  • STUCK ON REPEAT! so awesome! did you program the bass(lead) yourself? what program did you tweak from? Also how did you know what key this song is in? thanks! Just got one micron for myself and been wanting to cover this song.

  • @karmicexplosion hi, yes this is little boots :-) If I recall, I used a patch called 'Jupiter8' or something around those lines. Probably a tribute to the famous synthesizer from Roland during the 1970s - 1980s. I figured out the key and notes by ear just by closely listening to the track and perfecting it on the keyboard. Glad you liked it and sorry for the slow reply, free time is rare at the moment.

    Kind Regards

    George

  • @kingofkeyboards Gurreat! Thanks for the reply :D

  • can you sequenced a sint/ pad ?? you can save your performance as a loop..and in different track ? ( for example 1 part drum loop , 2 part bass loop , 3 part sin/ pad loop)

    tanks.

  • on the micron you simply press the Pattern button to put it in pattern mode, then choose any pattern you like that you not bothered about changing. press the white control know and scroll until you come to the row of dots that indicate the notes etc. then simply input the notes on the keyboard where you want them. hope this helps :)

  • @kingofkeyboards As I understand it, you can freely change any pattern you wish to creat your own patterns, is that correct? Could you please tell me what kind of limitations there are to the patterns. Like if I need to build a walking bass pattern key controlled by one key, how many notes could i put into the pattern? I'm currently working one some live setups for a friends band and they need an easy way to bring old style synth bass patterns with them. would the micron be good for this?

  • @sp4zzer the micron in sequence mode can trigger a loop of either a one note arpeggio or a pattern made up of multiple notes which are any notes you desire. I could press one key and I could have it play either a pattern with just that note and no others, or I could program it to play a pattern of multiple notes in any sequence. Once you have programmed all of your sequences you can layer all of these together creating the sort of thing you hear in this video for example. Hope this helps.George

  • @kingofkeyboards Awesome. Thanks. I think it would work just perfectly for our need. What i need is something to play basslines like the one in this vid watch?v=6tLY_E1-8RM (not my vid) bu it self more or less (band has no keyboard players or programmers) and I'd like to make some set ups for them that they could easily bring with them, but to an affordable price, which the Micron qualifies as :)

  • @sp4zzer well the left hand bassline he's playing would be no problem however the solo right hand he plays may not be able to programmed to it's full extent as it's just too long as a sequencer is only designed to loop smaller riffs. If you managed to find someone available to play this over the top then bob's your uncle.

    George ;-)

  • @kingofkeyboards only the bass line is interesing, it was just an example. Thanks a lot.

  • @sp4zzer okay glad I could help. Any more questions please don't hesitate to drop me a line. George

  • Hi again. Sorry to disturb you further about this, but You have been very helpful and freiendly so far, for which I'm grateful. Just let me see if I've gotten this correctly. You can create patterns of up to four bars, and then combine patterns with the sequenzer? So that you can make much longer sequenzes? In the case of the earlier mentioned examble, the entire bass line consist of 4x4 patterns wit a total of 16x4 64 notes before repeating. This would be within the capabilities of the micron?

  • @sp4zzer hi, your message will be replied to fully shortly. Time has taken over at the moment so youtube has been out of the question. sorry for the late response. thank you for your patience.

    George

  • how do you access the sequencer? Im new to this

  • well I used the sequence from Little Boots' Stuck On Repeat. No idea whether you had that in your head while listening this or not lol thanks for the comment and yeah one of the key selling points when I'm purchasing a modern day keyboard is a dedicated sequencer.

  • I thought about getting a micron, i'd still like to grab one sometime. I like the idea of gear with a sequencer built in, its one of the reasons i like my pss480/780 so much. Great stuff. I'm sure i know that synth arp from somewhere....can't quite place it.

  • do more micron videos!!

  • im kind of confused...can u explain in simple terms wat exactly a sequencer is/does? from what i watched it seemed like an arepeggiator with a beat going on in the backround at the same time . ..plz reply back..thx

  • a sequencer is basically a timer or clock if you will that triggers notes. you program the sequencer beforehand then when you hit a note it plays back the sequence that you've programmed. all the drums and bass were sequenced. :) hope this helps

  • THanks for the Video. I am thinking of buying a Micron. Can you post some more sequencer examples?

Can the Micron emulate the famous old analog gear like the Jupiters, Junos, etc. ? Can you post vids of that? I like the videos Retrosound created with the Jupiter arpeggios. I don't want to get into buying vintage gear, and I wondered if the Micron could emulate the arpegios and sounds of the Jupiters and Junos.

  • yeah sure, im a little busy at the moment but i should be able to do some stuff over the weekend :) the micron does a damn good job at emulating the oldies like the jupiters and moogs etc thanks for the comment :)

  • @cbulen Oh yes, it can emulate that sound rather convincingly. You can even emulate synthies from the late 60's and 70's complete with the tendency of their VCOs to drift in and out of tune.

  • Not bad ;-) The only thing that turned me away from the Micron was the editing matrix. Very different from a typical VA synth.

  • yeah i hear ya. this thing is let down by the lack of buttons. to sequence something you have to use the control knob for alot of the time. It tool about half an hour just to program something as simple as this but I guess you get what ya pay for like everything these days. thanks for comment :)
