  • K, I already love you, but after you playing my favorite dong of all time, you are that much more awesome. I really cannot tell you how much I appreciate your music taste.... You play all of my favorites! You should come make a video or two up here in Ontario along the Queen Elizabeth Way or HWY 401

  • @the905sDW Thanks, I appreciate that, would love to film the Toronto area someday.

  • This is my hometown...Yeahhh!!!!!

  • You now the I-26/20 Intersection is the only 4 Leaf clover Intersection left in the State!

  • @growingup15 -I don't think so, the I-26/Business Loop 85 (Old I-85) in Spartanburg is still a cloverleaf.

  • @growingup15 Not to mention the I-26/95 Intersection too

  • Great columbia video now we have that new tower there its a Great shot of downtown

  • Whooo, so glad you used Canned Heat for a video. Great work!

  • @rickhh1 Thanks, it's a great tune!

  • Nice video, Jim. Cool tour. Like the way you've integrated the shields into the exits and all, if that makes sense.

  • @Bryant5493 Thanks Bryant, I know what you mean :)

  • @Freewayjim

Okay, good, good. *In my best evil fly voice from "Family Guy" (lol).

  • @Bryant5493 ha, love that character :)

  • @Freewayjim

Yeah, it's a cool character. Random how he appears, along with the Kool-Aid guy. "Oh, yeah." :-)

  • Again, another great video as well as song selection. I love your use of highway route marker graphics as well. Wishing, just wishing, and hoping you'd do a West Coast series utilizing the HD and the route marker graphics; in particular, the San Francisco Bay area. Or when the East End of the SF-Oakland Bridge (as in the new Warriors logo) is finished. Also, a Seattle or Portland series would be nice.

  • @lakebay972 Thanks, I'd love to go out west too but that's a tall order, not this year anyway.

  • I don't think I've ever seen a lane end on the LEFT before.. Seems kind of dangerous to me as the faster moving cars are forced to merge with slower ones in about 20ft or so.. I'd be curious to know how many close calls have happened on that stretch at the end..

  • @integgy95: The Left Lane Ends is found a few times in Upstate NY. Interstate 87's third lane ends north of Exit 22 in Lake George, and it's a left lane ends, merge right. Interstate 90's third lane ends east of Exit 11 near Albany, another right lane merge. And NY Route 7 has a left lane ends/merge right after the Route 9 exit.

  • Napoleon Dynamite!! Lol thumbs up as always are you gonna do NC at all?

  • @2004JETTA Sorry, no NC videos this trip.

  • Nice work as always, JIm. 5 Thumbs Up...

  • I've seen your 480p videos from around Charleston, but to see it all again in HD is a huge upgrade. The freeways around Columbia seem pretty busy for a city (and metro region) of its size. Perhaps you filmed this on Friday, during the July 4th holiday getaway period?

  • @FreewayBrent On the credits, it says "June 25, 2010". It's the upload date that's tricking you. He had other videos that day made before this.

  • @FreewayAndrew -You are correct sir :)

  • @FreewayBrent -It was the Friday before that Brent and I hit Columbia around 3:30-4 PM so rush hour was starting. The upcoming Charleston videos will not disappoint ;)

  • @Freewayjim: lol, I meant Columbia (in the first sentence). Whoops.

  • @FreewayBrent Thanks, OK...one more Columbia video to come.

  • Does everyone realize that this is the music John Heder dances to during the election presentation at the end of "Napoleon Dynamite"? I agree, it is a great driving song, but I still can't get the image out of my head of Napoleon dancing on that stage!

  • @wriddle082 -Luckily I never saw the image you speak of :)

  • Awesome video and of course...awesome music as well! Jamiroquai makes some really great music, especially when you use those songs in urban videos. Also, I have about 25 more trips planned this summer, and my only large city trips planned are in Cleveland and Indianapolis. So, do you have any more urban video suggestions?

  • @FreewayAndrew Cleveland is neat, you can get some neat footage there but Indy is borrrrring.

  • @Freewayjim Yeah, but I have to finish Indy with I-65 North. I also plan to film Fort Wayne on Sunday. I'm running out of ideas for more future trips. Do you have any ideas?

  • @FreewayAndrew -Not unless you are willing to go far. It's not your fault but you live in a boring part of the country with regards to highways :(

  • @Freewayjim How far are you talking about and what places would I film that would be interesting?

  • @FreewayAndrew -I can't make that call, my only point is that there isn't much interesting in Ohio (Other than Cleveland or Cincy) or any part of Indiana, look at a map, it will all make sense. The Mid-west is just flat and boring for the most part, as is much of the Southeast, that's just the way it is.

  • @Freewayjim What's your opinion about Columbus, where I filmed 2 weeks ago? Indiana is just....rural. Points west of there are VERY boring. I just planned a couple trips in Cincy on OH-562 and OH-126, since you didn't film them. The Southeast is full of hills and mountains, which makes it way more interesting than the Midwest. The Northeast has a lot of interstates, with a lot of traffic, but some interesting places in that area.

  • @FreewayAndrew Columbus is not that interesting, it's better than Indy though. Cincy is great! The southeast (south of I-20) is flat & boring except for some of the cities and cable stayed bridges.

West Virginia has a lot of interesting scenery IMO as does parts of Kentucky.

  • @Freewayjim Kentucky was kind of interesting when I filmed there last Sunday, with the white gates at farms. I was suprised to see a couple patches of corn at a few points. I've been to West Virginia only twice, and I kinda planned to film I-64 in Charleston, maybe as well as I-77 North to I-79. It has some pretty mountain scenery in Charleston.

  • Nice video. The Columbia area grows pretty fast, I wonder how long the freeway system is able to cope with the growing traffic volumes.

  • @VaFreeways Ahh, it's been sitting in the "Private" box for a few days, I have three in there now on queue. I think SC's roads in general are very good, I-95 could use an upgrade as does some parts of I-26 but overall I think the Interstate grid makes sense and the roads are generally in great shape.

  • @Freewayjim Speaking of I-95, have you heard that VDOT wants to put I-95 tolls the VA/NC border? NCDOT wants to do the same thing as well. Looks like I-85 will see a lot more traffic as a result. I can't speak for NC but in Va's case, a simple 2 cent increase in the gas tax would negate the need for tolls. But our new governor won't consider it because he campaigned on not raising taxes. Sorry, but you can't run the 3rd largest road network in the US in the year 2010 on 1986 funding levels.

  • @VaFreeways Yes I've heard about that, actually NC wants to toll the whole length, not just at the border. I don't like the idea of raising taxes in general but a 2 cent increase isn't too bad.

  • Crepe Myrtle trees are gorgeous in the South - have to admit, I've sung this wrong for years as "God can be in my heels tonight" and this Jamiroquai cd is a high roller in my car cd player! Canned Heat????!!! Excellent drive FWJ - many thanks - peace ;.)

  • @0marigolds -Thank you! I love driving to this song too, it just makes you feel good! great minds think alike :)
