Hi Buck, just touring around your music (as usual, lol) and just REALLY noticed how good you are on that guitar. Have played your solo picking part over and over and cant get enough of it. I am truly grateful to you for putting up your videos for our enjoyment
@bucknorrismusic Well I think you are great, I tried to learn that style when MUCH younger, but lost my index finger in an accident and had to switch to keyboard, but never got good at that either.
You are GREAT
Love listening in on your music, would love to hear a few more older country songs though
Hell Yeah!!!! That was great buck, ur solo was super. Lookin at ur older songs. I can tell ya, Im very happy right now. Did u ever play the other version u mentioned here?
Thanks once again for some damn fine music Buck. I hope you dont mind my constantly commenting on your videos, but lately when I come home from a long hard day in the mines (so to speak), I grab a beer and sit back at my comp and search out something by you to unwind to.
Take a listen to Death Cab for Cutie's "Someday you will be loved." Do you think they stole the melody of this song? I would love to know what you think!
Never heard of them but then not quite my "Genre" LOL. I did give a listen and there are some similarities but some real differences. When you think there are 8 main notes in a scale, there are a lot of songs that sound similiar.
Thanks very much you know I don't remember any of their other songs but this one made a BIG influence on my love of guitar when I was young. Thanks again.
Thanks so much do appreciate that. I started playing when I was 14 and am now 58 next week. LOL I think I learned this one when I was 15 and have always played it. I have had periods of years where I never touched the guitar but I have been back having fun now for about 6 years.
Hey great version, I loved it! I haven't heard Amazing Grace in the end of song before. Did you come up with it? Anyway it fits in nicely and gives the song a happier ending. Keep up the good work and greetins from Finland!
Thanks so much do appreciate it. I have being it like that since High School which is 40 years ago. I can't remember if I heard it that way once or just came up with the idea. I think a church group I was playing with at the time came up with it. Your right it does fit and does leave it more positive.
I have an electric Vorson VLP-350 (standard les Paul shape). I'm quite pleased the way it sounds but if you have any suggestions about what set of strings might be best to use and what better pickups should I try, please let me know. Thanks again!!!
Not familiar with that guitar so I don't know. I always use Elixar strings for everything. They are more expensive but do not rust and stay sounding great about 10 times longer than regular strings.
Well you confirmed exactly what some of my friends assured me. So what if they're more expensive than other types, if you need better sound and resistance. Thank you much once again for your help!!
great stuff Buck! always loved this version from Dave van Ronk to Bob Dylan to the Animals and beyond! apparently Woody Guthrie was one of the first to commercially popularize this song (though that's only what I've read)
An excellent rendition Buck! I loved the 'Amazing Grace' at the end... amazing how it fits perfectly with this song. Great performance, I enjoyed it very much... FrAnK (5***** & 'fave')
Round my neck of the woods,we folks up here know this a a classic folk song made famous by Leadbelly. You've taken this chestnut and have brought it to an all-new level of musical bliss, while still maintaining the integrity and essence of the original composition. I particularly enjoyed how you incorporated "Amazin' Grace" into "The House of the Rising Sun".
What a good version dear !
