Just got this car from my aunt for my 16th birthday im so excited to fix it up and restore it to what it would have looked liked brand new in 88....cant wait
3 people missed the like button ... i had a 92 Honda Accord ..it was amazing but the exterior rust was a lot but the engine could have been running till 2021 my mechanic said ..but unfortunately the right rear side got hitt by a big truck so the rear wheel didnt move so it had to go to the scrap!! :'(
I had a Saab and I also had the fuel injected version of your Accord. Having worked on both cars, I'd never own another Saab, but loved the Accord. The only problem with the Accord was rust issues which it looks as if yours has escaped that problem. Great handling cars that are nice to work on. That was probably the best generation Accord.
Haha that accord ALWAYS BROKE. but we loved it so much. supposedly the 93 accord generation was supposed to be really good. we have an 07 accord ex-l five speed, they don't build them like they used to. but we love that car too and it gets wonderful gas mileage. nowhere near what the 88 got.
I think I shed a tear or two. This was the car I came home from the hospital in when I was born :(. Our car was named Tina. We sold it a few years ago because of carborator issues that would just not be worth the money. Miss this car and great video!
@kbeano7 Aw, I feel your pain! I came home in my father's saab, in fact, me and all of my siblings did. She's long gone now unfortunately, due to the engine blowing up. This accord had tons of carburator issues, i think we ended up having it rebuilt 3 times. Darn Hitachi carburators!
@stefanieem His name is Justin! I miss the car, I'm 15 now and he said he would have given it to me =/ Especially since i need to learn stick, and we have no cars to do that in (at least that my parents would let me drive!)
i have da same care dark grey manual i said dat it had a leaky oil pan was it da honda? hese cars all have da same issue my was leaking from 2 areas chrged me $450 o fix it sorry 4 ur loss
I have a 1988 2dr LXi hatchback. It's got 176k miles on it. I've had it a year and I bought it from a friend of mine who is the original owner. I love that car. Just had it painted, new door panel vinyl, nice wheels, and a LOJACK! What an awesome car!
I painted it Silver (original color Misty Beige)...it's all the same. It came out really nice, considering Maaco did it. They removed the emblems and did a great masking job. Even took out a couple of big dents (that I didn't do). If I knew how to post a pic on here, I would. I can email you a couple if you give me an email address.
Wow. I had an '88 Honda DX, 5-speed, same color, and 4 door. My parents made me sell it and when it left, a little bit of me left too. I LOVED THAT CAR! It was a go-anywhere do-anything vehicle. I even took it down into the woods hunting and once had an 8-point deer in the trunk...head out one side and legs out the other. I would love to have another but I'd want the top end model with the sunroof. It was a sweet model.
I am proud to report I just sold my white Accord LXI with 345,000 miles. The engine was original and the heads have never been off. Everything works (cruise, cassette, headlights, windows, ac, roof, etc. The car has the ORIGINAL starter and alternator !! I replaced the clutch one time, the radiator one time, axles one time. It was one of my all time favorite cars. My friend needed it for his daughter so I sold it. There is no doubt I could have gotten another 100,000 miles easy from it.
Never been rebuilt! Just had the inspection done with emissions testing and EVERYTHING passed. Amazing considering the mileage and how stringent the EPA has gotten on emissions. Even the light bulbs in the doors, glove box and passenger mirror still work and are original. Pretty amazing. I love this car and I won't part with it. No payments, GREAT gas mileage and low insurance costs are a BIG plus too.
The honda acords from 1987-1994 seem to be the best the LX like you have are okay but o personally would like the LXi modles that sucks taht you have to sell itn though
Nice car, I just bought an 86' lxi accord with 116k original miles for $1000.I'm sure it will last me a few years and the great part is everything still works!
By that do you mean on this car or in general? They are awesome and they work on this car, they have a little switch that makes them pop up and go back down.
I miss the noice it made because of the hole in the muffler. I miss the big ass muscles I had because of the difficulty of turning it because of a Power Steering Fluid leak. We traded it for a 2005 Acura MDX. I miss it, but I also LOVE the MDX.
Aw, that makes me think back to MY 1988 Accord. It was blue, with the plastic bumpers and all, and dark blue interior. What a machine, been through 3 generations. I was a baby and had my umbrella in there and poked the ceiling alot. Was playing hockey next to it when I was 12, and my hockey stick intruded the piece of rust just under the right taillight and made a hole.
i know it could have been fixed easy. We just don't have the cash to fix her. Its beem sittin in our driveway 4 awhile! and with a little care ur honda could look like this

I might add, mine was the same colour, 4 door, but had a black dash, not brown.
I got her up to 180KM/H one time...
She bit the dust at 287 000km's..., only cause the body was rusting out, engine was great.
