The writer for the cutscenes was only brought in after the game was already complete. So the story had to fit around all the races which were already set. There's an interview with him on the On The Page podcast (ep 63, Nov 2008)

nanrodmada: I think they changed the General Lee simply because they didnt get licence to use the Dodge Charger brand, if you notice they never mention "Dodge" or "Charger" in the game, and the actors well they were probably too expensive to use for Southpeak Interactive, when you play the game you can clearly see the game is made on a tight budget.

hey- crackhead, i only asked why it's animated, i didn't know whether it was a game, an episode (btw, what platform if it's a game) or the buttugly martians disguised as the duke boys, uncle jesse and daisy. i don't think i asked/said anything worthy of a derogatory remark, but show me one reason and i'll shut my mouth and not speak of this again. otherwise please shut your own piehole and respect my simple curiosity and the fact that i didn't know these were cutscenes from a game.
