the ending could very well be an electric guitar solo... was what I was thinking to myself. and a second thank you for the name of Paul Nicholson --- thank you!
Let me second the earlier kudos given on ornamentation & phrasing - uniformly brilliant choices. Wasn't previously aware of Paul Nicholson, but I certainly am now.
Also impressed by the instrument and it's "clean" sound - would love to know what it was.
As for 'clean', Equal Temperament was invented after this music. So a harpsichord was tuned to a specific key and the music was written for an instrument in a specific key. So - 'clean', no fudge on harmony.
great sound on the harpsichord, I'm playing a transcription of this for trumpet, but playing it on my baritone! It's actually got a variation that isn't on this recording too, so we'll see how it turns out! Difficult piece
Well not necessarily an extra variation, but in the transcription to trumpet the third variation is changed a little bit. I mispoke before, it's actually just different from the one shown.
Reminds me of Beneath a Steel Sky and Ultima Underworld.

This sounds so joyful! It's refreshing. Handel is my favorite composer, something about his music attracts me.

Duh! HARPSICHORD.
Or maybe you asked 'Which harpsichord?'
