  • Long time ago i saw him with Lemmy , after the going from great Eddie, goody old times, good music is allways timeless

  • Robbo are ya coming to Manchester

  • This is SOOOOO good! That example of how play with pots at different levels opened my eyes wide. And every phrase is so... Deeelicious.

  • Great to see you're still up there playing with the best. Doesn't seem that long ago since drinking those "snakebites" in the attic. Cheers from Bob.

  • Lemmy didn't work very good with Robbo.

  • Agreed tacomadec, great blues.

Both Robbo and Gary were incredible guitar players.

    RIP Gary Moore.

  • Looks like I stepped into an argument here - all respect to Gary Moore, but Brian sounds a lot more like BB King or Muddy Waters, that's just a fact.

  • His blues playing is a lot more authentic than Gary Moore's pyrotechnics. Brian really has such an amazing tone and feel.

  • moronic! JUST LIKE GARY ASSHOLE MOORE

  • @tealshelp

How come the most retarded comments always come from people that have never uploaded a single video to YouTube? They'd rather spend their sorry lives spouting shit on other peoples channels than do anything constructive.

  • @ArchiveRock Think you answered your own question...because they are retarded, lol

  • @mattthecat03

I did didn't I? lol I hope tealshelp takes the hint.

  • @mattthecat03 Not sure how to upload yet.Still only somehwta pc savvy

  • @ArchiveRock WELL ALL THE BEST TO YOU TOO . YOUR JUST LIKE GARY MOORE THE BIGGEST TWAT IN MUSIC

  • @tealshelp

Gary Moore's dead ffs. Have some respect.

  • @tealshelp I respect your views on Gary Moore or anyone else you care to have an opinion about. Now can you please let us know what you have achieved in life?

  • @tigerspuds WELL ALL THE BEST TO YOU TOO . YOUR JUST LIKE GARY MOORE THE BIGGEST TWAT IN MUSIC

  • @tealshelp Amazing how you don't know me but yet you judge me. You still didnt answer my question.... What have you achieved in life? I expect nothing.

  • @tigerspuds what did gary moore achieved then he got done for nicking peter greens les and he got do for saying he wrote still got the blues he was allways piss as twat on stage . . so he sounds like a right twat dont he . in fact THE BIGGEST TWAT IN MUSIC

  • Beautiful touch, feel & tone. Shredders like Vai, Gilbert, Malmsteen & Satriani please watch this & learn something. This will help you understand what the electric guitar is all about. It will help you realise what music is meant to be.

  • @whitbyjet65 You said it pal! Playing guitar like this is a way of expressing yourself without uttering a word. Brilliant and from the soul!

  • awesome playing as usual from robbo

  • I like.

  • The mans a God..cool as Fuck..end ov!!

  • Shame Robbo never played at least a few final shows with the current Lizzy line up just for closure. He obviously still

has it' according to this fab clip. Robbo you rock bro, Bless ya!!

  • @edgroove7 , yes! really hope to see Robbo and Thin Lizzy together on stage in the coming year!

  • Just awesome.

  • JCM 800 ?

  • Top comment, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, always and forever. What you think you like is mostly inspired by others anyway :-) - Think about it........

  • should of never left the band ,Robbo an Gorham were the ultimate duo .come back Robbo !!!

  • Robbo is a Legend. Best guitarist in Lizzy and one of the all time best IMO. Up there with Jeff Beck. Really feeling and attack to his play.

  • You done a fantastic job putting this cool video up for everyone to enjoy UliJones!!! Many people have asked about this video and it is a rare one. I brought this up with Robbo and typical of him..he had a funny story to tell! LOL! Gary Moore is an incredible guitar player (RIP) and has his own wonderful style but for me Robbo is world class. In league of his own!! Compare Moore's original "Still In Love With You" solo to Robbo's L&D interpretation of that solo. I needn't say more. ;-)

  • Brian's still got it. Awesome!

  • why do people do this, this guitarist is better than that guitarist..... its only your opinion and no one cares, I love brian's playing and garry moore and clapton and beck etc etc etc its not a contest!!!!!!

  • @oldphatkat

    Well said!

  • Yeah, i never agreed with this whos better than who bullshit. So many guitarists, so many of them unique. Lots of folks can tell in five seconds if a songs being played by Gary Moore or Brian Robertson or Scott Gorham, and thats just one band. Know what i mean?

  • @cripescate

Yeah... and I love them all, if you have to rate guitarists by how fast they shred or tap then you need therapy, go listen to BB King and try doing what he does... cant even begin to imagine I could ever say Freddie King was better than BB king or vise versa.

  • @oldphatkat Agree ABSOLUTELY! I feel thats its all about a persons own perception of a lead run. The same song might have 10 different solos that the guitarist picks and mixes from as he plays it. I know Brian has had a lot of people discredit him as a 'drinker' I just know that i LOVE the way he makes a Les Paul sound FULL STOP!

  • @oldphatkat Little kids have to have their pissing contests.

  • @oldphatkat I know it's daft but people love to do it and we all have our favourites. The truth is, the UK had produced so many great rock and blues guitarists, it's hard not to bang on about it. Robbo is undoubtably, one of my favourite. Mad as a hatstand too.

  • Thin lizzy allways had a wealth of guitar players, for me this guy allways stood out, lizzy were their best when robbo was aboard,no disrespect to any of the other guys they were all brilliant.

  • gary moore was indeed a great player ....but robbo never overplayed -make of that what you will.

  • If I'd joined Thin Lizzy when I was 18 I might have been a tad cocky. Nice pure pure Blues... Love it.

  • Wouldn't it be great if he were to team up with Mr Beck?

  • I loved what Robbo bought to Motorhead for that one album 'Another Perfect Day' - apart from his stage dress of course :0). I don't know much about guitars but I am sure that is the one he used during the recording of APD and played live with Motorhead.

  • Gorham and Robertson......oh my goodness. THOSE WERE THE FUCKING DAYS.

  • @pokerpekka Listen to Live and Dangerous man.

  • Man,...his LP has toned down nicely,..mmm. Thumbs up if you think im right?,..

  • For a guy from Glasgow..... He was the first pick for The Tin Lizzy... R.I.P. Phil and Gary... They are sorely missed....

  • brian robertson was the jimmy page of thin lizzy imo

he just had the glory of having a personality like gorham beside him :)

  • Robbo has the greatest tone ever. I could listen to this guy play all day. Brian understands the subtleties of music perfect phrasing. Gary Moore, although excellent technically, doesn't know when to hold back, a problem with many lead guitarists. Robbo's (live and Dangerous) solo on Still in Love with you is the best melodic solo ever.

  • @warrrenegghead Yer but the other thing is all the overdubs he did on most of the solo's on live and dangerous, It's ok to drop a few notes , but he screwed up a hell of a lot really. How can you be a great player and mess up so much, doesn't add up , gary moore was 100 times better and improved so much over time too.

  • @LedZepGuitarman No disrespect to Moore, the man was a superb guitarist, however, its all down to personnal taste. For me Robbo only as to play two notes (especially wih the wah wah) to find a certain sweep spot that I cant find in any other guitarist. As for overdubs and mistakes I dont care - the finished product is the best!. I was fortunate to see Lizzy play from 1978 until the early 80s (Snowy White) but nothing could compare to the Robertson / Gorham era.

  • does he my arse poker pekker,,in his hey day in the 70s and early 80s robbo would have annihilated any blues rock guitar when it came to solos.maybe not the most technical player but he made the guitat talk like none other.should be up there with the pages and claptons and becks..he just alawys seemed to blow it at the big moments of his carrer.

  • @PokerPekka

    Thanks for your intelligent comment.

  • @UliJones hahaha

  • @tealshelp

You know you're talking shite don't you?

  • @UliJones why cos i am not an art school asshole like you not only the middle class know about music in fact the only thing you know about is shit so fuck off and read a book about lizzy cos you know fuck all about them you middle class art school asshole

  • @tealshelp

Middle class Art school asshole? I'm from a council estate and went to a comprehensive school. That comment you made about Gary Moore was moronic! Merry Christmas!

  • @PokerPekka What a chump!

  • @PokerPekka Brian Robertson has more soul and feel in one finger than Gary Moore had in his whole body, Moore was the most plastic "blues player" that ever existed.

  • @PokerPekka lol ?? he made it into thin lizzy.... Sure gary moore just happens to be in the top 10 best guitarists ever But surely brian if given a chance could work his way up too ??

  • @Crazybenjiwoo okey but he have had every chans to be one of the best. Gary Moore was known as a guitar god at the age of 16. Brian Robertson is good but not amazing like Gary Moore and many others. Cheers =)

  • @PokerPekka who taught who in the band ?

my grand father done the security for them for years and ive heard all the storys ( since he was their for alot with pictures and autographs to prove... )

seriously, you jumping onto a topic you don't know about ;)

  • @Crazybenjiwoo Ok thats very cool, but that does not mean that he is a awesome guitarist. Just listen to "Black rose" or "Parisienne Walkways". Robbo have never done anything that good.

  • @PokerPekka he thought Gary the control required to play that kinda music with the control he did ( because as well know, Gar is an absolute power house with notes flying all over the place; playing with rob, albert king and others taught him what he needed to know.

And yes, havin seen Rob live, and gary live.... it would be a tough call.

  • @PokerPekka It's not a competition....and you misspelled "totally".

  • @PokerPekka when you get past your 2nd birthday you will be fine

  • @PokerPekka everybody sucks next to gary, but bri still plays clapton outta the parking lot.

  • @PokerPekka two totally different styles..

  • @PokerPekka You are a real moron. Brian Robertson is shit hot.

  • @PokerPekka He's a better guitarist than gary imo. The most beautiful hard rock guitarist of all time.

  • @PokerPekka Stupid to make compétition in music..

  • And he's a Scot....

  • INCREDIBLE. Thanks

  • Awesome melodic player and the master of the wah. What a tone!! The best Lizzy guitarist by far

  • Best guitar player Lizzy ever had (as in suited the band perfectly with Scott) and he had the coolest Les Paul custom i've ever seen!!Those years with Scott were just Lizzy at their best and he is a vastly underrated guitarist in my opinion!

  • what amp is he using?

  • Blues with distortion, i love it!

  • very skilled man with a beautifull ear for blues

  • Number one bar None .....

  • wicked pal of mine!!

  • Comment removed

  • Robertson is just so good. The work he did with Lizzy was fantastic. Also I Another Perfect Day must go down as one of the greatest rock guitar work ever, the best Motorhead album of all time.(I bought it when it came out and loved it, I'm not one of those "Liked it 30 years later people")

There are probably others and yeah people will disagree but the guitarists to me who actually make the instrument "Talk" are Robbo, Hendrix, Slash and Billy Gibbons.

  • @MrMegabreath I got that album along with the Fast Eddie albums as a kid in the late 80's, and I thought it was phenomenal, just another great Motorhead album. When I started to read negative things about it years later I couldn't figure out what the hell these people were on about. I think some people were just unwilling to accept change, or they didn't like when Brian changed his image, and they didn't even give it a chance. Which is a pity, because it is a classic.

  • both in their hey day slash wouldnt of came close to robbo

robbo is far more of a cocky guy but with good reason hed make people feel whateva with his axe slash lol not even close!

  • @daveeeeee11 I totally agree!!

  • @daveeeeee11 A lot of people slate Slash because he's an 80s guy, but not a shredder. Well I think if Brian Robertson had been in Guns N Roses , they wouldnt have been as iconic and probably vice versa.

  • Man !! What is this...this is great !

  • Look at the live videos from his Lizzy days. The man had the most incredible phrasing I've ever heard.

  • As strange as it might sound, I've Never seen this before and it really made My day!

He is remarkably sensitive in his tone shaping. Would LOVE To hear Robbo play on a Jeff Beck strat with his kind of sound + The vibrato bar. I'm pretty sure some serious magic would be created!!

    :)

  • Yeah.....Brian is was the man whatever.Someday Slash will be was.It doesnt take away from what they have done. For me Brians body of work is the best, mostly his Lizzy stuff.

  • Dickiedick5 or whatever your name is,his name is 'Brian' and what the hell do you mean 'he's not a rock guitarist' have you ever heard live and dangerous by thin Lizzy?

  • Robbo is THEE man!!

  • Comment removed

  • Robbo! the world needs him

  • Awesome:) i still got my vhs copy of this :)i remember it took ages to arrive and when it finally did there was a signed letter from Robbo apologizing about the delay something to do with the sound on the video not being right. So fucking under-rated hes up there with Slash and the rest of em imho :)

  • @Johnlocke666 he's way better than Slash

  • @Arcturo765 maybe back in the day dude :)

  • @Arcturo765 brain is no metal rock guitarist dude and not my taste guitarist, i like slash s music more than from brain.
