i found an easier way to do it:

basically all you to is get a HD TV if your laptop is HD get a HDMI cable plug it into your laptop and TV then change the settings and you have a desktop PC and just use your laptop for the power source and keyboard and mouse or you can buy a USB keyboard and mouse for about £15 or $20 and there you go a desktop PC from your laptop

@JayNZayGaming that's exactly what I did with my old toshiba satellite laptop but I upgraded the processor to quad core and added more ram the ati graphics card was decent enough and I was able to buy a 32" LG hdtv for $350 on craigslist even with the ram and processor upgrades I still saved over $400 if I would of bought a new quad core desktop
