  • She is Jewish ,speaking in French

  • What language is tje woman speakimg? Sounds french or spanish to me

  • wow so much racism and ignorance below...

religion does not care about race.

  • @cherokeediamond It is scary isn't it! Yet many will say that only whites can be racist.

  • Voodoo is still very much practiced by whites, blacks, and other races. I was raised in and around New Orleans and it doesn't matter your color. We accept each other for looking in your heart if you are not racist then you are not treated that way. How about seeing each other as people and don't worry about the outside covering for it can be altered. As for Voodoo you have people of all types who practice and just do not let it be known. trust me..

  • its not the white race....its the use of colour white, they would have used this ritual in haiti ,which was a stop over for the spanish slave traders from africa to america this ritual would have dated back to africa ......voodoo is some powerful shit i wouldnt mess with it.......

  • "We have to get over it" is the most brainwashed B/S excuse I've ever heard for not holdin someone accountable. How do you get over something that's STILL GOING ON TODAY??? This sh** ain't just happen 400 years ago, it's still goin' on RIGHT NOW! We've been lettn sh** go long enough, no more, No matter how many brown faces you put in the White House, REVOLUTION is coming.

  • Funny how anything with black roots is suddenly "for everyone", whites try that same bullshit with hip hop. Please.

  • Cracka please.

  • How does one go about being initiated into this religion? Are white converts frowned upon? I'm white, a little Native American too, and a Witch. Wouldn't want to cause offense. But Vodou overall seems very beautiful. Peace to all, whatever your race or religion.

  • who taught that lady that stufff. wrong..!

  • @BigBoileger what do you mean

Is she doing something wrong or so you think that the whole concept is wrong

  • @NoTitleNeeded doing something wrong.. just taking Haitian culture and not doing it how it should be done is wrong.. any more glad to reply

  • @BigBoileger oh ok

  • @BigBoileger Voodoo is not only practice in Haiti and is originally from west Africa (Dahomey). If you go there and see the way they practice it, is different than the way they do it in Haiti, same is true for Cuba, Dominican Republic, Brazil and New Orleans.

The practice might be different, but the most important thing to keep in mind is the tradition and the person's soul when communicating with the different spirits either directly or through a voodoo priest/priestess.

  • @md991free You Don't have to be a Priest or Priestess to call upon spirits. Its Practice Different all over i know but if you know how the spirits came together and be able to 'dance'' under one '' temple''. Every has voudou but to see white's doing it from history to now.. think bout it its funny

  • @BigBoileger If you read my comment I said some people are able to speak to the spirits directly, others, need the help of a priest/priestess.

Any human can acquire the abilities to communicate with the spirits with teaching, devotion and patience.

  • @md991free Yes sir.. Me and You got This Down lol

  • @BigBoileger I have a good day my fellow human :)

  • People Wake up! Something is wrong here-This is not of God. God is not the spirit of fear, but happiness and pure love. These rituals don't even make sense. You have something controlling your life. You're cheating yourself out of life with this religion. God's son Jesus died on the cross for your sins. God made you from the earth and knows everything about you. It's not worth burning in hell for eternity. God is the way, the truth and eternal life. Make the choice today. It's not worth it!

  • @Lovelyb4u2 Get a life Lovely4u2

  • Comment removed

  • @Lovelyb4u2 It is everyone's right to practice the religion of their choosing. You don't see Vodou practitioners, Wiccans, Santeros and Druids trying to convert Christians. Live and let live. Speaking personally, I feel free now that I'm not Christian anymore. I was tired of the corruption and self-righteousness I saw in so much of Christianity. Clean your house before insisting people move in with you...

  • @Lovelyb4u2 How can you possibly have all the answers? what makes christianity any more correct than voodoo or any other form of religion or religious practice?

and on a different not, if god exists (which he very well might, I dont know) why would he put us hear never actually tell us anything and then send our soul to "burn in hell for eternity?" if thats the way it works that is really cruel.

  • @Lovelyb4u2 What do you mean this ritual makes no sense? You know NOTHING about them and then claim they make no sense. Jackass...

  • WTF!!!!!!!!!!! THIS INSULT TO OUR PEOPLE.....THEY HAVE THEIR JESUS...AMAZING 100 YEARS FROM THEY WILL BE CLAIMING VOODO WAS THEIR IDEA....

  • @AFRICA4AFRICANS

that is if they don't become extinct.

anyway, i have noticed that whenever people of color does something it is considered wrong but as soon as a white person does it , it is considered acceptable , exotic and interesting. *sigh*

  • @BabyGirlGoddess MOST IMPORTANT IS WHEN THEY PULL THAT BULLSHIT TELLING US WHAT WE DO NATURAL IS NO GOOD...WE MUST HAVE THE UNDERSTAND THAT THE WHITE MAN HAS NO UNDERSTAND OF WHAT IS NATURAL....

  • I met Sallie

  • Why is everyone moaning about race?? wasn't MArie Lavaue herself nott mixed race and a Women of "freecolour" ??? now im lost i would like to know more and what are peoples views on Inidan and Asian practioners of this religion. please give me feed back as im neither black or white???

  • Everyone, this is New Orleans Voodoo not Haitian Voodou, so please everyone calm down. They are completely distinct. That's why most of them are white. It's hard to get into the history of New Orleans Voodoo because so many people want the myth rather than the truth. I'll just leave it at that.

  • @TheStarfkr You are absolutely right! Thanks for your comment.

  • I'm white.

I was told by a black mambo that I know rather well that: "Vodou is a religion for everyone, but not everyone is for Vodou". In other words, you DON'T choose Vodou. The L'wa choose you. Race is not even a concern and those bullshitting on about it here are clearly racist themselves.

Secondly, New Orleans Voodoo and Haitian Vodou are two very different things. Learn the difference.

  • This is freaking shamgeful. We actually allowed a "jewish/ukranian from Indiana" woman to become the representation of voodoo to creoles??? When will we stop embarrassing ourselves?? Great god, have some dignity!

  • @MeAndHubbyToo

The L'wa choose you, not the other way around.

No one is 'allowed' to come to Vodou.

You are called to it. I've been told that by black mambo's and hougoun's since the day I started exploring this faith. The shitload of racism I encounter is the very thing that keeps me away. Well done for furthering that.

  • I wonder if the real Sallie Glassman had to deal with people not believing in her voodoo due to her race. So interesting.

  • I WOULD TORTURE THIS LITTLE WANNABE WHITE VOODOO WITCH N SHOW HER WHAT THE FUK IS EVIL SPIRITS ... I WATCH THIS LITTLE DUMB FRENCH BITCH AND FEEL LIKE SKINNING HER AND EATING HER RAW MEAT

  • THIS IS FRAUD!!!!! WHO IS "MOMOJITO" ?????...trickster, fake, charlatain do not desecrate what is not yours!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @BabyGirlGoddess My dear Sister:Please do your research there are many AUTHENTIC practitioners on Facebook, Yahoo. Who are networking. Buy books...it takes ground work if you are not born into it ...take your time and know this crap right here aint the REAL thing....Good luck on your journey

  • Somebody tell that "mambo(?)" to cover he head.

  • @bilolo9 ...and her BOOBS!

  • Any religion knows no race. That being said, if one practices a religion, and becomes proficient, that deems you a "practitioner". One who studies bible can become Priests, or Pastors. The lady knew what she was doing. She drew a Veve (symbol of a Voodoo LWA)((In this case it looks like Baron Samedi)) on the floor with salt. She used liquor, (usually rum) to wet the salt. The mix amplifies the wishes of the worshipers who dance upon it.

  • Its the Voodoo Loas who determines who shall be a disciple or not.

  • dont understand what is racist about this? so if whites should never practice voodoo than should blacks never ever practice chistianity?

  • bullshit

  • Glassman is a Jewish name ..so voodoo would be a small part of her practice having deeper magic and mysticism available to them.

  • these whites r fucken funny.

  • Yall do know that Marie Laveau, famous Voodoo Queen of New Orleans, was part white?

  • where are the black people? creole? hispanic?

    what the hell is this?

    fake voodoo priestess.

she only fools white people because they are so damn gullible.

  • hey, if any of you are interested in seeing more vodou ceremonies i suggest checking out "dereale". she has alot of good & interesting videos on her channel.

  • ooohh...now i get it

Vodou is often used to describe Haitian voodoo & Voodoo is often used to describe New Orleans voodoo.

What is the difference between the two?

  • @BabyGirlGoddess New Orleans Voodoo has somewhat of a more focus on gris-gris and magick. Hatian Voodoo is focused more on the religous side. If I get this incorrect please tell me.

  • @BabyGirlGoddess maybe you got it,but not really.there is no difference between the vodoos the way you understand it!the spelling changes because of the language factor."ou" in french is pronounced as "oo" in english as a result, haitians who speak french call and write it "vodou".in new orleans where they speak english it is spelled "vodoo".apparently there is no difference for they all came africa.what differs is new practices that were incorporated once the religion came to america.

  • Meyow, Meyow...

  • white people stealing our culture again then turning around calling us savages when we do our own culture! what non sense!

  • African regions and Catholicism did not mix and created voodoo WTF. Catholicism and Voodoo itself mix in New Orleans and Haiti.

  • wicked somepowerful spells being cast here it would seem.

  • @westonward78

first of all dslater417 is right and you're wrong. i have seen white people did voodoo. I seem them in miami. Voodoo does not have a color .

  • @westonward78 your crackers and probably a racist =P

  • African has a huge role in Voodoo, however it isn't the only role.

Black people are without a doubt the majority of people who practice Voodoo, however many white people and natives do it as well.

Never assume because it makes an ASS out of U and ME! get it? :)

  • Oh silly me, my professors were completely wrong. I guess I enrolled in a school in which no one knows what there talking about.

I didn't know Haiti and New Orleans were in Africa, my apologies.

    You are so smart.

  • @Dslater417 Voodoo came from West African Vodun, largely Dahomey mythology and Yoruba mythology Vodun means spirit in Fon, there form of voodoo that exist without Catholicism so how can Catholicism play a role in creating voodoo? Slaves brought the religions to the Americas. in the Americas slaves used Catholicism to disguise the Pantheon of African regions it not essential, in West Africa it exist purely with out it.

  • You might not want to hear the "bs" that "im takin" but it is true.

I'm a Anthropology major and minor in religion at the University of New Orleans, I know what I'm talking about.

Catholicism plays a very important role in Voodoo. And Catholicism originated from Europe.

Three cultures, european, African, and Native American all helped to create Voodoo.

By the way, Voodoo is a religion, not a culture. Get it right

  • @Dslater417

This is very late but i feel i should set you straight. voodoo/vodun was around long before catholicism even though of existing. secondly it is not important in the least in our art/craft/religion we only used it as a cover. thirdly What you learn in school matters not because like so many things in the america it lies about everything. most of these people do not even know what creole is or that we are people of LA. we have to undo what schools have taught because they are wrong.

  • New Orleans Voodoo and Haitian Voodoo are completely different.

Not only is Voodoo a mix of African beliefs, but it is also a mic of European based Catholicism.

Religion doesn't have a color, religion is accepting.

  • You're wrong and right. You are wrong about Haitian Voodoo and New Orleans Voodoo being different. Maybe some of the rituals and practices may have changed over time, but it was the Haitians that brought it here(New Orleans) during the slave trade. If you pay attention to it, Our accents are partially Haitian. But you are right about it partially being dervived from catholicism. But before catholics adopted it, it was the pagans, but initially it was first used in ancient babylon.

  • don't you get tired of white people taking credit for other peoples culture? ... this is a African culture that so much back in the 1800s the European white people claimed to be evil cause of the black slaves practiced there cult, but white people try to take interest and practice the vodou now it's pure and good? i don't get it~ smh ... i see now like i said this is all about business

  • history speaks for itself why the vodou culture should of been in secrecy... but i guess alot of people that practice the religion allows money to dictate who should be part of this religion.

  • I am creole an have no ill will towards any race on the count of i am mixed with them, but i believe honesty is important.

there are things that whites start doing that was already in effect by blacks but eventually everyone starts saying whites started it, that is true.

Saying whites have no soul is a ancient beliefe that some people stil hold on to but in holding on to it would disprove vodou because we believe everything has a Loa (spirit).

The past hurts i know..but we have to let go mes ami

  • @Darkmessenger1000 I wanted to tell you that the past hurts white people, too. It is sometimes ashaming to know that you come from people who created and still create such misery in the world. but we can only raise our children in the belief that we're all god's creatures and it's wonderful that we are different but all the same. take the hand of your sister and brother no matter what color they are...

  • @anouck86

Oh yes i know it does and i am not saying all or even any of white people are evil (yes i know there are some like in others). And i show the same love to a white as i do a black unless they get on my bad side. The only thing in which i caution against is how white people steal culture. And i am not saying all but the end result is whatever was created by others they take cred for. I could give examples but i dont think it necessary. If taught correctly though this is not a problem.

  • @anouck86 as you can see from what Dslater417 wrote he tries to give a looot of cred to white people for what she/he thinks it did. This is what i speak of. catholicsm has nothing to do with the workings of this at all it never has. But people like him is how we lose what we created and the cred for it goes else where. Truly i have no ill will towards anyone and wish everyone good but there are things that must be spoken out against.

  • This video is ridiculous.

  • excuse me..who is the lwa that the person is evoking in the ritual? Is Baron Samedi? Baron Lacroix? Marassa Dosou? Do you know?

  • i really dont understand the point in showing the stele of revealing before this ritual starts.

  • ghey

  • Please love all humans in the future, ok

    thanks

  • "There's only one racist that's whites." >> This is racist.

  • How is this racist?

  • Because there are racist people in every ethnic group. Whites don't have the monopoly :)

  • Oh. I thought you were calling the video racist.

  • They're whites living in NEW ORLEANS. Wow. Quite the racist. And don't go calling white people racist. You are the racist one in this situation. Look at YOUR history.

  • Oh wow, look at you segregating races. What makes you feel so entitled? You are the one saying that Black and White people should not be treated as equals. Look at you pointing fingers, how BOLD you are!

    Racism |ˈrāˌsizəm|

    noun

the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, esp. so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.

Take a good look at yourself nect time you want to point out who's racist.

  • Feel for you, hetheru. You are so damaged. Maybe with good reason...I do not know your past history. But you are damaged, just the same.

  • Well one thing I know for sure ; is that I was right about the racist part. But you have to remember Voodoo was just not practised by slaves it was also practised by free persons of COLOR!

  • Voodoo has nothing to do with the history of slavery.Thats just a racist comment.

  • Voodoo in the new world has nothing to do with slavery? That's really a stupid thing to say, it has EVERYTHING to do with slavery. Voodoo/Santeria rituals and symbolism are essentially an amalgamation of Catholic and African spiritual beliefs by slaves abducted from Africa. Voodoo did not evolve IN SPITE of slavery but BECAUSE of slavery, as the slaves had to incorporate Catholic elements to camouflage their animistic beliefs and practices. Voodoo is the unique product of slaves in the new world

  • i am white and living in africa i am an african, everybody suffered at one stage and some slaves were treated like animals but not all white is bad and not all white did this, i was raped by a black adult man when i was 10 and i do not hate all black men for that, in fact my neighbour is a black man and i know whenever their is trouble at my house i know i can just scream and he will come and help me. ignore them they are new world junkies, they will not understand.

  • @niekie4sure

7 months ago oui cher but you have to be corrected.

living in africa does not make you african, the same as living in europe does not make you european.

    @ everyone else

vodou did start in africa mes amis it is nothing new. there was things changed about it here and there but inn truth it was only hiding what was actually being taught.

most white people here tend to be cajun and actually had nothing to do with slavery. And we (creoles) consider them cousins.

    les meilluer vouex

  • all colours and flavours were opressed and tortured in one or other stage in the live of the world.

  • True, Niekie, but it was only ONE oppressed flavour responsible for Voodoo, and it WASN'T vanilla. A white person can't grab a snake, shake the ason and know what Voodoo is all about. You need the unique mindset and circumstances of the slave. That's Voodoo.

  • Voodoo was born long before blacks where brought over here by whites... Ray, don't get so ethnocentric in your views, otherwise you can't learn to trace the magic(k) and where it comes from, the truth is Haiti is only it's new face, Voodoo is based off the 9 african powers, as in the land it was born, and if you know magic(k) then you know that the soul is adaptable to any of the messages under the guidance of a teacher, DNA only brings you closer to the doorstep but doesn't give you the door.

  • 'helps'? it is a spiritual rite, so it doesn't matter what you think it looks like. it is only the experience of the devotee and the interaction with the core enlivening power (the lwa, as they'd call it in this case) that's important here. it's not a tv show, it's a real rite. these folks are trying to do it for real, i respect them for it.

  • The Gods are NOT racist, only humans are.

  • darling-what's that???? Magic is or everyone and it doesn't matter his or her colour of skin or heritage. We are all children of one great goddess;-)

  • love u 4 saying that. but tell the guys of america this and they'll laugh at u.

  • Voodoo doesnt care what ethnicity you are!!

  • I love this I wish it were longer. I have attended the rituals of hers and they are very nice and elaborate.

  • ok this is inaccurate because voodoo is an African tradition and the people who are seen practicing it here are the decendants of the people who enslaved the practitioners. I am glad that the tradition has such a broad following and wider acceptance. but, it is strange to see a voodoo ritual without a brown face in the house.

  • There are plenty of black and white people that practice voudon in New Orleans. It all depends on who's onfou you happen to be with and whose filming it at the time. And the lady Sallie Ann is jewish.

  • isnt that sallie glassman the mambo of new orleans?

  • Yes you are right is sallie

  • Yes that is Sallie Ann

  • I Love the tribal drumming.

  • have to be whites taking our culture

  • Love, I'm not white, but Vodou is for everyone. You must be very close minded to believe that the lwa would choose race. If you do your research, not all lwa are black...

  • What does skin color matter? O' yeah it doesn't. No one is taking your culture from you. They want to share you should be flattered.

  • To Sweetdaddy38:

Hey look around and see how many blacks have taken white culture - Christianity anyone?

Don't even think about it. If blacks are so proud of their culture, why don't they drop the white man's religion, the religion of their slave masters, and return to their REAL roots and religions they had in Africa?

And that's NOT Voudoun. Voudoun is a combination of Catholicism and Africian religions, so it is already MIXED white and black from the beginning. Belongs to both.

  • We don't go back to our religion because when we do it WE GET MURDERED FOR IT, CALLED BACKWARD SAVAGES, AND RIDICULED; whereas "whites" and others can practice it and be called enlightened. THIS PLANET IS BULLSHIT.

  • You know what? Just forget I even responded to you. MOST WHITE'S AREN'T CAPABLE OF EMPATHIZING WITH ANYONE ELSE, SO JUST FORGET I SAID ANYTHING TO YOU.

  • To Sarah

    For your info

    I have white friends

But about the christian thing you mention

White came to our country take our people take our land beat rape insult and kill our people and split our family and force them to believe in christianity if they didnt want they will be kill or burn by the way so why cant the whites go back europe and leave the christian religion that was orgin from a black culture also think before you talk

  • In history we know that white man destroy all culture and stole the christian that had their real race as in black and middle east that wasnt white

I respect every race but when you telling i have to go back africa you sending me to a country where your people take us out before

    But anywayz burn you

Nice video and blessing to all

  • white devils, lmao, practices spiritual, lolol hahahaha isnt whitey said that voodoo is backwardsness, shame whitey people fuck off.

  • which loa is she summoning?

  • The Mambo is Sallie Anne Glassman. The Ve'Ve' she is drawing is a Ve'Ve' of the Morts. I have one of her books with that Ve'Ve' in it called"Vodou Visions." I hope that helps.

    Blessings!!!

  • The Mambo is Sallie Anne Glassman. The Ve'Ve' she is drawing is a Ve'Ve' of Le' Mo' ( The Dead ). I have one of her books with that Ve'Ve' in it called"Vodou Visions." I hope that helps.

    Blessings!!!

  • i went to egypt they scared of voodoo they said haram we r muslims ...hahaha

  • whites cannot do voo doo..its 10,000 yrs old and it's african and egyptian in origin

  • so, a person who is german can work celtic magick, as an irish person work egyption magick, so saying whites cant do voodoo is kinda racist, but people of a certain heritage may be in more conntact with a magick from their origin

  • You are wrong and your comment is racist.

  • i dont get it,is it real voodoo, and was she doing? What ingredients did she use?? Well its funny cuz it looks like she is pouring cocaine on the floor and wine on top of it and getting high so high that she is dancing!

  • It's a Veve The powter is cornmeal.

  • The Mambo doing the drawing is Mambo Asogwe Sallie Anne Glassman. She is legitimate and she is good to work with as well as very nice! Dancing on the Ve'Ve' is done to spread the cornmeal out to basically spread the power/bless the place with the Ase' of the Loa all over the sacred space.

    Blessings!

  • Water has always been the cleanser of dirty things

  • Oh, hey, it's that woman that I seen on tv when it was some investigations how about Vodou - I forget what it's called now.

  • animistic religions are common on every continent, and therefore every shade of person is represented. :)

  • Make that 2008...time warp or brain damage from that one drink...AH HA en vivo N.O.

  • I was in New Orleans on January 12, 2007. It recovered nicely. I was harassed a bit. I was a federal bank examiner, an honest one. Death precedes me, death follows me, I am a survivor I think. I may peruse life and death in my navigation. We need some science to absorb the energy in the clouds and water to dampen the security of the water and wind beasts. Kurt Brown -- Saint Ram Bone, Mobile Audit Club

  • According to Sallie Anne Glassman this is a correct way of offering to the spirits, however her dress is very inappropriate. It appears that she is doing Rada. You never dress this way, especially for Rada. Another thing lacking from her service is the Priye Ginea.., she does not know it. You can not call the spirit without reciting the Priye I personally think it is a mockery of our tradition and a disrespectful attempt at attracting tourists and nothing more...

  • I'm so fascinated with this. I did this HUGE project on Africa and their voodoo ceremonies. It's all very intense and I wish to one day learn this and be part of it.

  • Are you stupid? I love my gang I mean its 21st and Budlong Tree Top Piru all day, but i love my GOD! SooWoop

  • I don't know much about voodoo, so I'm not criticizing -just curious.

Is this group mixing voodoo and Thelema? are they all white?

The temple (seemingly Thelemic) is very different from descriptions I've read, eg. no central post, etc., why is this?

  • I'm not sure how both religions can be mixed. I'm not even clear if there is a common point of history between the two faiths. Thelema is western in origin, and so far from Vodou. I wonder if Vodou is linked with worshipping the Egyptian Gods. Even if so, I am still uncertain how Vodou can be blended with Thelema, even though Thelema incorporates Egyptian deities. This is my opinion, but putting the Stele of Revealing & mixing Thelema with Vodou would change both traditions altogether.

  • Beautiful!

  • Way to go Sallie
