  • hey feels it man. yea bro, digging this

  • Corrosion of Conformity album "in the arms of god", his drumming on it is great....

  • 5 People ain't holding their sticks right.

  • Love this groove. Check my channel fr bucket loads of funk.

  • wow i was just watching him play and when the video stopped i realized that he had a band in there with him and it wasnt a recording!

  • Sprung Monkey, fuck yeah!

  • I just imagine the 5 people who don't like this, sitting in their darkened apartment, where anything that brings them joy, causes their skull to bleed, thus the dislike.

  • What is he hitting to the left of his hi hat while he plays the cowbell pattern? am i loosing my hearing or does that have a deep bass sound?

  • @wetrib It's his stanton moore signature pandeiro from latin percussion. cool little drum for sure.

  • @wetrib He puts a coated emperor on it, and reallllllly stretches it out (he might even stand in it) and then tunes it very low. It's close miked, so without the mic on it it sounds less bassy and more jingly. Still pretty rad!

  • THIS IS MUSIC!

  • what type of kit does he use? anyone know?

  • @who27moon I am pretty sure he uses a Gretch, but I am not 100%. I do know that he has his own line of Bosphorus symbals. They sound GREAT.

  • mo FREAKIN fo.

  • he is the singer of Weezer

  • That cow bell is EPIC!

  • As already said: Sticking is: LLRL RLRR... first R Cowbell, Second R Snare, Third and Fourth R Cowbell....

  • anybody know what his sticking pattern is?

  • Play that funky music white boyyy!!!! Lol.

  • @Metallica4Ever93 speed isn't that important. control is, tho. i respect metal and rock drummers, but...when u can slow it down and be tech in different ways, it earns u alot of respect, cuz that's hard.

  • @Metallica4Ever93 seriously.....

  • @Metallica4Ever93 Joey Jordison is shit.

  • if you head moves like a cicken you can call it groove

  • so he's just doing paradiddles starting with the left YAY!

  • For those of you who can't figure it out, his main groove is LLRL RLRR

  • reminds me of saturday night live. or a talk show.

  • I love this.

  • is his left hand playing a tom or a tambourine?

  • @grennans tambourine

  • @grennans It's a Pandiero, essentially a Brazilian tambourine with a few key differences. He has it down-tuned quite a bit with a mic underneath, and the jingles are cupped.

  • 1:06 :O Tasty!

  • Black trombonist starting at 1:53 FTW!!

  • @mypants1 So I'm guessing Tower of Power tries to be "black" too?

Stanton is from New Orleans so sounding "Black" is a part of his sound now

Please go Troll somewhere else music has nothing to do with race.

  • can someone tell me what album this is on or where i can find the entire song?

  • @jlk21 It's actually from his side project, Garage a Trios; the album Emphasizer. Listen on iTunes first though. It's not quiiite the same.

  • @mypants1 nice inferiority complex!!! ;)

  • @mypants1 Man just because you don't even know what it means to be this funky doesn't mean you have to throw race into this. Music is to be enjoyed as music. Race doesn't come into it. If you just heard a recording of this and didn't know the drummer was white you'd be like "Dam that guy can play".

  • Blackest white guy ever.

  • @dulkoski I hate to disagree and I don't want to start a fight, but I'm pretty sure David Garibaldi is blacker

  • that bass drum idea is a great idea. good groove

  • Damn cool. Daaaaaamn cool.

  • ahhhhhhhhhhh yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • 0.50 he kinda has a skip

  • stanton...groove and musicianship... great

  • sounds like rocko's modern life

  • @pinkvelvet100 yess, i thought the exact same thing!

  • Groovie stuff with the snare!

  • yeah ! he just got the groove :D i love it !

  • somebody transcribe the groove! I know the basis is LLRLRLRR. but there are cool variations and what is his right foot doing?

  • @russellzoo Hitting the large marching bass drum on the far right.

  • @pondscum29 not the drum you douche - the rhythm

  • I love it, he's having so much fun with it

  • 6 People Jealous of the skillz.

  • 2:05 Stanton almost jumping off his stool. Sweet jam.

  • The fill at 1:06 is sick!

  • Stanton Moore does not play time, he is time.

  • DAYyum nigga TIGHT

I wanna groove inside Stanton's head for just one day

  • Love that bass drum setup!!!

  • bassist looks like george porter of the meters, is it ?

  • @Abgulu yeah.

  • just got home from a drum clinic with him, that guy is amazing!

  • damn!!!!

  • Groove Master = David Garibaldi

  • Comment removed

  • how does he do this groove. could someone break it down?

  • Comment removed

  • @scoongeel70 llrlrlrr, playing the snare on the backbeat und the other right hand strokes on the cowbell, left hand on the tambourine... adding bassdrum pattern. the sticking is kind of an inverted paradiddle.

  • Any place I can get a full version of this song? I think I like it even more than the original!

  • Ooooooh MAN! That was fun to watch! From 2:00 on I almost sprung my own monkey.

  • Awesome! Stanton Moore and Benny Greb are the modern maters of groove.

  • @Diatonic5th couldnt agree more.... could watch those guys play all day.

  • @Diatonic5th Also Steve Jordan!!!

  • I love the sense of community around stanton moore. It is so annoying to see people bicker and complain on progressive rock/metal drummer's vids. Went to one of his clinics and it was fantastic. Great drummer.

  • me likey. can't wait for bk bowl on the 23rd

  • That was fun, K! I'll dig it again.

  • hahahaha he's like the boy that plays in the moviee of steward little hahahaaa...but he is the best aatttt FFFUUUUNNNNKKKK

  • That beat is unstoppable !!!

  • at 2:00 he looked exactly how i look wen i play lol... WOW

  • Play that funky music White Boy!

  • doesnt this groove have kinda a chad smith feel...i digt it.

  • Gah, I love that ride.

  • why is his second bass drum so far away from the set and why does he have three pedals? is it just to get different sounds out of the kit?

  • @RIdrummer96 Im not sure why its far aways, but one pedal is for his main bass drum. The other have different beaters and are connected to the second bass drum.

  • This guy is great, I gotta learn to absorb some of this playin into my own.

  • Not a drummer, but I LOVE Stanton Moore. I'm from NOLA and I live on Galactic. Moore is without a doubt my favorite drummer... What are ghost notes???

  • @mbruck33 ghost notes are notes that are played lighter

  • ghost notes are much hard as it looks like. he is great

  • that shit was funky as hell! Moore is a monster!

  • 2:01 to 2:08 that soloist and the drums are amazing together, you can tell they've played a lot together.

  • Madd! Lucky Son Of A Bitch

  • amazing

  • Stanton Moore is THE GROOVE DRUMMER

  • Fantastic groove.

  • i wish i could have a band like this in my room ready to play when i was.

  • anyone know what snare that is????? =)

  • is that george porter on the bass?

  • @jtskiier Yep!

  • Gavin Harrison is my fav. drummer in my opinion the best out there porcupine tree

  • Love Mr Moore. Serious ass kicker. Big up from the UK!!!!!

  • Can't believe a guy like him played with COC !

  • funny how he plays the right bass drum instead of the one in front of him. Maybe it gives him the feeling of playing behind the groove?

  • @drumforock

I think he's playing that one because it sounds different.

IIRC the one in front of him is 20" or 22" (width) by 16" (depth), and the remote one is 26" or 28" by 14". It's an old 'nawlins marching bass drum that was hanging on the wall of a bar, that he asked for when it closed.

  • @NerfLad, Ah, I see. Thanks for the explanation. Makes a little more sense now

  • @NerfLad i think your right, on his Remo video, he says its a 26" and that he doesn't use 22" only 18 and 20 other than his amazing 26 :) so his remote is 26" and the main base infront of his right leg is probably a 20"

  • 1:06 is possibly the greatest verse from the Bible of Less is More.

  • Yooooooww!!!

  • is that george porter jr on bass?

  • just got back from his drum clinic... totally amazing

  • stanton moore has so much groove its disgusting

  • Stanton Moore = Ghost Note Master

  • @robert8558 Ghost Note Competition.

    Stanton Moore or David Garibaldi?

  • @dontdodat00O

    Gavin Harrison :)

  • @dontdodat00O David for sure lol

  • @robert8558 check out keith carlock

  • @robert8558 no ur wrong its more like stanton moore= master period!

  • @robert8558 i would say that chad smith would also be up there for discussion

  • @robert8558

Stanton moore = Groove Master :D

  • @robert8558 I'm sorry but the ghost note master is without a doubt Bernard Purdie

  • @robert8558

    I tought Dave Weckl is.

  • He is the man!

  • I can't wait till Stanton jams with the master of British funk - rock , Steve winwood ... They must make an album together... That would be incredible...

  • I fuckin love Stanton Moore, he makes everything gel so smoothly!

  • 1:07

    groovy fill in

  • @sherman9009 It's like calypso style blackcurrant-ribena if that makes sense

  • Nice!

  • @thegkays , I actually think the solo was very called for, musically speaking. He didnt steal the show from the other musicians, and kept the groove going nice and easy.

  • @thegkays Moron. That's called playing in the pocket!

  • DAMN !!!!!

  • Esto es tener groove de verdad... y lo más importante de este wey es que es super musical, cosa que muy pocos bateristas tienen.

  • Gracias , soy baterista jejejjj

  • nasty groove

  • That vintage bass drum is a rockin'! Nice vid.

  • PHUNK!!

  • Wonderful! I love the salsa cowbell, the brass section, and George Porter on bass. And even though you can feel the constant, funky 16th notes in this groove, check out the huge rest Stanton takes between 1:47 and 1:48. This cannot be played better than these guys do here.

  • FEEL'S GREAT! (and that's the point.)

  • @curiousnomad

    That's what she said.

  • Parceque il a deux son differents de grosses caisse, la 18" et la 28"

  • why the second bass drum?

  • sound, dude, sound!

  • Because he's special :)

  • ive never heard this stanton moore guy before but i like what he does alot! what is the name of his band?

  • What kind of crash is that?? I love it!:D

  • @randomlightningman I think it's called the Trash Crash made by Bosphorous cymbals

  • Thanks bro!:D

  • what dvd is this from?

  • I think the name of his early 2 dvds was "TAKE IT TO THE STREET", ones got a contemporary approach and the other one a more classic approach...

Now he is working with Hudson Music to release a new one I think...

  • does anyone know the sticking that he refers to at the beginning of the video ?

  • LLRL RRLL RRLL RLRR

  • Hes got one that i like even better that RRLRRLRL. youve probably seen it already but thats my favorite

  • is this the sticking ?

  • omg that's a funky shit!!!!!... love it

  • Ooooh thats what people mean by the term "sticking"

    hmmm imma go practice that

  • Oxenthrust!!!!!!!!

  • 2:05 is absurdly hip... Stanton's feel is ridiculous

  • Stanton is funky. That ol' oversized "New Orleans" type of jazz bass is great and has a smooth soft note that brings another dynamic to the drums. A lot of people don't realize that Rock n' Roll was originated by musicians from the New Orleans. Yes, those old Blues & Jazz guys gave us what we now call Rock' n' Roll. Check out Cadillac Records - the movie. That movie is about the Chicago perspective of Rock 'n Roll. Back to Stanton, LOL, he's a great drummer.

  • You hit it right on the head, Little Richard used some serious players from down there in Lousiana.

  • Damn! My head keeps moving to that groove over and over again. I love this guy. New Orleans Tone!

  • right on pmorg. I used to hit the maple leaf every thurs possible to check out vidacovich and george porter.

Stanton is hip and is a household name, but drummers...check out Jon Vidacovich. he's the godfather. I was fortunate enough to study with him briefly before the storm

  • what is the sticking??

  • LLRLRLRR

  • i saw stanton play live twice with galactic and i have to say hes one of the funkiest drummers evah id say its a a tie between him and billy martin ive also seen george porter play three times twice with pbs and once as a guest with eric krasno from soulive and i was fuckin blown away

  • I do dig MMW, but my opinion is that Martin is not in the same funk stratosphere as Moore. I agree completely with your comments regarding George Porter Jr. Saw him this past jazz fest with Johnny Vidacovich (Stanton's mentor) at the Maple Leaf... my head almost exploded from the emotional intensity of that music!! incredible!!!!!!

  • The bass player is frickin' George Porter Jr., legendary New Orleans funk man of The Meter's. He's the king!

  • Yeah!

  • who's the bassist?

  • idk, but hes a beast! love it

  • Dude! It's only one of the most famous New Orleans Funk bassist that lives, George Porter Jr. of The Meters!!!

  • jezuz!! man i love this Stanton Moore guy! what a wicked drummer

  • stanton very smooth check my channel for more good grooves

  • dude that band is big man.. whiew

  • Awesome, one question though, isn't this the main character from the show 'Arrested Development' moonlighting as an awesome drummer? :)

  • Haha no man that's Jason Bateman, this guy's a famous NOLA drummer

  • :) He's really great isn't he! (stanton I mean, although Jason Bateman was great in that show too) :)

  • I hated Arrested Development ... what is so funny about a dysfunctional family who`s patriarch fakes his death and lives up in the attic ? I never understood that shows critical appeal . I gave it multiple chances . I think that show sucked

  • my favourite funk drummer

  • gotta love david garibladi too xD

  • And clyde stubblefield, and jabo, and zigaboo!

  • man

    One of my favorite drummers
