  • No idea why i learner every word of this song (Both parts) as a 12 year old in 1978, and still remmeber every word when it gets its annual outing on radio 2!

  • @kramer2088

I was the same age and yes I remember all the words too...... funny because most of the time now I can't remember what day it is!!!!

  • Timeless fantastic song, great memories

  • Played today on Radio 2 by Simon Mayo. Brilliant.

  • Haven't been able to get this song out of my head for the past 33 years. I'm wondering do I need professional help.

  • @bargeanimal

May I say that firstly,You do not need Professional help,You are only suffering from the Dean Friedman syndrome.

Although it is pandemic amongst Dean Friedman fans,It is one ailment that We hope they never find a cure for.

  • @bargeanimal relax, man... there's a few of us kickin' around - all is well.

  • not sure why i was thinking about this song this morning!

  • Brilliant song! I now realise that Dean and I had something in common that stays to this Day i.e A full head of dark hair in the 70's and a full head of grey hair Today.

  • Love the Sax break. That's what pop songs today are missing in my opinion

  • Dean is an excellent song writer, bought this and Lydia many moons ago, must go and dig out the old 45s.

  • I have to agree with all the good comments below.... lots of memorys

  • Nice and Cheeesey! but memorable

  • Brilliant song, love it.

  • Its just fab, as sometimes a song says it all for you. it did for mexxx

  • :) This song reminds me of "Barcelona" from the musical "Company"--both are "dialogue" songs.

  • great song; I used to play it over and over.

  • 10 out of 10 for that porno tash!

  • great song !!

  • does anyone know the name of the song dean sings at the end of the bbc clip on her about his wife asking what he does????? fab song

  • Did the whole of America smell of perm solution in the '70's ?

  • @gbshaun Thanks to YouTube we can remember all of this, you are right about the perm solution of the 70's

  • This song's like a bad car crash. You know it's going to be painful, but you can't turn away and even go back to watch it again !

  • no wonder he is seeing his ex - does that bitch ever stop whinging at him?

  • Tash-tastic.......................

  • why do i like this????????????????

  • "A well crafted song"? - Oh yeah? with lines like "Listen hun, I know you're dumb, but that's ok, you don't have to look so glum".

The lyrics are of a standard that a school kid would scribble down in the back of an exercise book!

  • @superparamedic7 Well obviously my point is that a 'well crafted song' requires well crafted, well thought out lyrics. The lyrics to this are far from that. (I thought I'd made that point in my previous comment. How come you have some kind of difficulty understanding my point?)

  • @DBartlett95 the lyrics are telling a story. that, listen hun i know you're dumb is part of it. I just by pass that line.

  • wow loved this song it was out wen i was a kid.....

  • @mrnivag saw Dean a lot lately he does this song with audience doing the girl part trying to work up the courage to say 'i'll do it' i was considered a geek at 14 cos i liked him x

  • A very well crafted song. Beautiful melody.

  • What a bitchy cow.... Leave him alone...

  • this guys got some serious issues .whats he down about??maybe he should stop whinging and screw that bird on the piano.

  • Not sure about that 70’s porn star moustache

He may not be all that bright... but he knows how to fuck her right ...

  • She is the SPITTING image of a girl I went out with in 76! Jackie Moore!! PLEASE get in touch!!

  • John Holmes Boogie Nights!

  • Wonderful.

  • there are 57 tone deaf people who liked this song

  • @LostInThePast123 yeh well ur gay :D

  • OMG Avril I'm sooooooooooooooo sorry :(

  • ....I'm not so sure about the "well slide over here...." line!

  • @jamieharrison7 Aww, that line's cute!

  • Well its kind of cute, though I can see how its also very annoying. Some of the lines are awful, but I love "By the way, I forgot to say, your endearing mother called today." And the idea of it being like a conversational duet is nice, you don't see that very often if at all these days. Pity some people cant avoid getting into a slanging match on this site though

  • just love this song has so many fond memories for me !!!

  • It's good I enjoyed it, brings back memories

  • lol@ farfisa getting flamed by everyone! what a loser.

  • @bumpyjason That's what I'm here for you uneducated duvet. I am your entertainment. It is sad that you are so sad. Hahahaha! I'm laughing currently.x

  • @bumpyjason What are you crazy how in the hell can you say what you just said? I just don't believe you. You think it all revolves around you. Now come back to bed and hold me tight bumpyjason. mmm, I see why they call you bumpy.xxx

  • @farfisa ok im sorry! i love u x

  • shut up farfisa you weirdo.

  • @bumpyjason weirdo, you don't even know me. If you tell me to shut up again you'll be very very very sorry indeed. By the way, learn how to spell and use grammar, you uneducated piece of duvet.

  • @farfisa lol duvet? thtas a bit below the belt isnt it? oh by the way! SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU SAD CUNT!

  • @bumpyjason no need to repeat yourself. I heard you. Why are you so against Jews and Gays and Women and Blacks becuase clearly you are by the language you use. I find it utterly disgusting that you are allowed to walk ther earth. So narrow minded and so foul. Go back to your church you silly twerp.

  • @farfisa lol what the fuck are you on about? and what the fuck is a "ther"? you uneducated piece of duvet :o) am I going to be very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very sorry indeed now? btw I am black.

  • @bumpyjason It's easy to say you are black online. By the way I'm back online! Hahaha. Look, let's just nip this in the bud. I think you're sweet but not enough to buy you a new duvet. You know what I mean? What is your problem with dear Dean?

  • I love this song. Heard it the other day for the first time ever. :P ^__^

  • Great tune, blasted it out in the office today thanks to Chris Evans playing it.

  • 2nd best song-that-celebrates-the joys-of-being-daft-as-a-brush...EVER!!

  • The beauty of this record is that it could get into the chart in its time. It would have no chance now as the music buying public of today are just clueless. There are some pretty good acts out there such as The Pierces, Hurts but the reality is that all the public want is trash such as Lady Ga Ga, Adele, Hip-hop, etc.

  • so they are saying, we are both dumb?

  • Top tash Deano!!!!

  • Absolutely!!! It's terrible but.....I'm still listening!!!

  • MartiW

Ooooooooooooh touchy touchy! Calm down man/woman! If you like this abhoration so much, I'll leave you to it! Toodles!

  • @boabywoods fuck yourself. will anyone else?

  • "She still goes round as if

she's always stumbling off a cliff"

LMAO, that's up there with some of Shayne Ward's lyrics!

  • Me and my friend Maxine used to sing this to each other at shool breaks in the 80s... Very cheesy, but his album which it came from (Well, Well, Said The Rocking Chair) had some much better songs, notably 'Shoppiong Bag Ladies...'

  • always think of this song

  • this is one of the worst songs ever.. I might even include it on the list at my funeral cos I reckon it would get a laugh

  • Me and the guys in work were talking about music that they really hate and I remembered this carnage that scarred my childhood, and I had to show them what it was all about! Simple really! I can't say there was anything masochistic in my motives because I gained absolutely no pleasure from it. Hope this helps. Yours sincerely, Boab

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGHHH!!!!!

One of the most insipid, nauseating, utterly ANNOYING songs EVER written! This song, along with anything by Crystal Gayle and anything else in that genre makes me genuinely ANGRY!!!!!!! If I ever met Dean Friedman I would smash his face right in!!!

  • @boabywoods If that's how you feel, why come on here to listen to it, you must be masochist.

  • @boabywoods ... so fuck off then!

  • @boabywoods May I recommend the following as an alternative...

    watch?v=ZE_CUkUeWk8

  • bumpyjason's comment - I thought I was going to wet myself, classic.

  • I'd smoke myself to death but then they might give me a cancer nurse

  • 'hun, I know you're dumb'. bIt below the belt, isn't it? lol

  • The best aspect of attending college in England in 1979 was discovering Dean Friedman. This is an incredibly compelling tune.

  • Heard this on the radio this morning and it brought back the true horror of the song. The "I may not be all that bright" line had me shouting at the radio, as it always used to!

  • awful but addictive in a cheesey way......what a magnificent tache

  • When he sings near the end " then slide over here because I may not be all the bright"..I swear the next line should be " but I've got a boner tonight"...sorry :)

  • @yeovil50 such a funny twat. this is art, you go back to playing with your dummy

  • @farfisa ART?..HAHAHAHAHAHAHA:)...yeah if you say so:)...OH my sides are splitting Dean Friedman's "Lucky Stars"..being described as artt?...that is priceless:)

  • @yeovil50 I think I'm in love with you. I always like a challenge you see, ever since I was 2 and I learned how to use both my thumbs - you know what I'm talking about - but I think I could really educate you. Would you like to have a go with my hoop? I really like sporty duvets like yourself and I'm fresh on today so don't worry about wiping your keyboard. Now go and learn the alphabet - my hoop is waiting.

  • @farfisa Mentally deranged troll:)

  • @yeovil50 i love you and will be your troll anytime.x

  • @yeovil50 Well I may not be all that bright but I sure wanna hold you tight tonight. Come on baby! Mmmm Yeh!

  • Would be brilliant if all arguments could be solved that easily !

  • Just a fantastic song, I never gave it credit all those years ago but I have been giving it a lot of plays for the last few days and I just love it. its so innocent and the two voices are packed with feeling . but in the end nobody is hurt., Its a beautiful song.

It near brings a lump to my throat. love it !!.

  • "Listen hun, I know you're dumb, but that's okay, you don't have to look so glum" - classic shite lyrics.

  • i swear these two were the models for the Joy Of Sex book!

  • @bumpyjason and your point is? God how dull.

  • @farfisa lol did i piss you off?

  • @bumpyjason you really upset me.

  • @farfisa oh please forgive me! what was i thinking? making fun of what is obviously an institution in music! im so sorry. I just wished Dean Friedman & Denise Marsa rocked my world like they rock yours!

  • go on mate thats funny

  • omg i loved this song way bk when

  • Thats some kind of moustashe

  • This song is so dreadful but l just can't stop playing it. A classic...and I'm not just being nice. :)
