i took the training and the test when i was 13.. i passed.. but they only give you the liscence if you're 15.. so they gave me a diploma.. im thinking of doing it again to get my liscence.. im 17 now! ((:
i want to be a lifeguard but im scared because i am still recovering from a sholder injury from swim team and it is still hard for me to try to work though highschool girls swimming now so i dont know what to do!
i'm 12, and i am starting my lifeguard class in a week, im a little worried i will hold back the class due to the fact im twelve and most people start lifeguard training when they are 13-15, is it alright if i can only swim 20 laps in the pool, is that okay? or should i be able to do more by now?
Im a 17 year old girl, and im skinny, but not really strong, but im very athletic and always in the water, either sailing, wakeboarding, or surfing in the summer. Im thinking about becoming a life guarding at a beach this summer, but i dont really think im a strong swimmer, do you think this course is going to be very difficult for me, what does it consist of????????
@BackToGoAgain It helps to be a strong swimmer, especially for beach lifeguards where you'll sometimes be fighting currents. But it you're athletic and pratice your swimming until summer then you have a good chance.
@LACountyParks hey how old do you have to be to become on because i think i might want to be a life guard since i love beeing a medic, and i love swimmig so i think this is great for me thanks
@armymedic98 Depends if u wanna b a city lifeguard or red cross lifeguard. Red cross is 18 and only for pools. City lifeguards get paid more 13.25 current minimum and are placed on the beach. City lifeguard course and the test is 10 times harder then the red cross one. To be a city lifeguard you have to be 16 by the time you start working. I was still 15 when i was in lifeguard school. I'm a lifeguard at Coney Island beach ( Brooklyn NY) and i love my job. All the info i gave u is based on NY =)
@crazykrazy123 hi mate. I am currently swimming regularly to improve on my laps, as I want to be a life guard in a for a indoor lesuire centre in London. They expect me to swim front crawl 100 metres( 4laps) continuos But with my head out the water, looking straight. I am so use to doing 4 laps bio lateral breathing, is this new type of swimming going to be more easy for me now or harder. my next swimming lesson is nex week and my test is coming up nxt month. Please reply. thanks
i got a job interview today about becomin a lifeguard im pretty pumped is this training hard or is it easy to pass these classes i am a good swimmer aswell
@callmeblainer Congratulations on the job interview. If you're a good swimmer and take it seriously then you can pass! It's a lot of fun to work at a pool or lake, but remember it's an important job and people trust you with their lives.
@LACountyParks I am sixteen years old. I am 215lb and five feet ten inch tall. Do you think that my size will hold me back? I'm not overweight, just big. Most of it is muscle but there is some fat. I know I am a strong swimmer and I have good instincts. Will my build effect me in this job.
@MrArrogoth Everyone is lighter in the water. So size and weight aren't as much of an issue. If you're a strong swimmer, have good endurance, and commitment then you can do well as a lifeguard.
im taking this now and i have a 100 average in it i took first aid as a course too i passed crp/aed for child infant and adult but on the first aid test i got a 79 and u need at least an 80 which ws a buzz kill how hardis this end of the year test?
@onlyplayingme gratz mate, im planning to try and become one, what do you need to do specifically as prerequisites in order to be successful training as one.

i am a petite 16 year old girl and i am interested in becoming a lifeguard, will it be a serious struggle for me to complete this course?

@dooenn If you work for it then you can complete it. The great thing about being in the water is that size is less of an issue than skill!
