Very interesting, it would seem like I personally like the older sound better. It is unfortunate that the harpsichord disappeared, trends always seem to take away from music historically.
Very interesting. I feel like the modern piano has regressed in some ways compared to the Walter piano. The desire to increase its volume and power led to the loss of control over tonal color by playing at different dynamics. Sure, it may be better for playing large concert halls, but it's too bad older models didn't remain in use for smaller gatherings (or even recording sessions). I'd also love to have the moderator over the sostenuto, which doesn't get much use.
OMG!!! Mozart sounds so much better on the replica piano.
It should be mandatory all mozart's pieces to be played on such pianos

:'( I liked that moderated sound. I wish we still had it.

The 18th century piano's action is very similar to a Fender Rhodes.

@TalicZealot The hapsichord disappeared? There are dozens of those at most conservatories. The instrument is alive and kicking!

I learned to play on a piano that had a moderator, though. It was a modern piano with 3 pedals. That's the same thing, right?
