The Actual CPU is based of the IBM POWER7 line which even at it's LOWEST level still outperforms the top-of-the-line Core i7. The GPU hasn't been confirmed yet (although the R700 GPU has been discredited due to nintendo not being sure what it would be) but my guess is that it will be more closely based of of the 6870 rather than the 4870.

@smallville0forever i believe they also were not using the correct gpu or cpu... the gpu if i remeber right is a radeon along the 5800 series and the cpu is either a power7 or power6 by ibm...though i imagine that if the gpu is a 5800 (2010 tech) then they might use power6 which is also 2010... both chips however are 6 to 8 cores..just power6 doesn't have as good an integrated 3rd cache level..is it next gen? yes... but just barely... 360 and ps3 are technically outdated now.

1080p graphics are followed by 1620p anyways, but that won't even be out next generation. Also, have fun waiting 4 extra years to get next-gen graphics and paying $100 extra for little difference.
What made the Wii so great was it's price and motion control system. Now the Wii 2 will cost the same as the 80gb PS33 and the first Xbox360. So, what does Sony and Microsoft do to compete, another price cut. So, you get slighty better graphics with the Wii 2 at a higher price than the other consoles giving Sony and Micrsoft a long awaied break fom getting killed by nintendo for 6 years..
The wii is going to be another low budget console. Nintendo should have waited for at least a decade before releasing a new console because comparing consoles a decade apart is night and day. Graphics tech is gonna plateau, the ps3 and 360 had such good graphics that to the human eye, there will be limited differences between them now and the next gen. pc's with hardware almost twice as good as the ps3 will not have graphics twice as good, but only slightly better. if the ps4 and 720 have better graphics than the wii u a) they had to catch up as the wii u comes out a good year at least before their consoles b) it will be slight.

For the price it cost to buy a game console a couple more hundred dollars would get you a better then console PC. Personally, I dont want one. But what a high end pc has to do with anything. What made the Wii so great was it's price and motion control system. Now the Wii 2 will cost the same as the 80gb PS33 and the first Xbox360. So, what does Sony and Microsoft do to compete, another price cut. So, you get slighty better graphics with the Wii 2 at a higher price than the other consoles giving Sony and Micrsoft a long awaied break fom getting killed by nintendo for 6 years..

The wii is going to be another low budget console. Nintendo should have waited for at least a decade before releasing a new console because comparing consoles a decade apart is night and day. Wii U will not be able to compete with the new xbox and playstation consoles because this one matches the generation they have now. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND WAIT FOR SONY AND MICROSOFT'S NEW CONSOLES!

The plus side is that the wii u is a portable device and due to the graphic capability of the portable device I do agree it is impressive. He said the differences in Crysis 2 on the 360 & Crysis 2 on the custom "Wii 2" were subtle, yet noticeable? If they were able to run Crysis 2 at 1920x1080p on Wii 2 as opposed to 360's sub HD res of under 720p, then differences would not be "subtle", they would be HUGE. More than double the res, textures set to very high etc His statement about "subtle" was a horrible. According to their findings, wii 2 is capable of running PC level graphics. Meaning the differences would be huge.

i dont see how graphics matter when playing a game, i could understand if the graphics were so bad it impeded the game play, but overall i dont think gaphics matter at all. it boils down to gameplay, controls and story, maybe some good voice acting, and if i have to get all that in an 8-bit game, im fine with that

Graphics tech is gonna plateau, the ps3 and 360 had such good graphics that to the human eye, there will be limited differences between them now and the next gen. pc's with hardware almost twice as good as the ps3 will not have graphics twice as good, but only slightly better. if the ps4 and 720 have better graphics than the wii u a) they had to catch up as the wii u comes out a good year at least before their consoles b) it will be slight.
