Yes when she sign to return for 2 months in later 1983 it was written for the show. she came back to get Luke out of the show. they would play it when Luke felt she was close but she couldn't be she was dead but she was really behind a tree or behind something watching him cause if she went to him the cassdines would kill him. But they finally reunited on very spot they were married. after six weeks of teasing us with having Luke and Laura almost find each other they did.
It is so sad that GH just could not or would not write good storylines for a strong Laura Spencer. They always wanted her to play the victim/damsel in distress. GH really lost out on the whole grand dame thing other soaps had. Laura would have fitted that bill perfectly. Would not even mind her coming back married to Scotty. Both actors are phenomenal anyway and the interactions with Luke and Tracy would be electric.
A beautiful video about the most exciting and intriguing soap couple EVER! There will never be another duo like them---I loved this so much. Thanks for putting it together!!!
I started watching GH after the "Ice Princess" escapades... around the time Jackie & Laura Templeton showed up in Port Chuckles. I remember the scenes when Genie returned & Luke would see Laura across the room in a restaurant, or wherever, before she revealed herself & they would play this track... I'm over here crying to this tribute...
I WAS A TEENAGER WHEN G.H.s LUKE&LAURA GOT MARRIED THE 1st TIME.I
THINK ALOT OF PEOPLE ALL OVER THE WORLD WATCHED IT THAT DAY.MY MOM
& I WATCHED IT TOGETHER.THOSE WERE HAPPY TIMES..IT WAS SAD WHEN LAURA LEFT THE SHOW...THEIR LOVE WAS JUST PRETEND,CAUSE IT WAS JUST A SOAP OPERA,BUT IT SEEMED REAL..
@JaSamFan4Ever This song was written in memory for a friend of Christopher's g/f at the time , that got murdered. I think she was shot. You'll find the information of his most popular songs and how they were inspired on his site.
@AphroditesHearts It was written in memory of Cross' girlfriend's college roommate; a girl named Laura Carter; she was accidentally shot. General Hospital used the song by his permission to memorialize Laura Spencer, who was believed dead for a couple years.
GH writers really screwed up one of it's greatest love stories. I can't believe she's living in paris and doesn't even call her kids, while Luke is a drunk.
GH writers really screwed up one of it's greatest love stories. I can't believe she's living in paris and doesn't even call her kids, while Luke is a drunk.
Um... Laura and Luke were madly in love with each other.. The fans thought they were the greatest couple in soap history.. and it all came about not long after.. one night in a disco where they worked....that he RAPED her! I dont know many women that would fall in love with a guy that rapes them.
I think so many people believe that Think of Laura was written about her character but an earlier post was right about the origins of the song. I miss Luke and Laura and although I was too young to care about soaps when their romance first started I am thankful that I get to see why their romance was so great through youtube.
Luke and Laura are one of a kind, In my opinion the only other couple that come even come just a little close to the years of relationship these two have had is,
Jason and Robin. Luke and Laura will always be my number one couple but number two for me is Jason and Robin.
@deltabox888 No this song was not written specifically for GH. Chris wrote it for a slain college girl named Laura Carter , who was killed by a stray bullet, and GH leased it out to use for GH. The lyrics have become so synonomous with Laura that people assume it written for her, but that is definitely not the truth. GH helped make it a huge hit, but it's not the muse.
yes..! i agreed of that... a beautyful video with a beautyful song....i'd always thinking of the girl that i've love many years ago! until now she remains in my heart ...
ok i must say that is really not my kind of music,, i jam to kitty, misfit, dead kenndey, the cure, and so on but for some reason this song end up on my ipod and my fav.
What a pleasure to watch this again - especially with the crap we're having to endure on GH now! She has always had the maturity to play this character with such depth and insight. She is truly human, and I have been incensed on other message boards, listening to people say Luke should stay with Tracy, and he is too old for Laura now, and she deserves someone better. I REFUSE to accept that they will never be together again! I still want them riding off into the sunset together!!!
They just don't know when to let a beautiful storyline end. They crave ratings and they know Luke and Laura always have been a big draw. You should do what I did: After Luke found Laura again in 1983, I simply said "The end" and stopped watching. What more was there to be said? It was a perfect end to a beautiful story. Anything beyond that was sheer excess.
I certainly understand where you're coming from! However, there have been some AMAZING scenes with Luke and Laura over the years. Frankly, I have loved them more as they have aged -- perhaps that's because I have aged as Tony has. I think it's wonderful to see a love like they have that has endured the bad times and stayed strong. My "end" will come if Guza writes this return with Luke staying with Tracy. I'd rather see the show fold than have that travesty occur. My memories will hold me!
I understand what you're saying but what the writers on GH have been doing over the years is pander to a known TV ratings earner. That means that the purity of the Luke and Laura saga has been tainted with never ceasing ridiculous nonsense. I read over the Luke & Laura Wikipedia article before I wrote my first post to you and I was amazed how absurd the storyline had gotten. You've allowed yourself to get sucked into it. That may be OK for you but for me, I felt the story was over in 1984.
This song was written for a friend of a friend of Christopher Cross's by the name of Laura who was killed by a stray bullet while riding in the back of a friends car. I think GH bought the rights to this song for their character, Laura Spencer. It's a beautiful song!
@JaSamFan4Ever nope. The truth is he wrote it to mourn the death of Denison University college student Laura Carter who was killed tragically when she was struck by a stray bullet fired over a block away, during an altercation between four men. My mom knew this girl as she lived about 10 minutes from my house in Wayne PA. Cross allowed ABC to use this for Luke and Laura, with the understanding that they state its origins.
@JaSamFan4Ever This song was written by Christopher Cross for a friend of his who died. General Hospital was huge at the time and Luke & Laura were its biggest stars. They asked for permission to use the song. Ironically many people in the industry said singers like Cristopher Cross wouldnt last because they wouldnt be great to look at on video. I always thought he was a super talent and even now Im still a fan
@JaSamFan4Ever No actually, The song became popularized when the American television network ABC began playing "Think of Laura" in reference to characters on the soap opera General Hospital. One of the program's supercouples, Luke and Laura, were quite popular at the time, and the song came to be associated with the characters and their portrayers, Genie Francis and Anthony Geary. C

@JaSamFan4Ever This is incorrect. Christopher Cross wrote this song about a friend of his who died at a young age. It was his way of coping with the grief. He said that Laura wouldn't have wanted them to be sad. Jill Phelps was music director [I believe still at the time] and brought it over for the '83 reunion. It is, however, a perfect song for that that story.

Thanks for taking what I consider the CLASSIC Luke and Laura song and using it with some of the best recent scenes. The song may say, "laugh, don't cry" but I did both with your video.
They are the most romantic, passionate couple I have ever seen in my life.....The chemistry is undeniable,amazing.............
