Wake up. This is a film about the UK Government being institutionally ageist. Its asking people to take a stand against it, and let the government know that people care about the law when a lack of it allows discrimination against an entire population of people over 65. This has nothing to do with religion, god or belief. Its what is socially acceptable for a population who have fought in wars and paid tax all their lives, as well as all the people who are going to be over 65 in the UK.
The sad fact is the culture of death has taken hold of England.
Abortion is the murder of a child - a person created in the image and likness of God - a person with an immortal soul - a person who is our sister or brother.
Those who support abortion support the murder of a person. And the saddest thing of all is that will send the abortion supporters soul to hell.
Looking at the big picture. It's not as if we don't know what to do, but we cannot seem to do it. We need God and salvation, and it truly is only found in what's beyond us and yet came to us from heaven, Jesus the Christ. I support this video though my dad is getting older, and so are all my relatives. I never really had any grandparents and so this is opening my eyes. The places they live, and how they aren't listened to it's just wrong.God Loves you and may God's mercy be on you.
Thats your opionon, and I dont argue it, rather I like to thank you for giving your opionon, without acting superior than us who believe, it often happens.
What do you mean God is just a theory?! I'm not one of those extremist Christians but i luffles god! *huggles god* How do you explain all those ghosts and angels and how if someone's possesed, God hynms get rid of it??
WOW, making discrimination illegal only makes discrimination stronger. The only way we can do away with discrimination is by evolving our conscience. Not by some corny rule of law. I wish conservative and liberal agendas will one day kill each other off this planet.
HappytheHobo13, we do need to evolve our consciences as you put it, but compare how racism is in the UK today and how it was before it was made illegal. Legislation is and was the first step to showing society that these prejudices are wrong.
Because I'm fifteen, I'm considered a minor. And as such, I'm denied a lot of rights that people over the age of eighteen have. I'd say that's just as much discrimination as the elderly being denied insurance.
You are totally right- hopefully the young will be protected as much as the elderly under the discrimination law review being proposed by the UK gov. However, if Brown doesn't include age in the law then both the young and the old are left wide open to be discriminated against. Not a very nice place to be in!
It's got to be hard on their part though, because there's probably going to have to be some registry system to make sure that underage people are OK to have the rights.
Ha ha ha Jesus Christ? hey ask Jesus if he liked the Crusades that we gave him or what he thinks about his corporation(The church) taking out pedophilia insurance. How juvenile can one be to displace all social responsibility on their imaginary friend? And then you wonder why the world is the way it is? THEN DO SOMETHING.
It isn't common practice in the Christian Church to molest children, genius. And if you've READ the bible, you'll see that it doesn't tell people to just rely on God to take care of everything; it tells people to help other people. It's extremely ignorant to just dismiss a figure like Jesus Christ as "imaginary" and call the Church a "corporation", since you can prove neither.
The church raked in an estimated 10 billion last year and that of course is un-taxed. As for pedophilia insurance;another fact of the church swimming in it's own hypocrisy. The bible, I've read the bible, it was written by man and contained alot of scientific and moral errors but that's a different issue. Your last point almost made me laugh; ignorant to just dismiss a figure like Jesus Christ as "imaginary", you do realize the irony in that comment.
For something to be a corporation, it has to be a business. And for something to be a business, it has to offer goods and services in exchange for money. While the Christian Church offers services, it doesn't require you to pay for them. Instead, you can choose to donate to the church. So you think donation should be taxed? Furthermore, if you don't believe in Jesus Christ, that's fine. But it's insulting to say that it's fact that He's imaginary without proof.
My friend what's insulting is that it takes a policeman in the sky and supernatural consequences for one to stay true to their moral obligatory. You and I are much alike, only I believe in one less god than you do. Once you understand why you reject all other gods, you'll understand why I reject yours.
Furthermore for you to assume the onus falls on me to disprove the existance of something to which there is no proof that it exists reveals your juvenile rationale. I prefer reality with all its universal rules, than the ludicrous, "real until proven otherwise" mentality of you and others alike.
I'm not telling you God exists, I'm telling you that I believe in God. I don't know for a fact that He exists, but I choose to believe it. You however are telling me that God doesn't exist. You can believe whatever you want to believe, but before you say that something is definite fact, prove it first.
I believe in facts, not what I'm force-fed from birth. Your belief is relative, it is a subjective view point, you can be as delusional as you so wish fit to be, but the lack of facts doesn't presume the assumption that one exists solely on lack of facts. Your rationale for believing in Jesus Christ can be same as believing in witches or fairies but I assume you don't hold credence in those, hopefully. As for donations you should really inquire into how the vatican spends its surplus.
It's not fact that there is no God. There's no way of proving it, so there aren't legitimate facts saying that God doesn't exist. I'm not saying you need to believe in God, but have some courtesey and respect the fact that there are people that do. Don't call be delusional just because I choose to believe in something that you don't.
But it is delusional. Your rationale for holding belief in god is that there is no evidence suggesting it doesn't exist, hence the same holds true for a five year old who believes in santa. It never once crossed your mind that the definition of god in itself cannot be proven or disproven by human means? Society created such a being in such a way as to have it as a staple so as to not be questioned of its existence.
No, my rationale for holding belief in God is that I think that there IS more to life than "you live, you reproduce, you die". I'm sorry if it makes you think I'm "delusional" for me to believe in something that makes me happy and makes me feel like I have a purpose, but you need to lay off. Last quick bit:never said racism and sexism were non-existent. Please don't put words in my mouth. They're quite prevalent everywhere, including the US, where I,like you, live. We need to take the beams out of our own eyes at home, before telling others 'bout the motes in theirs.
UserAlan1, racism and sexism are illegal in the UK, which is what the guy in the video refers to. It was only once they were made illegal that real progress was made in society in terms of accepting that they are wrong. They may still exist in society but legislation was a key early step in beginning to phase them out. We need to do the same with ageism.
The older I get, the more that I see what my grandmother said is true. When you are old, you are still you on the inside, but when you look into the mirror there is a stranger staring back at you. Protect our elderly, for if we are lucky to live long enough, one day we will BE the elderly. In a monastary in Europe there is a etched into the wall a message: "As you are now, I once was. As I am now, you will be."
if you say ef old people or you hate old people I have no idea what to say to you. You must be 1 of two things immortal or a person who plans on dying before they get old o_O
man. look at it this way. 40+ million viewers. only about 500 or so are stupid enough to say they 'hate' old people. stupid ... because like it or not you might become old some day (that is if you dont die young) lol
I agree - but they do at least have protection in law, which ageism is lacking outside of some work-based law. Ageism can destroy a life or livelihood as much as sexism - let's change that.
i agree age discrimination is wrong, old people deserve the same respect as everyone esle, but if they're going to make it illegal then it should be wrong to be treated like crap and treated like a dangerous criminal or a violent person for being young aswell, just thought i would add that at the end
How do you mean fob off older people with pains? Do you mean that it's not right that older people should not get arthritis? You need to speak to God about that, not blame doctors for it.
Whats the difference between a 64 year old going to the dr to complain about arthritis, and a 65 year old?
The 65 year old will be told its their age, and the 64 year old will be treated for arthritis. God has nothing to do with it unless God created the NHS?
petrel9, I think you're splitting hairs, don't you? Older people are consistently deprioritised simply because of a number, regardless of how fit they are or how long they will go on to live. We need to start accepting them as equals rather than less equal than ourselves.
Good performance nicely made. Think they could have used more positive images of older people. The point is well made so doesnt need re-inforcing by showing stereotypical images of the elderly as helpless people.
Cloning sheep? absolute no chance, you'll be telling us next that scientists will be doing stem cell research on animal-human hybrid embryos - total science fiction.
he was being sarchastic (i think) and we are/have done stem research...did you watch the video or did you just read the comments cause that entire video was sarchastic except for the end message, dumbass
That guy looks like this old homeless boy who hangs out near the Arndale, in Manchester. And he's proper posh too, poor sod. This guy might even be the same bloke!! Great vid tho. It's funny! Is that Cherie Blair and the guy from the news?! Ha ha ;0)
Ageism is illegal in the workplace, not elsewhere. Your parents and grandparents can all be denied fair healthcare or insurance rates simply because of their age.
Doctors fob off older people with pains saying it's "because of their age" and many older people are denied travel insurance once they reach 65, however healthy.
Government is planning a new Equalities Bill, so we've got to act to outlaw ageism now. Follow the link in the top right to tell Gordon ageism isn't on.
Cheers. I'll check that out. Actually, I didn't even know it was illegal in the workplace. My father in law has applied for a job in the post office three times where he lives and has been rejected all three times. I think now I understand why and he's only 57! Thanx for the info. JT

A future where China and India have 100 million fewer female babies because of sex selection abortion.
A future where the porn industry make more money than the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, and NASCAR combined!
A future where millions are strung out on drugs to hide the pain of the immoral "choices" we have made.
A future where we are in dire need of faith, hope, and love - and that can only be found in Jesus Christ.

petrel9 3 years ago
petrel9, I think you're splitting hairs, don't you? Older people are consistently deprioritised simply because of a number, regardless of how fit they are or how long they will go on to live. We need to start accepting them as equals rather than less equal than ourselves.

straight to the point. i agree completely.

Oh well, I think I had better keep it in the day. Well done. Excellent point made excellently.

Great performance - even better than Chalmondley-Warner. It's about time someone bit back about age discrimination. Toodle-pip!

Good video, great point, liked it.

we have cloned sheep before, dumbass.

OMG, your kidding right? LOL.
There's a few jokes in there just in case you didn't get it or are too young to understand humour and/or current politics.
glennarcher39 3 years ago
he was being sarchastic (i think) and we are/have done stem research...did you watch the video or did you just read the comments cause that entire video was sarchastic except for the end message, dumbass

That guy looks like this old homeless boy who hangs out near the Arndale, in Manchester. And he's proper posh too, poor sod. This guy might even be the same bloke!! Great vid tho. It's funny! Is that Cherie Blair and the guy from the news?! Ha ha ;0)

Hi burner & james,
Ageism is illegal in the workplace, not elsewhere.

JT

Hello fruity - Love it! Where did you get this guy? He's brilliant. I would have never guessed this film was for a charity. Really effective. Other charity films should be like this.

Rascist? Ok. Disabled? OK. Sexist? Funny. But why always pick on us Scots? As if the Rangers game didn't do anough damage!

Ha ha! Not very PC but important message... It reminds me of those old Harry Enfield sketches.
SURELY! I thought Ageism was already illegal though. Might want to check that out!
