Love the grin at the end. Some people seem put off by the large "smile", but on the other hand it seems to make me want to drive the car just by looking at it.
This guy is tripping out. I briefly owned the hatch version of this car and the 5 speed automatic is a major detriment to an otherwise sporty car. Mushy shifts, always hunting, never holds gears when you need it to and won't downshift unless you slow down to a crawl. Terrible gas mileage as well. Promptly sold it and got a 2010 GTI which is basically light years ahead of this car on every possible level.
@rushcreek77 Too bad the GTI has a timing belt and not a chain like the mazda,I would not call that light years ahead. Have fun with all the breakdowns vw is well known for that. Trust me I had one.
Wrong. It has a timing chain but thanks for your input. I'm warrantied bumper to bumper up to 100k miles so I don't really care. Almost 20k so far and zero problems. Destroys the Mazda on every level. Everyone knows that but you.
@)0:43. It boggles the mind that only Mazda and BMW have the tiptronic configured in the correct way. Racing cars are also pull for + and push for -; it is bizarre that road cars have it the opposite.
Steve, great review as always. In 2 and a half minutes you pretty much sum up any car. I like the Mazda 3. It is the same platform as the Focus, I even love the new interior.....but that front end.....oh well. It makes up for that in all other aspects by far.
I have test driven 10-15 cars in the last month and the Mazda 3 is surprisingly good for the price. Excellent brakes, good body rigidity, really responsive throttle, comfortable seating, nice tech, and sweet handling. Thanks for the review Steve.

Australians are being ripped off. We pay $24K for the base automatic... With Australia so close to Japan, it makes you wonder...

Good car spec wise but the front end is just plain ugly. The front looks like big fish gill.
