I grew up with the MC5. They sucked then, they suck now, and will continue to suck forever. People who liked them then, now, and in the future, just plain sucked, suck, and will suck!
danielgirard...you are way off dude by about two years. Yes, Fred is wearing the same outfit he wore at eh Rock n' roll revival....but this is two years later in 71'. I was at this show.
i wonder if Kramer had ANY idea how cool he was? i just recently got into this bands music- i can't believe i lived this long without ever finding these guys!!! no wonder Alice Cooper and Ted Nugent always spoke so highly of the MC5 music. God rest Rob Tyner and Sonic, what a shame this band split up so early.....another 15 too 20 albums from these maniacs would have been awsum!!!!!!
@rockhardugly I always like to think it was better that they split up. They were legends, ya know. I don't think America wasn't quite ready for em'. But they paved the way for this awesome thing.
This is a rare clip. They are playing at the Grande Ballroom and the date would be roughly somewhere between The Spring and the Fall of 1969. Fred Sonic Smith is the guy in the gold outfit and he wore this same outfit at the Detroit Rock and Roll Revival which was in June of 1969.
so freaking explosive early metal at its best
