Now that it's most commonly used for someone's orientation, people feel like it should be it's sole definition. Many words have other meanings. This song -- I believe, though it may be suggestive because i'm in such a situation -- is about a guy who's trying to convince a girl that she's better off without him but she still loves him; maybe he wants rid of her and doesn't want to hurt her.
