  • I just turned off my radio to listen to this song...

  • I'm selling Bill Clifton's 1967 D35 Martin on ebay. Item number 290573011117. He recorded all his LPs using this guitar - any fans please have a look!

  • @SpooksHill Found the words, but got bronchitis, may be just about ready to try to record. My one Jordanaire is being evicted, so may have to do without him. As of now, can't get the recording software to work right with my new computer. will work on that later tonight.

  • @BionicBrain2 I still mean to cover this, but my backup singer keeps weaseling out of doing it. My wife hates this song, and hates hearing me practice it, but if I don't I'll bungle the words. I also want to cover "I'll be There Mary Dear," another of his songs, but am having trouble finding the lyrics. The lyrics are garbled on the recording I have, and it's a nice song--too nice to do a sloppy job of it. a sad song to match the sadness in my soul.

  • @musicmandon1 did you find the lyrics? i could help you out

  • At first I thought this said Bill Clinton. LOL

  • Bill Clifton isn't as well known as he should be. This is a masterful version of a song I heard on Prairie Home Companion in the '80s. When I cover this, (when I can find at least one Jordaneer to back me up,) I mean to use these verses, since every version of this seems to have different words.

  • @musicmandon1 I'm 65 years old and have been a fan of Bill Clifton since I was a teenager. I have just about every song he ever recorded. I've never met him in person, but I know he still performs around the country occasionally. Still listen to his music just about every day.

  • Who are the band members ?

  • So glad to see some great videos of my all time favorite singer, the great Bill Clifton.

  • @BionicBrain2 Hi! you seem to be a fan of Bill Clifton's... I'm writing from France.

I used to be an "au pair boy(!)" at his place in Sussex, England in 1974. I keep such good memories of that time.... I would like to get in touch with him and am happy to realise he was still singing a few years ago. Do you know anything about him now?

    Thanks for your help.

    Gilles NICOLET, Vannes- Brittany

  • This is a very high quality video and a great document from this period ! And quite moving to see Andrew Townend, who was a great mandolin player...
