what i 'love' the most about Mikael is that he has reached such a high artistic level all on his own, working around the fuct that he is not a 'good metal guitar player; as technique goes. Just got the entire Opeth discography (amazon) and at first listen, I have to say MAYH is by far the best album at first listen. Just super solid from start to finish. I'm sure the other albums will grow on me over time, but it seems to me like they just couldn't match the brilliance of that CD in their later works.

Finally! I've been agonizing for months as to how the hell the ending lyrics to this song are "And the end of this sad madrigal," yet I only hear Mikael pronouncing maybe three syllables. I consider myself a huge Opeth fan. I own all their albums, see them live, etc...

While Death Metal is my favorite genre, I also listen to (don't laugh) Phil Collins, Brian Adams, Pink Floyd, some Country Music, etc...

What I do consider emo is the makeup wearing fags who cry about their girlfriends or their parents not understanding them.

I see nothing wrong with the emotionality that's beautifully presented by Opeth. It's beautiful, mature, and unique.

Yes, Opeth conjures up a lot of emotions that swing to the extremes, one way or the other. I don't know what the textbook definition of "emo" music is, and I'm not trying to label Opeth. I just love the way they make me feel. Agressive when I want to feel agressive, and pensive when I want to reflect. The song writing is genious, to me. Sorry, no video games in my life.
