I just bought a Strom, and before seeing this video, I wasn't sure how it will handle the dirt. Now I'm looking forward to installing the guards and getting it dirty! Thanks for posting the video!
Great video. I have a KLR650 to play in the mud with but I'm considering a Strom for touring. Good to see that the Strom can still hold its own on fire roads.
I had both bikes at the same time and light offroad is easier on Suzuki (mostly due to fact that it is easier to pick it up when it falls down and seems significantly lighter) but Beemer has better suspension and balance...
On the road they are equal, beemer has more power, street cred, passanger and driver space, but suzuki is more stable at speed and offers better wind protection (with standard screens). As a result i got rid of beemer and kept suzuki which was much easier machine to commute.
The guy on the Beemer is a Pu@#y!!!! I can take mud worse than that with my feet on the pegs on honda cm400 and I only have about 3000 miles of total motorcycle experiance....
@petrosspetrosgali Haha yes, well, mud is an interesting one. To a certain extent it is psychological, half of the new riders who encounter mud will take it on and the other half wont like it. Of the half that were not apprehensive, half of those will learn to hate it and the other half will refuse to be put off. So in the end of the day, only about 1 in 4 riders have the 'guts' to plow through mud or sand but that does not mean they wont have the occasional off, just that they accept it.
Hey, you guys ride all the same trails as me. I have a blue 1000 Vstrom and ride those same places. Between the Strom and my dual sport XR600R, I can cover just about any terrain. Stop and say hi if you see me trapped under my bike sometime.
What a nonsens. The weight is 10kg different - and the BMW has 30hp more, a totally other handling in all terrain - even full loaded. Doubled price? Yes, but only when you SELL them - used - then this is the difference what you receive!
aaah man i'm buying a v strom to do sombody knows good stuff to upgrade the bike ??

I would have liked the video without the music, it's not my style and I found it annoying because of it.

Why dont you compare with a 650 bmw?
dryweight suzuki: 197kg, bmw 1200gs: 201kg
ab7470 2 years ago
Because I don't have a friend who rides a 650GS. I don't even have a friend who rides a V-Strom anymore. His wife made him sell it.

I had BMW GS 1200 ADV that bike is too expensive, too hard and powerless. I drive it for 2 years and 28.000km...
Now I have KTM 990 adv, and KTM is much better bike!
