In europe they tried to impose on all regional languages in the same way but they did not succeed. in spain they speak 4 languages despite franco; in france there is breton, corse, basque etc they all managed to preserve against all odds.

Andrew, I understand your pain brother....I went to an Indian Boarding school on my reservation as well....I was sent to Dilcon Boarding School where if we spoke Navajo our mouths were washed out with soap and we were whipped for trying to be Navajo.....nowadays it's a struggle to relearn my language.......
