I follow all the instructions and my cables look NOTHING like this. I have huge holes in my pattern and they look incredibly sloppy. Any suggestions?

hi there i have been waiting for ages to find a cable pattern for the looms, i do have a couple of questions though
the point where you start the video can you do the from the very first row?
how many sts so you need inbetween each cable if you are doing more than one in your project?
and what do you do when you go back from left to right?
