Good to know about the old psychiatric center.

these institutions were created to silence and break a mans will, to take away a belief to make you think that you are crazy, know you will feel what it feels like to be in a stray jacket.

They had one of these kinds of 'asylums' in Northville, Michigan at around the same time (high 1800's). It was closed when Reagan deregulated the industry. The sanitarium buildings still stood when I was in high school and I remember that the group of us all believed there was something inherently "evil" about the place. We were always sneaking in there and getting kicked out by the cops.
