@hornherodog If you're referring to the bent pipe and angled bell, it is deliberate. It increases the projection of sound. If you're referring to the lack of any lacquer, lacquer can alter the pitch of the trumpet by making the pipes a tad bit denser, so some trumpets are made without it. If you are referring to the fellow in the middle with the sideways trumpet, it is a rotary valve trumpet. I don't know of any difference between those and piston valved trumpets, besides being cooler looking.

The last half of this song is sung in a style called „djamparah” (spelled „geampara” in romanian), a style common for the aromanians. They are spread out in the Balkans, mainly Greece, Albania, Serbia, Macedonia, Bulgaria and Romania.

No connection whatsoever to Moldavia, maybe just their superb interpretation. :)
