  • isnt that recovery disk illigal?

  • no its just a modified vista disk

  • does this still works ?

  • YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank you

  • why cant i find the repair button on the cd bootup?

  • How much should it be when i shrink it ??(GB) ??

  • well mines 30GB but thats not my main OS so if you going to use XP as your main os make it a bit bigger

  • I have one 40 Gig XP partition, one 40 Gig Vista partition, and one 100+ Gig partition for data shared between the two OS's (music, photos, videos, docs, etc). It works for me.

  • i have two HardDrive A and B , ... the A has Win. Xp intalled and my softrwares and B has Two partitioon ( D AND E ) in E i have Music and my sutff, and D Its Totally Empty . that measns that i just have to intall Vista on D and that alL?? PlEASE ANSWER

  • hey the video is perfect but when i put my xp install disk in it says its to old to install, im a little comfused on step 3 and 4 if you could give me a hand it would be appresheated thanks

  • Great info but be careful giving about torrents cuz you could get suspended if anti-p2p sees your vid

  • Thanks. Actually, the torrent in the video is completely legal. It is not a pirated copy of Vista. It just has the startup utilities for Vista. In fact, I believe that Microsoft was the one who released it, so it's not illegal. :-)

  • YAY!!!!!!! lolol

  • At installation part of windows xp at like 37% it like crashes on me then my laptop turns off and it'll never get installed correctly..

  • That doesn't sound good. When you set up the partition for XP, did you make sure that you gave it enough space? I would recommend at least 10gb, but even that is not very useable. Also, did you format the partition as NTFS? I think NTFS is needed for XP to be installed on the partition. Another thing could be that you have a bad installation disc. I hope that this information is helpful to you and that you successfully install XP! NXTFreak

  • Oki finallygot it to work... But i have compe up with another issue..The drivers wern't installed..how can i get driverstowork on my xp partition?

  • crappy notebook

  • It's not the best, I agree, but the point of my video was never to advertise this specific notebook.

  • but you can go to bios me menu and select to boot from a empty disc then install xp

  • awesome tut dude and nifty tune ;)

  • how do you do this to an hp? is it the same but different drivers?

  • Yup

  • everything was done right....now what do i do now that i get the reboot loop when trying to boot into xp....yes im able to choose between vista and xp at starup....just xp reboots everytime i try to get into it...safe mode hangs up at mup.sys....anyone can help with this?...looked it up on google it only gives tips for computers with only xp on it

  • How do you put the ntldr in the root my XP drive? How is it done? Please help.

  • drag it to the root of the xp partition.

  • I have Vista and XP installed on my computer, but just xp boots. so I'm going to recover win vista. i don't want to dual boot, i want to get rid of the xp partition. so when I've recovered vista, will it now always automatically boot into vista?? thanks for any reply.

  • i duAL booted XP and LINUX on a Acer Aspire One

  • woow lol i got the same laptop exact same model nmber to lol

  • hmm will this work for a different type of comp like an hp pavilion?

  • Will this delete all of my Vista drive, the recovery process?

Thank you for the help, anonymous

  • No, it should not delete your Vista drive OR your recovery drive, because you install XP on a separate partition. You could, however, end up deleting those two partitions if you aren't careful! So please proceed with caution. ~NXTFreak~

  • Thank You SO MUCH!!! I was looking for a video for this exact model. I have a vgn-n220e just like you and I was wanting to install xp on it. Now thanks to you, I know what to do. This is going in my favorites!

  • Your welcome! Glad you liked it! :) NXTFreak

  • How do I change the bios on a VGN-N220E to boot from CD? Thanks.

  • You shouldn't have to change the bios to boot from a CD (if the CD is indeed bootable). You should just be able to insert the bootable CD into your computer and then restart it. Sorry if this doesn't work.

  • im going to try this on my desktop

  • You do NOT have to make a recovery disc from those 6 CD's. They ARE your recovery discs. You are supposed to use those 6 CDs to restore your computer to its original state. So Dell wouldn't send you an English version? That's disappointing. I guess since you have an original copy of Windows Vista, downloading an English version isn't illegal, don't you think? I guess you could do that, but don't download XP or any different version of Vista. Download the exact version you have except in English.

  • If those 6 CDs were all that Dell sent you, they should be sufficient to restore your computer to its original state. Those 6 CDs are your recovery discs. Is the Vista disc Dell sent you in French, or is the Vista installed on your computer in French? If the disc Dell sent you is in French, you could probably send it back to Dell and ask them for it in English. Please tell me if I answered your questions.

  • Your welcome. Reinstalling the OS won't let you create a recovery disc because you formatted the recovery partition. If you have the OS and drivers already, and want to restore your computer to its original state without the extra software that came pre-installed, just install the OS and then the drivers. But if you also want the extra software that came pre-installed, you are probably gonna need to call Dell and ask them to send you the recovery discs. One of them probably has the software.

  • What computer do you have? Usually your computer comes with software from the manufacturer which lets you create a recovery disc. The recovery disc can then be used to restore your computer to its factory default state. Try googling something like "How to create recovery disc on x" X being your computer model.

  • Awesome tutorial, thanks a lot!

  • Your welcome! I am glad you thought it was awesome. :)

  • i am doing this now i just hope it works fine and if it doesnt i will still thank u 4 helpin me 2 c if it works

  • What do you mean??? If you are having trouble, tell me what problems you are having, and I will try to help you. You weren't very specific.

  • Why do you want Vista and XP on the same computer???? If you want 2 OS get Linux!!!!! Daaaaaa!!!!

  • The reason I dual-booted XP is because most of my little bro's computer games wouldn't work on Vista, but they would on XP. I should try Linux though. What version would you recommend?

  • Does this only work on a vaio?

I have an HP Pavilion with vista pre installed. Will it Work?

  • Yes, it should work fine. The only reason I specified the Vaio VGN-N220E is because in the video I showed you how to install some of the main drivers for that specific computer. It should work, but the drivers (of course) won't. You will have to go driver hunting to find XP drivers for your specific computer.

  • Thanx alot! It worked perfectly! It took me some time to find the drivers though, but it worked geat! 5 Stars

  • although i am not installing XP, im installing os x, i found this very helpful.

    thanks much!!

  • Yes, I have heard about the osx 86 project, or whatever they call it. It is very interesting that you can actually install os x on a pc. But I think that it is illegal, unless you are an apple developer. So, unless you are one, you shouldn't do it. ;) But I am glad that you found this video helpful for dual-booting.

  • I did this on my CR 410 and it works thank you

  • Good to hear that it worked. You're welcome. :)
