  • I have a video on my channel, showing how to apply gradients to text items, without converting them to outlines.

  • There is a way of adding gradients to text without outlining it, using the appearance panel. Remove the fill in the panel, and replace it with a gradient, instead of applying a gradient with the gradient tool or the swatches panel. Courtesy of vectips . com

    .

I want to make square & rectangle selections as per my custom X & Y point sizes/values...

  • thanks buddy!! great tutorial

  • BIG HELP! Good video!

  • Perfect tutorial. Thank you so much... Us noobs need step by step.

How do you create a colored stroke to outline your gradient text? Example if I want to use a white outline instead of a black one? Thanks again for the great video.

  • @Lightiel1 for a white outline just change the stroke color from black to white using the fill/stroke (the bottom two squares on your tools palette)

  • Really good tutorial thanks buddy

  • i swear you said! "the text is no longer edible, nomnomnomnom- oh no"

  • There are better ways to do those effects..

First effect: do "double stroke" then offset the second one from Effects> Path> Offset Path. It's better 'cause it's easy to modify.

Second one: Select the text > from the Appearance panel click the menu and Add Fill > change that fill to the desired gradient... This is better 'cause the text remains editable..

    Thanks....

  • I didnt get the copy and paste. Are you copying the whole TEXT, or just the stroke (if that's possible)? When I do this I get another TEXT popping up elsewhere, and then I cant finished the tutorial

  • Yes, I have the same problem as you... or am I just simple a beginner? :)

  • @barlowcj : You have to Paste in back, not just paste. When you paste it just makes a copy. You want to paste the copy behind the original text.

  • Thanks so much! This is really easy to follow

  • Excellent!!

    So simple!

  • Thank U for this. I couldnt figure out why i couldnt make gradients on text.
