  • how old is your RES in this video?

  • How do you clean the tank?

  • cool set up, come to my channel and check mine out!

  • wont the turtle eat the fish?

  • For a water change, ideally you should only do a 25% water change, any more and it freaks out the fish, send pH levels about and mess with ideal nitrite and nitrate levels. You do treat the water for a few days BEFORE you put it in the tank right?

  • yay gansta turtle yayayayay get dat thang yo

  • how long and it stay under water?

  • has ur turtel ate the fish

  • Put a backgroud on that tank.

  • nice aquarium for now plenty of space ;) turtles pefer sand tho ;)

  • It looks like I have the same type of 'Turtle' as you. I have the same discussion over and over with my friends. They say they are terrapins but I thought terrapins were from the turtle family so you could still call them turtles. So whats the score are terrapins turtles :s?

  • @SporexMaster yeah there a species of turtle.

  • Can they breath under water?

  • @MrChemistro Nope, they breath like us, but they can hold there breath for much longer :)

  • @MrChemistro Not red eared sliders but common musk turtles are able to extract oxygen from the water using their tongue

  • check out my turtles luxio8 plzzzz

  • how much r there

  • @daydream898 LOL

  • I'm so stupid lol. My mom won't spend any money on my turtle for a basking light. I just figured out I can just take my turtle outside to bask for a little while... Wowwwwww.

  • so cuteeeeeee

  • Hey guys should i get a painted turtle or a Red Ear Slider? Leave a message Thanks !

  • @hiddendragon100 well a painted turtle are better pets cuz of size but red eared sliders are awesomer in every way

  • Hi there, I couldn't see very well in the video, but does your turtle have a place to sit rest when tired? :)

  • what was that sound at 2:00 when the turtle hit that object?

  • @jcs1716 the turtle sneezed is all.

  • i got one of these

    hes about 7 inches now

    hes huge

  • would any one want one female

  • i love how your turtle is so calm , mines is always swimming towards the tank for some reason , does that mean anything ? o.O

  • Comment removed

  • where do you get plants?

  • How big is the Res?

  • Very pretty turtle!

  • how much is a 75 gallon tank guys ?

  • Nice setup =) Glad to see people who properly take care of their RES.

  • @vear6 what's an RES?can someone tell me?thanks

  • @KevinIsM8ig Its an acronym for Red Eared Slider (the turtle that's in this vid.)

  • @KevinIsM8ig RES: Red Ear Slider.

  • how much did your tank cost you?

  • Do you still have this turtle? I am thinking of getting one but they live a long time don't they?

  • @Ricine about 40 years im told, friend

  • @Ricine they can live from 10 to 60 yrs

  • @xero3103 mine lived for 16 weeks :( and it had one of the best treating care

  • @cookie5730 oh..... :(

  • this is so cool..can anyone tell me for my turtle? i am new to this, i have my RES in a 10 gal, idk if thats too little or not.

  • @iiRockkSkiinies it all depends on the size, how big is your res?

  • @iiRockkSkiinies

you need bigger, I have a baby in a 50 gal

  • turtles are so cool

  • whats your set up on that baby ?

  • i think 75 gallons is a waste of money. my does fine in a 20 gallon

  • @advenger32 Well, how can you be so sure about that? I gave mine a 200 gallon :)

  • @MathiasKippen WOW! that seems a bit excessive but cool. stick up a video. i'll subscribe

  • @MathiasKippen and whoa, youre a serious seeming gamer!

  • Awesome tank.

  • you got a nice boy slider that is good and lots of fish i wish i could have that much water but my vet says he cant because of his calcium deficiancy so he has a 10 gal no fish one basking spot and enough water to play in

  • man your turtle isnt shy at all..my turtles swim under a rock whenever i look at them its rare that i see them even swim!

  • i've witnessed my turtles murder goldfish like a lion would to a zebra. kinda gross to watch but that's how nature intended it to be.

  • well i have bene raising turtles for over 30 years what hardly any one knows that res turtles are really made for out door ponds they can get up to 20 inches on some if female and males get big too just not that big and as a pet even 75 gallons insant enough when full grown its 10 galls per inch of turtle just look it up buggest red eared slider

  • @wonderwondswoman it doesn't hurt to raise the turtle for awhile before releasing it to a pond. that's what i did was raise raised my 2 red ears from when they were a size of quarter to a tennis ball. i let em go at a pond i call turtle kingdom at a local park.

  • Mmm... little fishes to eat! :) Yum

  • let's go ninja turtles!

  • do common musk turtles eat fish? like guppies nd rummy nose tetra nd shrimp, cos i have dem nd i was wonderin if i could put a musk turtle in

  • @maxmcgovern1996 yes they do and it's also a a good idea to feed your turtles live food so when you're sick of cleaning up after it getting too big, they can adapt to living in the wild when you let it go

  • Great set up! And YES RES DO EAT FISH. Well I have 2 that don't and 1 that does. My 2 younger ones don't because younger ones diets are mainly plant or pellet or worms. But my adult RES does eat fish, along with anything else you put in there.

  • Man cleaning takes time!

  • Does anyone have any tips on having fish with turtles? Are there certain types of fish that you recommend? My turtles have always killed the one's in my tank...

  • @Min1jeTLee It all depends on what kind of turtle you have. And most importantly how old it is. I suppose you have a red eared slider since this video is a turtle of a RES. These turtles are more carnivorous when they are young. This is the time in their life when, if offered any live food, they will most likely take it (they will eat food pellets when young too, which I would recommend that before live food). When they are older they come to have a vegetarian like diet.

  • @redearedslider1 Thanks for the response! I have two baby RER, about 2 years old, and I generally feed them pellets. I used to have two adult RER's too but they would always kill the fish.

  • @Min1jeTLee Adult RES will most of the time ignore any fish in the tank. Unless the fish is dead or struggleing, in other words, "an easy catch". Do you happen to know exactly how old your turtles were before? They may have not been adults quite yet. Turtles can live up to 40 years in captivity if cared for correctly. If they were younger than 20 years then they would probably still be seen as young.

  • @redearedslider1 That makes so much more sense. I had my "adult" turtles for about 5 to 6 years. They were getting pretty big so I assumed they were adults :] Man, so if I want fish in my turtle tank I am going to be old too!

  • the turtle gonna eat those fish ????

  • @Viet4LifeST hahahaha! I was wondering the same thing because I'm planning to put little fishies on my turtle tank :D

  • That's a beautiful turtle and tank setup you have there. Like some people have said, I too was under the impression that the turtle would need a place to get out of the water to bask and rest. I've never kept an aquatic turtle, but recently have been thinking of converting my tank to house one... or maybe two. I'm just looking around at people's setups and reading whatever I can find to learn how to care for turtles. Mainly what I'm looking into atm, is what fish can cohabit well with them.

  • @Khepramancer i have a baby tiger oscar cichlid in my turtle tank. i have a baby mississippi map turtle, baby texas map turtle, and about a week ago got my baby razorback musk. i got a baby tiger oscar cichlid and i have 2 rubber lipped pleco fish(algae eaters). so 3 turtle, 3fish. the reason i got them all as babies so they can learn to coincide with eachother and not be aggressive . any questions i can help on turtle car as well

  • dude, with your water level that high in your tank, that turtle can escape. the basking dock should be about half way up the tank, mabe more, but i understand a lot of water so if she dives off the log really fast she won 't hit the bottom. you really should lower water level cuz she could fall out of the tank (assuming she escapes) she could die from the impact of the fall, or get a very serious injury.

  • How large is your turtle?

  • I like those black river rocks, where'd you get them? And how much of a bitch was it to clean them?

  • redearslider(dot)com all the information you need is there

  • what temperature should the water be at, for a red ear slider

  • @whatterer at least 75 they will tolerate lower temps but might be a lil sluggish .. but they should be ok as long as you have a basking area and baskling light

  • dont not put fish..it will cut into pieces....

  • @DENNY777777 I think thats what they eat

  • I like turtholes

  • so lucky your turtles dont eat all the fish all at once. Mine just bites the heads/ tail of everything that moves.

  • i like turt holes equal best quote ever related to this video

  • can i put a crab with mine??or a smaller one?mine is female will it get ok with another one in a 40 litre tank?

  • The green plant is not needed in the tank. Most turtles will pull them out from under the rocks. It looks nice to add it but it's not needed in a turtle tank. The feeder fish are a good add though.

  • Dude! My turtle is LAME, we've had it for about 2 years now, but it's so scared and paranoid it's just boring when it hides every time you look at it. We had to get rid of our friendly painted turtle because they were both males and horny. They started competing for an invisible female. Anyway, love the setup, and thanks for the info of what you do. I need help finding a friendly RES.

  • @99brian99 so why didnt you just keep the painted?

  • @99brian99 lol i figured that if you appear taller than you turtle, he will be scared, but if you keep your head the same distance as turtle, they won't be so scred. How do I know? I've had many turtles in the past and all were the same. *puts cat in blender* i like your setup. Nearly similar to mine.

  • @RUDSTER121 id have to say i agree with that statement .. also i have all red heat lamps on my setups and at night when the tanks lights are off and the rooms lights are off and all the red lights glow its pretty cool.... plus the turtles really cant see you and you can watch them without disturbing them or making them scared ..its pretty cool

  • Won't he eat the fish?

  • awwww hes sooo cute

  • i am planing to get to turltes and put them in my 140 gallon tank, it is going to be awsome

  • that guy has alot of room to move aorund in

  • i have 4 baby red ear slider turtles, how many gallons should my tank be ?

  • @BiebersShawty1 ur tank should be more than 200 but like 4 rite now about 50 or 70 cause red ear slider grow big so i kinda recomend just to have one

  • @BiebersShawty1 How big are they? Im guessing 2 inches the most? Well right now they need at least a 80 gallon tank and most likely have to buy a separate tank or 2 since there will most likely be some aggression problems when they get older.

  • @BiebersShawty1 the thing is female res get to about 12 inches in carapace length thats there shell lenght from head to tail, males usually about 6-7 inches the rule is however long the turtles adult lenght will be you need that much water in depth and width and about a 5 ft long tank .... keep an eye out for agression with the males,, you will be able to tell the males cause they have long "finger nails" good luck

  • you know that those turtles can eat the fish right

  • does ur tank have a basking area? cus mine dont

  • @The1john123 You should work on getting one.

  • Don`t want to sound like a bad person, but you never did a zoom out, I wanted to see the tank, we just see almost the turtle, more hen is a 75 gallon tank...

  • @Neakiaro yes but how would you like to be locked up in a small tank just because their not humans doesnt mean they dont have feelings retard

  • @caramelslider298 i tottaly agree!!! i have dogs and i let them roam free (i live deep in the forest so thres no cars to smash them... and theres nothing to eat our dogs

  • hey does anyone know if i can keep a turtle tank in my room without having to refresh the water? i'm planning to use a strong filter

  • **READ PLEASE**

Hey check out my turtle setup please

I worked hard on it and i need some more views lol

  • ii was gonna get a turtle yesterday but i couldnt cuzitwas too much !!! >:l grrrrrr. soo now i have too wait till christmas!!! 6 MONTHS AWAY grr

  • i luv turtles....<3 i need a bigger tank for my big fella.

My bro and i have 3 turtles all together but by bros died... i will always remember vegas and killer.....my bro was young when he named his....my turtle is a strong survivor.... GO SPLASHY GO...as you can tell i was young when i named my turtle as well

  • can sum1 help me out. ive got a yewllow belly slider and i wanna no how long they tend to live for?

  • @elvetankage Turtles can easily live 50-70 years.

  • hey, your turtle needs a larger basking area! and it is probably better to feed only a few fish at a time. feed the others in a separate tank.

  • Wish I had the money to own a custom made aquarium a 200 gallon tank have guppies and all sort of calm fishes and 6 much smaller turtles, with some frogs that would be amazing but no

Money so I'll just dream of my aquarium

  • ehmm where is the light for your turtle????

  • Turtles are very territorial, its not ok to put them with another turtle. And you should have no substrate or large gravel because turtles explore their world by tasting so if they were to eat a peice of gravel it could become impacted and they could die.

  • @TheShakedownSoul

Just to let you know, I have two red eared sliders and a paint that all live together. I have had the RES's for ten years and the Paint for four years. They get along perfectly and are very social with eachother. So in my experience, it is okay to house turtles together...... I do agree about the gravel thing, however.

  • is it not better to have a sand or gravel bottom?

  • Where is the basking area????

  • Um..i hav a question.. Do turtles like to play with other turtles or fishes cause i put the fishes and turtles in different tanks

  • @Khaosmoglin It's a 50 50. Turtle might eat the fish.

  • no its good to put fish and turtles toghter

  • is it bad to put fish annd turtles toghter

  • what kind of pump is that?

  • now i want to go swimming. LOL

  • my turtlle died he had a bump on his neck when he started not to eat or swim

  • pretty sweet tank

  • Awesome setup. I just have a tub with some bricks and a heat lamp for my RES.

  • can they live with fancy goldfish?

  • Can fire belly toads be together with red eared sliders ?

  • @1012Bumblebee Ehhhhhhh...i wouldnt try it....it probably depends on the size of your turtle. your turlte would probably try to eat the frog. they eat anything.

  • How big should the pebbles be and should I get red claw crabs with the turtle or should I just get sand

  • @drkingslend he does have land...The landing is floating right by the filter tube where the filtered water enters at the top...I got two Red Ear Sliders also and i've had them for 8-9 years and are about 6 inches in diameter.I have a 100 gallon filter and it doesnt keep up with thier filth.Have to clean every week. Its an exterior filter with the feed and return hoses.Dirty animals!Love them though

  • nice tank... u should try sand looks nice.. :)

  • read the description before u leave a comment

  • cud any 1 help me check my RES vid out and help out plz

  • yup

  • I am putting a very small plexiglass container together. Does anyone know what to use to clean it ? The sheets are thin Lexan from Lowes.

  • hey how do you keep your water so clear man i have a 50 G tank and its durty i have a filter but its not so great which one do you use

  • your tank looks really clear. what filter and how many are you using? i have a 55 gallon n always hard 2 keep clean. please help.. thanks

  • i feed my turtle some baby turtles.

  • 01:46 what is that thing called that is pushing out water and has holes?? is it part of the filter or is bought sepreatly? sorry for some this may be a dumb question. but i really want to know.

  • @nothingxbutxpoison its called a spraybar

  • @CCWSig

sorry for not saying thanks erlier :]

    but thank yo too =^_^=

  • ive got one, is just a tube that comes off your filter which has holes in it. Its just to the filter from creating a strong current, and i suppose circulates better. Pretty sure you can find one at a fish place or something.

  • hey thanks i really appriciate it :] i need better circulation in my tank for my corys :]

  • how long can a turtle go without a uv light and if its over the time nd u get 1 can it re-harden its shell!?!

    please answer!!!

  • it depends. The UV light is so the turtle can get ultra violet rays, without it the turtle's shell will soften. I am unsure if the shell is soft it can become hard again. If you do not have one you can watch your turtle outside for about 6 hours per week as long as it is hot were you are at like in Florida, if it is to cold your turtle will die

  • @enVme731 thanks!!! that was really helpful!!!

  • nice tank, that turtle looks really happy ;)

  • Aww it seems so happy. My friend has one and it has a gallon tank and its about that size hopefully she gets a bigger tank because they need a good amount of space.

  • hey im wondering why my turtle would rather munch on his basking dock over the food, he doesnt actually eat the dock he just rips bits off, i feed him everyday but he only eats max 2 pellets. maybe something to do with hibernation in the winter? aany answers appreciated.

  • @notdatingnicole make sure you have the correct water temperature around 75-78F

  • if its a female it could have eggs i heard they sometimes dont eat if it has eggs... maybe?

  • That's odd. We have 2 young turtles who will eat until they explode if given the chance,

  • i feed my turtle in the water. i give him about 10 pellets, he eats that in under 10 sec. i believe its how much they can eat in 30 sec or a minute or something like that. then i give him krill ones a week as a treat

  • You kinda have to feed em in the water as they cant digest properly out of the water. And i heard it was 15mins of him eating. Not sure.

  • they shouldent eat catfish or plecos... especially if theyre big enough!!!

  • lol at 2:00

  • Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude i cant wait till my turtle gets dat big hes just a hatchling now so yeh...

  • i have a big turtle but i also like hatchlings cause theyre so small and cute(not that big ones arent cute cause they are) but u ar lucky to have a little hatchling!!!

  • can some 1 tell me what will happen if i dont have a heating lamp for my two baby red eared sliders i just have a heater no filter or light or a place 2 bask wat will happen and they are in a 10 gallon

  • Comment removed

  • nothing bad, ive had mine like that in a 20 gallon for its whole life. just a 20 gal with a rock to get out of the water. got the turtle when he was quarter size and hes now 4-5 inches. so no biggy for you. just get a rock or something he can perch out on above water

  • I would get a heating lamp because they need UVA/UVB light rays...like every reptile they are cold blooded so if you do not provide enough heat they could potentially die because their metabolism will slow down...they can stay in a ten gallon tank for now but as they get bigger you should consider switching tanks

  • Comment removed

  • Becarful that yo buddy dosnt try to eat those fake plants and it will need a Baskin island and a heat lamp

  • well i tried to upload vid had some complications i might try again later.....maybe lol

  • love the tank i got alot of my ideas for mine from it ill post my vid of mine not as nice but i think it is a good living space

im thinking of getting rid of my rocks

once winter is over im going to move them outside for the first time!!! im happy oh and if anyone has tips on filters or anything else im open to it i need more info

  • How wide is ur tank?
