@alamoghost do some research first retard. the carol burnett show was famous for lip syncing! lip syncing was actually one of the reasons that the show became unpopular in the second season. my internet connection and computer have nothing to do with historical facts, so stuff it!
@BenBen153 LOL...do some research...I lived in that era....dumbass :). Hey, it took you 2 days to respond and two more days to get this to you....go from your pentium 1 get a new computer...update your dial up to dsl or cable connection...and exchange your 14 monochrome monitor to a nice 23 inch color. Then sit in a corner, suck your thumb, and say " take me to a happy place".
@alamoghost fuck you. you may have lived in that era but you were still retarded enough to think that they were actually singing. you know nothing about computers you fucking 8-bit brain dinosaur. get a life.
@BenBen153 Wow, it took you about a week to repond this time. Your computer getting worst? Do us all a favor...please stay off the internet until you update your peace of crap. I'm afraid that when you access the internet, you are slowing the rest of us down. You know, sorta like the old lady that drives really SLOW on the left hand side of the freeway! By the way, we are now using WIN 7...so stop using that DOS 5 operating system. Throw out those old computer punch cards yet :)
Jim wasn't lip synching....but....what we are hearing is a studio recording of Jim singing. (I used to own "The Heart Touching Magic of Jim Neighbors").
Jim was, most likely, singing along with this track but all of the stage microphones were switched off.
If it were live, you would hear the dancers' footsteps, Jim's voice would have varied slightly as he moved about the stage and you would hear background noise from the studio audience.
I think Jim Nabors is great. I am 46 and have always been a fan of his. It is so interesting to read an explanation such as yours. It is always fun when you can come to YouTube and learn something, as I did with your post. You obviously have great knowledge about the subject about which you are posting. I think it is wonderful that in 2010 he was still singing "Back Home Again in Indiana" at the Indianapolis 500.
If you listen to the very beginning of the song, you hear the music that was played to the studio audience. At 16 seconds the audio shifts to the soundtrack from the album.
Now there is chance the the switch from the studio music to the soundtrack was done by the poster of this video. But you can tell at 16 seconds a change takes place. My feeling, as noted before, is that Jim was signing for real to the studio audience.
He is 70 and his voice is still powerful. Sings the opening song for the Memorial Day Race Back Home in Indiana every year. Type in Jim Nabors, Back home in Indiana 2010.
Jim Nabors and Carol Burnett did a duet years ago. I can't remember the name of the song but it was in Black and White. I believe it was on his show. Does anyone have the video or any info?
How could anyone not like him??? And RIP Frank Sutton. Also research unbelievable bad luck Karen Morrow had in her quest for Broadway stardom (documented in B'way musicals book) . Didn't know that.
I disagree. I can't see how he wasn't lip synching. There are no microphones anywhere, Most TV shows
back then prerecorded the music. Especially a production number like this, with people moving around. The first thing I thought when this started, he's lip synching. He was the anti-hippie of the 60's.
I not gay, but if I was I would wear that outfit 24/7. Man, I miss the variety show on TV! Where can you get stuff like this today. Maybe the greatest thing I have ever seen!!!
Jim's voice is one of a kind and if you don't believe me, come to the Indianapolis "500" next year and hear a 79 year old sing from the heart! "Back Home Again in Indiana" belongs to all of us, but for those of us who live here, Jim is truly ours.
Jim Nabors was rumored to be pervert but he is not. He chose to be single because he thought that his work was his life and raising a family would not be compatible with celebrity life. See the Jim Nabors site
Even if he was so what? You got idiots on here saying he's gay and such and they bash him, yet they probably speak highly of other people that are gay. Yea this might seem kinda corny to the younger generation, but when I was younger this is all there was on television at the time. Everyone enjoyed it.
That makes sense - 82 comes aftre 81

Jim Nabors turned 81 in 2011. He'll be 82 on June 12, 2012.

Jim Nabors during his life was an American treasure that too few appreciated, a truly talented and loving human being.

Anybody have that Kung Fu goof, "Young Fool?"
I might have come up on rock and roll, but I have to admit this is an entertainer.
There have been attempts to revive comedy/variety, but except for the Smothers Brothers revivals, if you count old masters, they all fell flat.
