Personaly, I don't see what the big deal about wild animals as pets is about. If zoos can have them, why can't private owners? I've seen clips of pet tigers and lions and various other species as pets and they seem a thousand times happier than ones in zoos.

@PinkPunkyKat that's because few humans have the resources and money available to provide care for exotic and rare animals. Even then, not many are very good at it. Besides, the law is there to prevent poaching of wildlife for the exotic animal black market. And "happiness" is a relative term, especially for animals.
