  • Love your tutorial! but How would you do this with long hair? my hair is just past my breast by 2 inches my hair is straight? wavy and its kinda thick. I love the 60s!:)

  • MY HAIR WENT FLAT WHEN I TOOK THE PIN CURLS OUT! x_x

  • you are so adorable, and so helpful. thanks! ^-^

  • Your Youtube fans are waiting patiently...

  • so prettyyyy~ i love 60ss hair :)

  • As a guy (more or less your age) who also has a fascination (and preference) for almost anything out of the 1940's-1970's, I must say that I actually (but not surprisingly) admire a girl who has a genuine interest in the styles of the 1930's-1960's. In fact, I find it rather sexy...

... and to get back on topic, the way you look with this hairstyle... well... you've put a grin on my face..... (I'm nodding with my eyebrows).. ;-)

  • OMG love your hair! I've always been a huge fan of this style, but whenever I try to search tutorials on it, people always get the bouffant confused with the beehive. This is just what I needed. Oh, and I love that psychadelic rock n' roll music in the background! I'm totally into 60's music and style. :)

  • Wow, mate. That made me smile. Thanks, from downtown Geebung, Queensland.

  • you're so beautiful i wish i could marry you

  • fab

  • Sooo relaxing to watch

  • This tutorial rules. I'm obsessed with Marilyn Munster at the moment, so rest assure this tutorial will be used to the hilt.

  • i have really long hair but i wanna do this hairdo so badly at the same time not cutting my hair short! :( any idea?

  • You are ripped.

  • That was the easiest and most straight-forward video I've seen thus far. Thanks for the great tips...

  • my hair is naturally curled at the tips do i still have to do the begining step?

    BTW: love youre tutorial

  • Comment removed

  • That was the cutest kid ever

  • A pretty girl with pretty hair

  • THIS IS GORGEOUS! :O

  • Will this work on wavy or curly hair too, or do i have to straighten?

  • I've kept this in the back of my mind since i had my hair really short! NOW ITS FINALLY LONG ENOUGH TO DO THIS yayy

  • how many time do I must have the pin curls?

  • where can I get the inserts to avoid the teasing? what do they look like? thanks!! love your videos!

  • where can I get the inserts to avoid the teasing? what do they look like? thanks!! love your videos!

  • Ur creepy and u don't have kids

  • @79mamadee troll

  • Not bad. In my school girls put tons of hairspray on the finished style, to the point where strong winds wouldn't blow it out of place. The bouffants also tended to be a lot bigger; girls' heads wouldn't fit completely in the yearbook picture. The top tended to be bangs or a tight flipping curl on the right or left. I can't believe the younger generation is trying this. Fun!

  • I'll do it!

  • I loved it so much, it reminds me of samantha from bewitched :^) I should try to do this style some time, I've really wanted too, but I just haven't found the time with school and all.

  • Really suits you! Love the tutorial :)

  • Where would be somewhere you could wear your hair like this to?

  • Reminds me of Jackie Kennedy

  • Do u go out I public like that?? I like the hair :)

  • "pin curls hold the curls in better and stronger and last all day."

"if you go with pin curls be sure to use quite a bit of product..."

So...do you think those two statements may somehow correlate? rofl

  • Bouffants are great! I would like to see a longer version

  • lovely.

  • that aint a bouffant... least not the type i mean

  • This is sooo pretty

  • i love this thank you so much! you look really lovely with this vintage hair style

btw i love the song who plays it?

    take care

  • i love your hair tutorials! :) thanks a bunch hun! i love vintage<3

  • i'm so glad i stumbled upon this video..

my school is doing hairspray this year for the musical and this will help all the girls in styling their hair for the show :)

  • I think yours is the most authentic 60s hair tutorial on youtube!

  • This looks totally amazing!

  • I wear my hair just like this all the time, and you taught me how to get it just perfect! Thank you SO much <3

  • Your hair is very pretty! I REALLY wish I could do it, but my hair reaches to my lower back, so it's more 70's than 60's. I can do a beehive though. You did an amazing job!!!!

  • You look like a Mori girl, it's great.

  • Great look! Very "Peggy" or "Betty" from Mad Men (that's a compliment BTW, that's my fave show!) Thanks for keeping vintage styles accessible and encouraging anyone's who's willing to just give it a shot! :)

  • your so pretty

  • And ... Thank you for the tutorial. I was looking how to make a bouffant. This video is very well explained. And you have beautiful hair. I'm almost jealous: D

Sorry for the mistakes of English. I'm French! I hope you understand me anyway.

  • I fell in love with your song. She's awesome. I love it. I looked in the comments if someone could tell me who was the author of this song. I was pleasantly surprised that it's a song of you. It is captivating. So sixties.

Do you have a myspace? Or a site where you expose your music? I'd love to know other things!

  • Soooo much work!!

  • btw, you look ALOT like Sofia Coppola!

  • My mom did her hair just like this when she was in high school! She just watched this with me and loved the trip down memory lane. She said she teased her hair exactly the same way. I was looking through her yearbook and it's amazing how popular the bouffant was. I like the 60's style better than the updated modern version. It's more sleek and styled, rather than Amy Winehouse-ish. Thanks for a great video :)

  • @Tabbyinblack Awe, thank you so much! ^_^

  • This is amazing! Just what I need. Thankyou so much

  • thats amazing! really good job. tomorrow is dress like your favorite decade day at my school. since i know everyone is going 80s, i'm going 60s :)

  • @llpowers We hav that at my school 2, but it goes by class, like now im a junior and its 70's style, seniors are 80's and sophmores are 60's and ect. I luv decade day lol. Im going mod for halloween tho :) I luv the 60's :)

  • the 60's looks rule!!

  • Hi! Great vids. You make the styles look absolutely gorgeous :)

I was just wondering, if I leave in the curls overnight then prep my hair like this in the morning, will it last me until night time (when the party that I'm dressing up for is on)? Can I revamp it if it's gone flat? If so, how?

    Thanks so much!

  • @oxo0oxo Yes, it should last you until night time just fine! Mine always lasts me the whole day, and even the next day (although it's a different style by then)

Sorry about the late reply, take care!

  • you are so cute

  • This is one of the most authentic (and beautiful) 1960s bouffant tutorials I've seen on Youtube. I guess a lot of people don't like/get the sculpted and structured look of older hairstyles, because when they do something like a bouffant they modernize it by making it messy... ick! This is much better, so feminine and sweet. Love it!

  • I've been trying to figure out how to do this forever. This was so helpful! thanks!

  • How long do you leave the pin curls in?

  • Great video, I read somewhere the bouffant was coming back in style so this is right on time!

  • Totally subscribed. I LOVE LOVE LOVE these styles you do!

  • @KMurphyallthetime Thank you so much! :))

  • You look like Regina Spektor.

I love your music, by the way, and thanks so much for doing these videos. Everyone else doing these vintage hairstyles is doing them to be fashionable in the modern day, which is fair enough, but you actually seem passionate about the nostalgia of the hairdo and not just following a trend.

    Thanks :) x

  • @07mojopin Thank you so much!!!! I think it's the lighting, I don't think I look like Regina in real life... funny how that works :)

  • I love theese. Hardly anyone does these older hairstyle videos anymore and you do them really well too.

And I love the music it adds so much to the atmosphere!

  • @BeatlesSheLovesYou Awe, thank you so much!!!

  • Bump-it's shmump-it's!!! haha I can tease hair like the trashiest 60's gal ;D

  • I cant believe I havent seen you on youtube before.. I love you! Cant wait to try the pageboy :)!xo

  • @HelloKt93 Awe, thank you darling! :)

  • Wow, I love your hair (:

How exactly do you create pin curls though?

It may be different with me though, I have very long hair that reaches the small of my back :/ x

  • love your vids music is awfull

  • @nylonTS That's so mean, after all, I make the music! It's that or silence, I can't use copyrighted music.

  • @StrawberryKoiVintage Love the music as much as the videos!

  • @dainahkatt Wow, that means so much to hear! Thank you :)

  • how long do the pins have to stay in when you pin curl?

  • @Gabriela451 The bobby pins are for creating the pin curls, but the pin curls themselves are the bits of hair coiled up into a spiral (which causes them to take curl when set for a period of time). :)

  • ewww.. dont use hairspray to backcomb!!!!! Especially cheap hairspray.

  • @AMJH86 Hey, it did the trick and my hair is still in beautiful condition... So I can't say I see anything wrong with it ;)

  • thats beautiful!

  • Love this! I just discovered your videos :) I love the old dick van Dyke tv show and Mary Tyler Moore is just divine. This hair style also reminds me of Samantha Stevens from Bewitched (Love her!) Also it's very mad men. I'm pretty happy this era is back "in style". It's my favorite.

  • I loooove girls who wear their hair like this. This mary tyler moore hairstyle is so cute and adorable it is precisely the reason why I asked out my last girlfriend.

  • How would I do think if my hair is already naturally curly? As in, ringlets. Would I need to straighten it all first, then do the pin curls? :) Your hair is gorgeous, by the way. :)

  • @L0zzzi1 Thank you so much! I would probably straighten it first... sounds like a chore, but I think it would have the best results :)

  • i love that hairdo! they should bring it back

  • If you are doing this hairstyle consistently, what type of haircut should I tell my hairdresser? I currently have just a layered hair-cut, longer with layers.

  • @perditablue I would say a softly-layered bob, just at or past your shoulders :)

  • All your videos are fantastic! I really love how you dress in clothes from the era in addition to the hairdos :)

  • @LifeTheUniverseAndPi Thank you so much! :))

  • Can you please give me tips on getting an even bouffant without your hair separating along your usual part?

  • @mf2101 Oh, that can be tough for me too! You might have to set the hair by brushing it back and pinning it in place, so that the part doesn't set and hold it's natural shape. Other wise, teasing it and using a firm hairspray is your only option! :(

  • @StrawberryKoiVintage Thanks! I'm going to a wedding soon, so want to try out something new...

  • totally wearing this to see Paul McCartney tomorrow! thank you!!

  • you suit this look, i like the 60s style of hair and make up on women, they wernt too skinny then either

  • ack, thanks but my hair is too crazy fluffy after I take out the curls, I end up looking like a lion instead :(

  • @elementguy1979 Thank you for your sweet comment :)

  • You remind me of Helen in the 1968 "Night of the Living Dead". Interesting

  • @MmeLEnfer Hm, I can't say that I see it ^.^; I think it's just this hairstyle, thank you for watching!

  • Cool, good background music. And I like the scrapbook picture on your website :)

  • @cookmoore Thank you so much :)

  • I love all your videos on vintage hairstyle's.This is one of my fav ones coz I love the 60's look. :)

  • WoW ur GOOD!!

  • I love the 1960's look.

You captured it very well and are quite becoming.

  • thank you very much! i did it today, and it's so nice :D

  • You don't have to apply hairspray, silly! It's a recommendation, lol! *rolls eyes*

  • Lol. :'D i cant do that to my hair anyways. my hair ish to curly and frizzy :/

  • I playing Patricia Fodor (The tourist people from England). The guy who plays Eugene and i have decided to play it as a married couple instead of siblings. We're about in our 30's (i don't know if that matters or anything.)

  • Hi! I commented on this video awhile ago talking about who i did this hair style for my musical Alison. I am in yet another musical Crazy for You. It takes place in the 1930's and i've been searching for some videos on how to do them but couldn't find any successfully! So i was wondering if you could post a video on how to do some 30's hair styles. Thank you soo much! Still LOVE your videos!

  • hey i could help out i was in this musical too a long time ago lol ..now what character will you be playing?

  • Hey how do you do pin curls and where do you place them on your hair?

  • I have two videos on pin curls, I hope they help you out!! :))

  • hey what brand is your hair spray?

  • Tresemme :)

  • thanks. :)

  • What a great video! Your such a great teacher! Such a great retro hairstyle but oddly it also reminds me of Bree Van De Kamp off Desperate Housewives.

  • when i do a bouffant, i do really tight curls on the crown, or where ever I want the bouffant to fall... I comb it out, and it creates this really freeze curl with tons of volume.. pin it in the back, and comb the front so it could be smooth.. and it stays alllll day...no teasing. just an fyi. Cause teasing really hurts the hair. love ur tutorials.

  • Thank you :) That is definitely a way to do it, and there are many ways. Any curl creates volume, as well as blow-drying upside down etc, etc. As for teasing, as long as you take the correct measures it will not damage the hair... I have been teasing my hair a long time, and my hair is very smooth and healthy :)

  • Gosh. us women are so amazing with all our beauty tricks and techniuqes.

its great to be a girl.

  • @shazam15 n we appreciate your natural beauty!

  • This is very "Mary Tyler Morre" WOW!

  • I work in a nursing home. so finding this channel was like heaven to me! Thanks

  • My Mom used to wear this hairdo back in the 60s. She looked really groovy!

  • Very Girly,Love it:)

  • now wait a minute.i have to run and look at mom's photo album.

  • I just watched this and Thank you ! It really inspired me to be more glamorous with my hair. The Sixties bouffant is really easy to do and looks really chic. I am going to give it a try. I love your look too !

  • Omg, my math teacher has hair exactly like that. Same color and everything. IT NEVER MOVES!

  • When I saw ur video, I immediately subscribed!! I'm in love with everything vintage and i love all the hairstyles u created... and i do envy your attire... i'm working on finding vintage clothes too. =D

  • Awe, thank you so much! That's the sweetest thing to say! :D

I'm sure you'll start hitting a nitch with finding clothes, until then perhaps you can check eBay or Etsy where the finds are slightly easier :)

  • Is there a name for the hairstyle before you do the teasing? I like that curled out look

  • I've only ever seen it called the "Mary Tyler Moore" hairstyle or "the (60's) Flip" :) Sorry about the late reply!

  • That style looks like it was made for you. So beautiful! :) These tutorials are incredibly awesome!

  • I just wanted to say a late thank you! :)

  • OH MY GOODNESS! i have been looking for a page like yours for forever! im absolutly in love with the classics. thank you so so so much. :]

  • Thank you! That's so sweet :)

  • I Love your clothes!! I wish I could find old fashioned dresses that fit me!! I would wear them all the time, right now I only have one :-( I will work on finding some!! ~Erin

  • That is rough! I remember when I only had two vintage dresses, and it was such a bummer because I felt like my other clothes didn't fit my personality... now I have accumulated over 20 vintage dresses, and that's just the ones I've kept for myself! It takes time to collect them, but it does happen! And I really vouch for eBay and Etsy :)

  • LOVE IT!

I love this look it's so much better than the lame-o things of today.

  • Your videos are awesome. I am a big old

movie fan and this is one of my favorite styles. My hair is half way down my back and I don't know that Im brave enough to cut it but if I do I would do this style as often as possible. I love to tease my hair in a Bardot-esque way but it seems to fall within 10 minutes. Tips?

  • Sorry for the late reply!

I don't know if it's very possible to do this hairstyle with very long hair... though at the same time, I have seen it done with longer hair! It's quite a different effect, but still beautiful in its own way :))

  • Very nice! I have my hair like that everyday, it's alot of hard work and my hair goes damadged from all the backcombing but totally worth it!

  • I just wanted to say that I've watched all your videos and have learned a lot! This year I was in a musical called Alison and I needed to learn how to do a bouffant hairstyle and I watched your video. On hair a makeup day my director was so inpressed that I learned how to do it. Then I started to do ALL the girls hair for the musical! Just wanted to say thanks. And that you are sooooo pretty!!!!

  • That's amazing!!! Thank you for sharing that with me, and making my night! =^_^=

  • Wow! Thank you for posting this video and for promoting the classic, vintage styles. A pretty lady with a classic hairstyle. Now that's as fine as it gets.

  • Exactly. There is nothing more feminine than being classic... :)

  • I Love all them shows.

And i love that hair style [:

  • Beautiful!!! :D I'm going to try doing this, but i don't know because my hair is SO poofy and mixed up, so do you know any hairstyles for poofy hair stuff?? Because again my hair is really poofy and has soo many curls but i was looking for a classic hairstyle look for my hair. :)

  • Do you think I could just use a flat iron for the ends?

I'm poor so I have to work with what I have D:

  • A flat iron would definitely make it curl up, but the curls will not have enough strength to curl like the hairstyle I did in the video... what part is to expensive? I'm poor too, that's why I learned how to do pin-curls before I saved up for a flat iron and a curling iron, haha :)

  • Oh haha, Hmm.. What're pin curls?

Just your hair wrapped in bobby pins?

    :O

I don't know how to curl my hair with a curling iron!

I always use my flat iron for that xD

But, I need one of those hair push up things

instead of teasing my hair - How much are those?

  • Watch my two pin curl videos, they should really help... and all you need are bobby pins, or at least some sort of clips :)

I've heard you can pick up the bump it at Wallgreens for only $10, but either way you'll have to tease your hair... the bump it just makes for LESS teasing, which is nice. But as long as you are gentle teasing your hair, and don't over do it... teasing wont damage your hair. I've been doing it for some time now, and I have 0 damage :)

  • Okay I'll watch them :D

Ahh - I just hate having to comb my hair out after

    I tease it!

I'll totally go to Walgreens and buy one though.

If I need anymore help I'm coming to you xD

I need help for a Family Reunion hairstyle.

    Think you could help? :O

  • hmmm... well, I would probably do loose curls (which you can do with a flat iron!) and pin the sides up to give it a bit of old glamor and sophistication :) It's my favorite hairstyle to wear, because it's soft yet classy! Good luck with everything ^__^

  • It's great to see how women actually did it back then. Lot's of work!

  • Hi!

I love all of your video's, they have helped me a lot! :) I do have a quick question though, (if you don't mind... :D) do all of your vintage hairstyles work with bangs too?

    PS: You're SO pretty!

    Thanks alot!

    Janne

  • Awe, thank you so much!!

Most of my hairstyle work well with bangs.... it's the pompadour ones that make it difficult, other than that, I think most of my hairstyles can be adapted to short bangs :)

  • Thank you for doing this! I like dressing from different eras (I did 40s a few weeks ago) and next month I am dressing 60s for my friend's wedding (I am making my own dress! Butterick vintage) I intend to do this hairstyle and I am going to thank you in advance :)

  • You're welcome!! Thank you for sharing :D

  • That's very interesting! I wish I had the time to dress up in different eras. My parents don't want /allow me to dress too old fashioned. Even though I don't like the clothes of this decade.

  • the bump it sux i wasted 40 bux on them they dont work

  • Oh, that's too bad :( Doesn't make me want to try it... lol

  • o my gosh i love your dress!!!! where did you get it?

  • Etsy :) Thank you!

  • You did a really good job! It looks totally vintage. I've seen many pictures of people's moms wearing this look. It looks very beautiful on you :) Good job :)

    -Iris on Youtube

  • If you're going to buy some bump its, get the "hollywood" ones. I got the original and it didn't volumize my hair enough.

  • i dont know why but in this vedio you remind me of the girl from the music vedio tear you apart by the band she wants revenge.loveing the hair btw
