  • I drove past Ship rock and through a break in the "curtain",,I had to have my girl friend drive. I could not take my eyes away from it.........till It was no longer visable

  • I was in Bisti and De Na Zin for two days back in 2002 and will never forget it. I must have wandered for miles through there, and didn't see a trace of anyone until coming out there was a BLM Ranger who had arrived at the parking area. He said he rarely saw anyone there, and he himself had hardly gone more than about a few hundred feet into the area.

  • Beautiful, wild ancient lands. we climbed shiprock in 1966 and had to spend a night on the mountain in a shallow cave. Very intense climb

  • i live 5 miles from this

  • i live like 5 miles from there, beware the moonfull nights

  • I hiked in Bisti back in 1994 and 95. An incredible place. You can hike for miles after miles through Bisti viewing scenery like this, though it changes subtly where the rocks change: In some areas the soils are bright red. This is an amazing amazing place. Just amazing.

    _____

And Shiprock is a classic landscape/eroded volcanic neck with radiating dikes.

    ______

Could have done without the music, though. I like my nature with its natural soundtrack.

  • Thanks for posting this video. I actually lived at Bisti from 1957 to 1965. We had to haul our drinking water, and generate our own electricity back then. There were no paved roads into the area, and we were frequently stranded when the rains came and the washes would flood. I wouldn't trade the experience of living there for anything. I live in Texas now, but go back to the Bisti every week, flying aerial patrols over the area.

  • @skydanzer

The area is like another planet. Should have been amazing, but very tough at the same time, to live there

  • i found this place on google earth, and now it got me interested! is summer a good time to go? we might go the four corners area this summer, and i would like to check this place out!

  • @briantravelman I guess summer will be too hot in the Four Corners. I went there October 9-18 and the weather was perfect. Guidebooks say Spring or Fall is the best time

  • How can one walk in such a place without leaving a footprint? Geological wonder. Erosion of time. A reminder of things that once were.

  • New Mexico---121,666 square miles of surprises. If NM gets Texline, Texas & accompanying strip, territory expands. Truly the Land of Enchantment for many, many reasons.
