push will make a huge difference.
they do decent covers, they are better when they play them live. BUT!! working class hero was phenominal. i personally think they outdid john lennon himself with that one.
My only complaint is that they stayed TOO true to the original. They didn't cover it, they replicated it. Even down to the drum fills.
The original is great, sure - and this is solid enough...but cmon, I'd like to hear at least some attempt at a more creative reinterpretation (admittedly those can often be horribly bad ideas).
Hi I found this video by mistake actually looking for the Kinks version.I have to say this isone of the best cover version of any songs I have heard to date.I also love Nirvanas version of man who sold the world..Thos are My person top 2 cover versions of any song ..Also check out Bryan Ferrys Version of the IN Crowd
Think they must have been talking about the "Canadian Federal Government"...and, if they weren't...they certainly could have been! All it would take is minor adjustment to the lyrics...*sigh*
Excellent cover. I loved the original when it came out , but this is a great take. I like the sense of latent power that amps up the sexual tension. The Kinks version does have more sway to it, but that's okay--I'll listen to both bands and enjoy them for their unique qualities =)
Redundant, Worry Rock, and all that. These are your love songs. Not all this whiny crap in the mainstream today. Green Day hardly makes any songs directed to love but when they do, they really show that Beatles, the Who, and Kinks influence.
@msanniemc Holy hell dude!! Your ABSOLUTELY right!!!! Maybe they like oldies music such as The Kinks ^_^ I think Green Day is the type of band where I think theyd be able to pull off covers of old songs. Theres just something about Billie's voice that makes it sound really cool when he covers a song. Ahh!! I dont know how to describe it!! Sorry! He just has that extra "spark", that "pizazz"! Anywho I sometimes imagine them covering old songs and GD would be awesome covering many old songs!
Great song by The Kinks. Green Day do it justice too !! I prefer this version though due to the audio quality that simply wasn't available in the 60's.
@Moonraker1974 the only thing this is missing is harmony, which makes the kinks version better, and frankly. i dont see a diffrence with the audio quality
@DarkWarriorGaming There IS a significant improvement in sound quality, and if you don't recognise that, then you seriously need to get your hearing checked out. Really, consider it.
