When Joan played in Chicago about 15 years ago at the Metro, I held up a crappy little sign in which I wrote "Love is Pain" on it & she immediately stopped whatever song she was doing & played "Love is Pain" for me.

The first time I saw her live - 1983,

Chicago's Comiskey Park on tour with the Police.

Some idiots were throwing garbage at her.

She just batted it with the headstock of her Les Paul Jr., flipped them off & proceeded to rock the shit out of that place!

Despite my love & admiration for Ace Frehley,

Keith Richards, Joe Perry & Izzy Stradlin' and Bob Mould,...Joan Jett was the reason I learned to play guitar.
