@zebi269 It gives your computer a speed boost. It isn't really needed for a casual user, but I use a lot of software at one time and it comes in handy to stop my system from being bogged down.
This has no effect on the warranty. Upgrading the ram is a standard upgrade and will not void your warranty. I called Apple on this to confirm before I purchased my MacBook because I knew I would want to upgrade. FYI, the hard drive is also user replaceable and will not void your warranty.
nice vid man thank you. I have 2 questions: why there's so high difference in price between apple ram and tird party ram? (i'm talking about twice the price for the apple one!!)
and second:
Did u "feel" a big difference in the macbook performance when you upgrade to 4 giga from 2 giga? the computer take less time to do what? is a "sensible" difference? I'm asking beacuse i'm thinking to upgrade my macbook ram.
The apple ram is so expensive because it is apple branded and guaranteed to work. 3rd party ram doesn't always come with that guarantee but if you buy a quality brand you should not have a problem. Essentially, you are paying for the name with the ram. As for performance I have noticed that my macbook is a little quicker. My iMovie export times have dropped a few minutes and I can have more windows and programs open without it slowing down as much. More ram can only help in my opinion.
no upgrading any components in your mac will not void your warrenty but components u put in that were not bought form apple will not be covered under your warrenty.but it isnt a big deal, just keep the apple components after the upgrade and if anything goes wrong swap them back to see if that fixes the problem and if not just bring it in to apple
Nice vid dude, but i noticed that you didnt have an anti-static wrist strap on do you need one when working on a mac ?,nor did you show the speed of you mac with the new ram installed ????
An anti-static wrist strap is a good idea but if you know how to ground yourself and work without one you will be fine. It was just an install and an update vid will come later.
Thank you for getting back to me on this subject jeff, sorry for jumping the gun, should have expected an update, cos after all you do have to make sure everything is ok dont ya first, lol.
Why would you need to up the ram on a macbook.

@BrickSh0t7 I know what RAM is. But an upgrade to a macbook isnt needed unless it dies or fails, which it shouldnt

i have the same macbook ;)
could u not just add 2 gbs of ram to the 2gb allready in there o do you have to bay a whole new 4gb chip?
MrNando5556 2 years ago
@MrNando5556 The 2GB were in the form of two 1GB chips. The MacBook I have only allows for two ram chips - that is why I used two 2GB chips.

is this the same method as the new white macbook unibody? :) great vid.

Hi jeff,
quick question here.. when upgrading the RAM you have to unscrew the whole bottom part of the Mac right?
Does this have any effect on the warranty? (for opening up the mac, or etc)
please, i need to know..thanks awesome vid dude :)
