Aren't any of his more recent commercials on here? This is an old commercial. In the newer ones he's so fired up that he's about to burst a blood vessel. He is positively serene in this video compared with the ones which are currently running on Hampton Roads TV stations! LOL Somebody needs to post some of the newer ones because they are definitely YouTube worthy!

Sausages are famously made from unappealing, distasteful bits of the animal (brains, offal, intestines etc) so the phrase means that seeing it done would put you off even if the end result might be desirable.

Otto von Bismarck (first Chancellor of Germany) used the phrase to describe law-making.
