I met Donna Loren tonight! She's a blond now so I didn't recognize her at first. She is still so beautiful with a gorgeous, slim figure. She sang this very song and made the joke, "We should have had wieners and Dr. Pepper but I'd probably burn 'em anyway!"
so wonderful to ssee a clip of a show that does not have jungle mentalty. All white no every other word blank blank blank no blace whinning about hot the white,s have been mean to him. And ladies who dress and act like ladies and gentleman who act like gentleman. What a pity and shame we can never go back to that again. And no shooting up people nor destorying thing,,s. I grew up in the 60,s 70,s 80.s before tv went to bongle from the jungle menntalty. As well as scicoty
Love this song, went to buy a digital copy of it and can not find one. All I could find is the new version that Donna put out in 2009. Does Anyone know where you can get this version?
@rcowgirl It's available ONLY on the "Summer Beach Party" compilation CD with two other DL previously unreleased movie songs, "Love's a Secret Weapon" and the "Muscle Bustle" duet with Dick Dale. You can get an autographed copy at Donna Loren's website.
I am a baby boomer & grew up dreaming of "Annette" from Mickey Mouse Club later to appear in William Asher's beach movies with Frankie Avalon. It was a great time to a certain extent - we all dressed nice to go out, A few years later, America was in a turmoil with Vietnam, drugs, hippies, ... Each era has its own charms & own tragedies. On the other hand, nothing prevents you from dressing nicely, you also have your own "natural beauty", Good luck,
The most gorgeous song from "Beach Blanket Bingo" -- lovely girl, and wasn't she a grand regular on "Shindig"? I've always loved her version of "It's Alright" on that show. Lovely voice with that bizarre staging -- something straight out of a David Lynch film!
This is a great song, great singing job, gorgeous woman. Not only is it a tragedy it never became a hit... this version was never actually released on any record at all, was only made for the movie and then slugged in awkwardly. Donna's album version is a fast remake, and the version dated 2009 is obviously completely different. So the ONLY WAY EVER to hear this song is from the movie... strange but true, and sad in a way...
@MrSluggo666 It's supposed to be a comedy dude. That means funny and the song is something like that. It's trying to be indicative of the problems of being a 30 year old teenager with serious relationship problems.
Donna Loren should have had hits on the radio. She never got to the top spot and was just as good if not better than her peers at the time. I love this song.
Nice song and Donna looks great - but what's with the hot dogs ???? Was the director of the movie like , "Here honey sit down and sing your song and while you're at, make me lunch."
I just happened to come across this. I remember watching Beach Blanket Bingo many times growing up, and I wish they still showed it on regular tv. I even remember some of the words. For me "It only hurts when I cry" and when I think of how quickly the years have gone by. Thanks for a nice memory.
@doglips1958 ''I TOTALLY AGREE. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR HIT IN 65! NOT SURE WHY DONNA LOREN DIDNT GET THE PUSH SHE DESERVED. SHE WAS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL AND A TALENTED SINGER. OH WELL, SHES BEEN IMMORTALIZED IN THIS MOVIE. BETTER THAN TO NOT BE REMEMBERED AT ALL, YOU KNOW?
The guy on the guitar ("Ok ready?" "Go, Donna!") is Ned Wynn, son of actor Keenan Wynn (who was in Bikini Beach). He wrote an autobiographical book titled: "We Will Always Live In Beverly Hills" (published somewhere around 1990-92). He writes about his drug and alcohol abuse, what its like to be Keenan Wynn's son, growing up in show business, etc.

The girl he is kissing is Donna Michelle, Playmate of the Year 1964. I wonder how much he had to pay to get that shot included?
