The specs say there are 10 programmable buttons. Does that mean the DPI buttons can be remapped to do other things, or are they strictly used for adjusting DPI?
lol i bought a razer deathadder from amazon and it is TERRIBLE. the lift off distance was a major problem since i play at a high sensitivity. whenever i lift up my mouse, i end up looking at the sky when playing FPS. I am returning my deathadder and getting the g500 instead.
@LeGaben cause it helps you do better? lol you can turn around faster and do tricks like 360s with snipers when you want lol. its like asking xbox people why they use 10 or 9 sensitivity...
@BeOnFilms no i play alteriwnet which is the exact same as mw2 on steam except there are dedicated servers. on these servers, they go up to 8 rounds. i have a screenshot if u wanna see. lol i have screenshots of me going 24-1, 28-2, 35-5, and 104-10 in FFA and in these servers, FFA is 10 minutes and unlimited score.
I bought this same mouse awhile back and it was great for surfing the web and playing games that come with windows but it wasn't the best for gaming. I now have a razer mamba and love it, the death adder is another great one for gaming.
No, thanks. I don't want one thousand lights flashing at me. Razer's mice are good when it comes to features, but they have too much "show off" "features". I'm not 13-years-old.
is anyone else experience a high pitch buzzing sound when the mouse is just sitting there not being used? It's super irritating and I can make it stop when I rest the mouse half on the side of my keyboard.
@intellimouseFTW No even when everything is unplugged, tried it all. I put my ear right to the mouse and u can hear it. I've read other people with this problem as well.
@intellimouseFTW ya I would check out other brands. I wouldn't recommend this one lol. Maybe Razer or Steelseries Kinzu which are some things I'm actually checking out. Or maybe my hearing is just sensitive or all gaming mouse have it... If you do get it, put your ear right close to it to see if itz buzzing lol
@spruceshark I tried the Kinzu and it is TERRIBLE. The stock mouse feets that came with it were terrible as the friction was too much, and the bad negative acceleration on the mouse pisses me off. I waited for firmware updates by steelseries to fix the issue but until now there was none so meh, I sold it off.
Best gaming mouse I've owned, it's a shame about the weight cartridges, put them in back to front and had to use a knife to take it out. No damn indication on the cartridge, aside from that it's PERFECT for both comfortable and precise gaming and general desktop usage.
@Bradley2994 hmm, if you were directing that comment towards the owner if this vid, then you are a dumbass and not him. He said he does use it for gaming but likes how the moving wheel continues to move so you can kind of scroll down faster on the web pages without having to constantly move your finger.
Also I found all of his information very useful. He talks about using the side buttons to go back to previous web page, something I will use on a profile. And will set another profile for gam
- sidebuttons feel little bit hard maybe i just use it some weeks and its normal
~ DUUUUUDE MY SCROLLING WHEEL NEEDS 45 SECONDS TO STOP !!!! WHAT THE HELL DOCUMENT EVER I WANT TO SCROLL 45 SECONDS? IN THIS TIME I CAN TAKE A SHIT AND SMOKE A CIGARETTE, TRAVEL TO AFRICA AND BACK !!!!!!
I just got the mouse today. Not bad for a $50 mouse. I used to have a microsoft intellimouse and the dpi increase is very noticable. Without the weights, it ways the same as a regular optical mouse and that's my preference. I found adding the weights made my hand tire easily.
One issue I have with the g500 is that it's a slightly larger grip than I'm used to and so my hands do cramp after a bit. I think I just need to get used to it and it'll be fine.
people who moan about it being wired....this is a GAMING mouse, so when playing a game you will need a wire because the precision needs to be as perfect as possible, plus you don't want to loose battery power halfway through a game also it saves you a lot of money on batteries, oh and by the way the mouse is EXTREMELY good 5/5
just tried this mouse at my friend and i've have to say that the mouse is just pure awesomeness!! definately going to buy this soon! shape is amazing, as well as all buttons feel perfect, hyper scroll, material is nice, 5700dpi, gaming-grade laser...
I upgraded from my old 518 that was about to give up its ghost. I'm a little bit disappointed because the surface is very "dry" so your hand doesn't really stick to it like it did on the shiny plastic used on the 518.
I'd rather use a 518 for the grip... BUT the increased resolution is really noticeable so I'll have to make do.
@Quinqui31 The mouse is very light weight without the cartridge inserted. You insert small weights in the cart (1.7g & 4.5g that are included) to get the desired weight.
hey i got this mouse and i got a problem.when i move my mouse really fast it seems to not be able to track the movements correctly and goes in the opposite direction i'm actually moving it :[
Just Got this mouse A few days ago. i have to say it is amazing.. i use the highest DPI Settng for Web browsing/Desktop and the second highest for gaming
@DutchFreezeR put some painter's tape or masking tape on the sides of ur death adder (glossy surfaces) and your hands won't get sweaty. plus it adds grip. your mouse won't look the best but no sweaty hands + grip = death adder even better.
@StarLuster357 I actually just bought the Mamba yesterday and i ended up returning it for the Logitech G500, the mouse itself is really comfortable and has the best click i have ever felt on a mouse, but at $138 dollars after tax for a mouse when this Mouse has Superior Tracking at 5700DPI and the same Ridiculously high Polling of 1000HZ as the razer, at half the price, this mouse kicks ass. The software and button editing is superior and the tracking and clicks are on par with the Mamba.
@StarLuster357 If you absolutely need wireless then the hybrid mode that the Mamba has is quite nice, you can go from Wired mode to the wireless mode in 2 seconds, and has the tracking of a wired mouse, but if you don't need wireless as a must, then the G500 is more than perfect, im happy i went with the G500 over the Mamba. It even has more customizable buttons than the Mamba and the customizable weights that the Mamba lacks as well. Great mouse.
I had a Logitech g5 Version 2. It had some serious! tracking issues so I got rid of it. I'm now using a SS xai which is the best mouse I've ever used. But as far as logitech's new lazer engine it's actually really really nice. This would be my second choice behind the xai.
Lowering the DPI lowers the "precision". It does make the mouse move slower, but if you want precision, you should always keep the DPI as high as it goes and keep the software sensitivity low.
@aaronmonto , not at all, everyone says dpi but in real that is CPI and has nothing to do with precision. It describe how fast the pointer will move, and thats all...
More CPI can only let u play on higher sensitivity without skipping some pixels on the screen if u are a high sens player.
Having more CPI that u actually need for 1:1 move does not increase precision at all.
looks like a great mouse. i am using a G5 right now, and is very satisfied with it. Too bad the G500 is wired, cus i am thinking about upgrading to wireless

@SuperEpicWin going to wireless is not really an upgrade, its different and comes with way more disadvantages, while the only advantage it has is that it doesnt have a cord which i dont really worry about anyways.

I actually have used both the G500 and the Adder.
I liked the option of rugged scrolling or smooth scrolling, the ability to add weaight, the more buttons, and the dpi change on G500.
I liked how smooth the Adder moved on my mousepad and I like the ergonomics more (which is subjective).
However my Adder only lasted 1 year, while my G500 still works 2 years later.

Lowering the DPI lowers the "precision". It does make the mouse move slower, but if you want precision, you should always keep the DPI as high as it goes and keep the software sensitivity low.

Having more CPI that u actually need for 1:1 move does not increase precision at all.
