  • So how did 149 people disliked this video? What, those people think these kids who doesn't have a decent home than us, work at a VERY young age than us, survive, and help each other, isn't in a bad living than the people who at least have stable government and economy, access to clean water, and lazy? Well I will take away the lazy part but shame on them dislikes.

  • What they need is OPPORTUNITIES....a chance, that can change their life...ONE CHANCE... they need see world from another perspective...

  • I am proud to be Bengali ( Bangladeshi ) and proud to be Muslim.

  • @Rahul99ish me too :)

  • arch weld with no shield..... ok

  • lol you so fat

  • @stylezp23 lol you so obvious

  • @stylezp23 You are so mean! That's such an unnecessary thing to say!

  • Uncultered: IMO, small amounts of support are not effective. Path out of poverty is ingenuity+human hands using powered machinery, powered by high efficiency energy source like oil or coal. Select the smartests kids via intelligence tests and get them into a program to learn about high productivity. For an example of how to do this, see Ashalayam in Kolkata - visit them. (they don't use intelligence test, but if funds are small, that would help to make best use of funds)

  • think big think rich lol

  • Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

  • I made a video on Bangladesh too :) It is good to bring awareness to the world!

  • "The Poor" are not randomly poor - they are KEPT poor by the industrial and wage system that profits off their labor. Who do you think they're working for? Do you think it's for other poor families? Think again. Boycott Wal-Mart, the Gap, H&M, Old Navy, etc.

  • @musicalidea Well, as you can see in the above video, some of the people are self-employed. They work for themselves.

  • @UnculturedProject This is true - but the most actionable point that needs to be emphasized to complacent Western consumers is that many of their cheap clothes & other products are sewn & manufactured in Bangladesh. They need to know that the abysmally low wages, 16 hr/day 7 day weeks, hazardous and abusive working conditions imposed by ENORMOUSLY PROFITABLE WESTERN CORPORATIONS were the subject of the massive strikes attempting to increase the min. wage in June 2010. Their fight is our fight.

  • @UnculturedProject We in the West - at least nominally - have the power to control the corps that derive their legal right to do business, that derive the protection of their assets & copyrights & the value of their currency from our governments. We are the only 1s who can impose the desperately needed regulations - such as the Decent Working Conditions and Fair Competition Act (look it up!) - to prevent global wage arbitrage. Domestic markets can't emerge w/o better wages, nor dev. w/o taxes.

  • @UnculturedProject There are a TON of ignorant people in the comment sections. Don't let these type of people wash you down. I'm still young, but I try to contribute money into these projects or organizations. Hopefully I can be part of these projects. Your videos inspired me! Keep on going!

  • @UnculturedProject i dont think the user is referring to this video specifically..Its how the third world nations are used for the benefit of multi national corporations.

  • @musicalidea Can I see exact research and documentation of the occurrence. because if anything the only ones that would actively be holding back development would be the local gov't. multinationals are all about trade-offs and don't impose anything on the locals. they offer employment and wages for the population to either take or refuse. in return the people work for that pay.

  • I am from Bangladesh and Your Video makes me sad and smile

  • What's the first thing I thought when I saw the boys working those little jobs?

TYRANNICAL GOV'T DOES NOT ALLOW SMALL BUSINESSES LIKE THOSE

    TO OPERATE OVER HERE!

Try checking out the REGULATIONS and FEES it takes to OPEN A SMALL

TEA SHOP here in the U.S.

The gov't has taxed and regulated family business into OBLIVION, while

mega-corporations who FUND ELECTION CAMPAIGNS get special

    treatment.

You don't have to go clear to Bangladesh. LOOK in WV, MS, eastern KY,

    southern OH, etc.

  • @4freespeech Interesting POV. But, correct me if I'm wrong, are you in support of child labor?

  • @UnculturedProject If you mean forced labor sweatshops where children are exploited by

large corporations I need not dignify that with an answer. No rational human supports that.

But for children who want to work to help their family, to learn a trade or to avoid whiling

away wasted hours being "dumbed down" in gov't "indoctrination centers", (called "public

schools" by some), then WHY NOT?

Been around American kids lately? Most love useful work instead of idiotic video games.

  • @4freespeech

You're just a dumbass who just thinks he knows everything. I'm an American kid and I'd much rather study so I can go out into the world and get a job helping people rather than waste my youth, and chance at a bright future, in a shop. Only a soul without any aspiration or desire would stay working in a shop, family or not, and skip out on education.

  • @Gright Let's see how you measure up 50 years from now when you qualify to judge your elders who, BTW, have spent all those years before you were ever thought of helping people who are worse off than we are.

YOU think you know it all like most 20-year-olds I meet, and bet you're still at home living off Mommy &

Daddy who spoil you pulp rotten. Your vulgar comment to me shows your ignorance & lack of proper manners.

Report on it after you live and work as a MAN a few decades, bright boy.

  • Poverty is everywhere. it's not as much about here or there as much as someone actually trying to do something about it. Even if you can't change the world, I think you'll know if you've changed at least a person's life. Very inspiring. :)

  • THE ONLY MISTAKE THEY MADE WAS BEING BORN ON THIS FUCKING WORLD !!!

PPL YOU HAVE TO STOP TAKING ADVANTAGES ...

NO OFFENSE BUT PLEASE HELP EM :D THX

  • That's what I did, I left the war behind and here I am, I'm just 15 and my life's still pretty crap but one day. I will follow my destiny. I came to rich country and learnt english in months and over took these stupid people that are infected by their technology and do not understand. Look around, 99% of the doctors are foreign. If we gave the kind of opportunites westerners have to the east, we would have acheived soo much.

  • The smartest, most commited and willing people in the world are those that are poor; those surrounded by war in countries like Iraq and Afghanistan.

When a person is put into such conditions where all they see around them is suffering and pain, they adapt, their eye's widen and we see the world in a new perspective all to fight and strive so desperatly that you will never understand all in order to break free and be succesful and rich and fullfil their thirst for happiness.

  • R u trying to be another Mr Younus trying to make money out of the poor?

  • @rohi1bd Oh my God you're right! This is why, since starting this over three years ago, I haven't been able to eat a meal without borrowing money from my parents. Or why I've never had a place to stay without having to be given a free bed to sleep on by either friends or family. Or why my aunts and uncles and friends have to buy me clothes.

I also love how if anyone helps the poor (like PROFESSOR Yunus) and DOESN'T have to be dependent on others they're accused of making money off the poor.

  • can i join ur organization?

  • @SAIDON92 Hey - my work isn't a charity or organization. Just something I do as a guy. But this local NGO I featured in the video - or ones just like it - could use your help :)

  • Ohhhh!!! Please god help those people who don't have a good living

  • i was shocked to see that you could not pronounced his name as shafiqul!i am preity sure that you are not an English or white american.you got asian background.despite all these its funny that you pretended that you cant pronounced an asian name!!

  • @warcriminal71 Not being white doesn't mean I can automatically pronounce all the rural names and understand all the rural accents. This video is not scripted - that was my honest reaction to trying to pronounce the name. Please get over your feigned indignation.

  • @UnculturedProject this is not a rural name sir.people are all over the world migrating from one place to another with that name.i dont know anyone famous with that name but there is a councilor in Tower Hamlets, london with that name.since migration got so easy at this days, no name are rural.if you say this name is rural than i would like to know whats your name.

  • @warcriminal71 I'm glad you asked. My name is Shawn (same as Sean or Shaun). Yet, just like I have trouble pronouncing names of those I meet in Bangladesh, Bangladeshis have trouble pronouncing my name. They say "Swan", "Sho-han", "Shoe-wan" and a few others.

Why don't you criticize the content of my videos instead of my ability to pronounce things?

  • @warcriminal71 go jump off a bridge u fag

  • @warcriminal71 This young man is doing SO much to help these families and TRY to make their lives better. Clean water, a decent school..small things that mean so much to them. This kid has left his home in Canada to spend his youth helping these people and YOU have the audacity, the nerve, the mind, to say you are "shocked" he could not pronounce a name? SHAME on you! What is "shocking" to me is that people who do nothing and show no compassion have the heart to attack those who DO do something

  • Hammocktime2002 what a disgusting comment, what do you do to help others..show us all, who cares where he is from or his weight, show us what you do for others...i dare you, you stupid idiot

  • Hammocktime2002 what a disgusting comment, what do you do to help others..show us all, who cares where he is from or his weight, show us what you do for others...i dare you, you stupid idiot

  • @Raylzway And you do...what? Absolutely nothing but

  • @Raylzway What do you do?

  • I was just about to make a comment about helping this in the US, but realised that you are NOT a US citizen, only someone who jumped the border to steal an education here...typical lib

  • @hammocktime2002 Please see my video "Fighting Hunger in America". Cheers.

  • @hammocktime2002 Die in a fire ! you are not of any use on this planet.

  • @nutzw1 You sure as shit are NOT

  • @hammocktime2002 /worst comeback ever. Grow some balls.

    Then jump in a fire.

  • @nutzw1 LOL---this comment from some piece of crap Romanian. LMAO

  • having a chat with you is like talking to a wall... pointless

Now excuse me while i flag and block you for spam. Have a nice day.

    And jump in a fire.

  • @hammocktime2002 Wow, Don't you get it? Everyone wants you to die for being a piece of shit. Next time don't comment saying stupid crap like that. At least he's not at his house watching some porn and wasting his life away.

  • @lmaothe1 Spoken as a true kid. The US has shipped enough of our tax dollars to help the deadbeats and losers of the world. It's time for the US to take care of its own business.

  • @hammocktime2002 Oh yes. The U.S. needs to take care of their own business such as, of course paying off the debts that your "Great" country owes to other countries. In a way helping out these other countries that are in crisis is TAKING CARE of the U.S. business, you dumb hick.

  • @lmaothe1 Who gives a crap?

  • @lmaothe1 Trash is trash

  • @hammocktime2002 Cute, I guess by saying trash is trash it just shows me that you can't make up an argument to mine. It's almost funny how pathethic it is. Just shows that you need more education lil boy.

  • @lmaothe1 You are some worthless piece of crap...get out of the guetter and get a job

  • LOL-UnwashedProject looks like he hasn't missed any meals! How funny is it that this fatty can present itself to these people!

  • @hammocktime2002 haha - you made a fat joke! How do you come up with such never-before-made observations and jokes?

  • Should be more like "unwashed" project

  • @hammocktime2002 In much the same way your username should be "hatertime" instead of "hammocktime".

  • This is the crap that is coming to the US

  • @hammocktime2002 *looks at your username* You mean hammocks?

  • @UnculturedProject No...I have a second home in Hammock, unwashed.

  • that's very nice of you help poor people

  • DAMALS, THERE WAS EXTREME CHILD POVERTY IN EUROPE, TOO!!!!!!!!

In A Modest Proposal Swift adopts the persona of a concerned economist who suggests that, in order to better combat the poverty and overpopulation of Ireland, the children of the poor be sold as food to the wealthy. As a result, he argues, not only will the population be reduced, but the income of the poor will increase significantly as they sell their children.....

  • Dear Uncultured Project, I know that the utiltarian calculus theory is received wisdom. But it has been challenged, convincingly in my opinion, by such birth control researchers as Malcolm Potts and his team at Berkeley, whom I took classes from (at a graduate level). The idea that children are ever a 'plus' on a long-run balance sheet from parents' points of view has been challenged by a number of long-term cliometric reviews. It all adds up.

  • @Artaudin2 I have to strongly disagree. I'm not saying that the scholars you believe in are wrong. But, based on what I've seen first hand, based on the history I have reviewed, based on the health workers I have talked to, based ont he experts I have heard, and based on the data I have reviewed - pulling people out of poverty, reduces the birth rate. Forget about what adds up on your paper, what I see with my eyes is what I trust the most.

  • @UnculturedProject: The scholars that I have studied with wouldn't disagree with you: they would simply posit that reducing the birth rate also has a strong effect on reducing poverty, and can be done first, rather than as a byproduct, for more reliable effect. They cite China's policies as an extreme example, as reprehensible as some things that happened there were.

There is of course a chicken and egg aspect to the problem. Anyways, I have nothing but respect for what you do.

  • This video is definitely a service. I have just one question; is it really so easy to substantiate that in this case the high birth rate was really the result of proper utilitarian calculations, rather than a combination of poor access to birth control and a need for self-fulfillment through children when other avenues are lacking? I ask because that is the general diagnosis many scholars have come to.

  • @Artaudin2 As someone who studied this issue at the Ph.D level and who is currently typing this in a conference full of health experts in the developing world, I can assure you that your claim that the "general diagnosis many scholars have come to" couldn't be further from the truth.

  • The lazy ones are the parents who force their children into manual labor.

  • haha he said johnny lol

  • I think these kids are better than kids where i am. All kids want to do here is play playstation and spend money/ There they seem much mature.

  • I'm going to go there this summer to visit my grandparents, Imagine if I gave them like 10 bucks, half their salary in a month. Epic Reaction :O

  • Poor Kkids if they do not work how they will survive. Their parents are poor too. Finanacial survival is not easy as per the slide film shown.

  • UncuIturedProject

  • Beautfiul!

I saw a lot of this kind of thing when I was in Haiti, and next year I'll travel around the world - sure to see a lot more. I'm always blown away by their ability to smile so big. Makes me never want to make a grouchy face again in my life. ^_^

  • so there its legel for kids to have real jobs :O thats sad :(

  • no they don't get paid so it's not legal jobs

    it's kinda like here

u help ur parents for free

    they do the same

  • Actually, redwoodresidence, you're wrong. These kids work for real employers are are paid real cash. Not a lot. But it isn't at all the same as doing chores for your mom and dad. That kind of equivalency is does a disservice to the issue of child labor in Bangladesh.

  • Heya, I just responded to the person who replied saying they aren't real jobs. They definitely are and child labor in Bangladesh is definitely real.

  • its crazy how the world works from all these jobs to making new jobs to making new stores, i see all this space in the world from the country to riding on the highway to a new city, america can because we have the materials to make it , but why , nobody invests bullshit government thats rich of their asses that only want their own...this world has alot of money, just remember when god asks yoou ..............all i have to say............................have u done enything good in ur life....

  • lol. theres nothing wrong being called johhny and being muslim.

  • definitely not - it just through me off for a second. Since so many of the names I had to memorize were really different. Also, there was a Catholic community not far - so it was entirely possible he was from that community.

  • i went to bangladesh to see my family! i ALWAYS see poor kids on the street. its absolutely GREAT, what you're doing. god bless you man!

  • i realy reali realyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy mrs ma mother country

buh gowin bk yard on nvmber 22nb 2double09

    keep it up thou

  • It's sad that it has such a high population yet the layman doesn't know much about it.

  • Aww... I miss my mother country...

  • Johny was thinking in his head, "What a dick. Whats you name asshole? " LOL

  • haha - OR he was thinking "That's a valid question, because there is a Christian community five minutes away full of villagers with Western sounding names" :)

  • lmao

  • the poor not always lazy completely true..but how about intelligent? the world is fair on the base of evolution regulations.

  • How can their population be intelligent, when they have little to no access to education?

And the reason why they can't afford any education in the first place, is because Europe and the US is harvesting every single penny of out Africa. Greedy cunts.

  • alota american names cam from bangladesh or other countries jhonny did too

  • Thanks for the shoes

  • MAN you gotta improve your bangla.

  • I wanna brush up on my Swahili first :P

  • Johny lol

  • MY DADDY LIV DER

  • I am very happy that there are people like you on this planet who take the initiative to make this World a better place for the less fortunate. Good on you.

  • lol, johnny.

if only bangladesh could help the poor more.

  • lol johnny... when i went to bangladesh i started filming cuz i didnt wanna forget my country and all the kids on the streets started to show off and stuff... and u can easily tell thier showing off lol

  • fuck man.

some of these kids are the most well behaved little angels ever.

youle never hear a peep of complain from any of them no matter what u ask them.

    their parents should be proud.

    God bless.

  • true, kids in the US complain if you ask them to wash dishes...

  • I wonder what the people in these countries are like, maybe less greedy and deluded than us so called fortunate ones..

  • Who gives a shit?

  • LOL at your more "serious note" CrunkWithASkunk. If you were serious at all you wouldn't have spammed so many videos with the same comment.

Judging by your knowledge of Bengali (better than mine as you point out) - I take it you've got a Bengali background and come from a rich enough family to have access to high speed internet.

So instead of commenting on the poverty - what do you do? Comment on my weight & Bengali. And people wonder why I say rich Bengladeshis don't care about the poor...

  • thank you...... this is the same thing i was gonna say..... by bakground is from bangladesh, and i care for the poor.....

al tho my family is in US now i still care for the poors and im happy that u care a lot for them...

  • RESPECT. :)

    God bless them <3

  • "johnny" LOOOL

  • As long as people of Bangladesh are willing to work to change their life, we can make all this misery go away. Khilafah will provide both the work and the housing to the people of Bangladesh, which is not even a problem. All they will need to do is work for it.

Population of Bangladesh is not a problem but is an asset. We will use this asset the most creative way imaginable. You will see.

  • Thank you so much for your efforts... this is truly inspirational, and I only hope that one day I can make as much of a positive difference in our world.

  • LOL jonny

  • i saw the nerd fighters or something and he was talking about you and bangladesh is the best

  • i just returned back from Bangladesh from a 3 month trip. I went back there after 7 years. It felt nice there. And it feels nice here also to see that someone like you are helping so many people out. It makes me want to help out also.

  • more people should srsly watch this

  • dude, did u live in the u.s., u sound just like me and the other 1st gen bengalis here in nj. Did u like visit bangladesh or something. and ya they do have western names its funny one of the cajer manush in my grandmas house's name is peter lol.

  • I grew up a bit in NJ. Florham Park...

  • I can see the presenter eyes that his parents came from that poverty, how did you laugh when he said his name was jhonny,

  • My videos are not scripted. That was my immediate reaction to hearing that name. The context is that I had visited two different villages: one where children had very Western sounding names (David, Michael, James, etc) and another (the one seen here) had kids with Bengali names (on top of a regional dialect) which was hard for me to pronounce. A name like "Johnny" stuck out for me. If I had filmed 360 degrees you'd realize everyone else understood why I laughed - no disrespect was given/intended

  • it was perfect

  • Very Nice V-Clip. Whats the presenter's Biography? He speaks ex.bengali. Thank you very much for uploading an exceptional Video.

  • well done to this lad !!!!

  • Indeed it is true that poor and third world people seem much happier than we in the western world. How come we have everything material we wish and still need therapy or prozac? Maybe we forget our problems or don't wish too much or complain when daily life is a struggle just to get the basic needs. I sometimes almost feel ashamed to be born in the wealthy west where many people still are too egocentric. I hope these children get the chances they deserve.

  • @arafel1964 Liberal guilt, it's a disease. Go to a doctor and get rid of it.

  • @arafel1964 umm if u dont want ur money I will gladly take it off ur hands and invest it lol

  • They may be poor but they are very happy children. They all seem neat and clean as well. All the rich kids here in America are nasty and never smile and the kids here take no pride in their appearance. Just a thought.

  • Does anyone in industrial countries ...:Dunderstand?Wasalaamu aleik. best wish

  • omg,,, I use like 400 taka in the cafeteria every day :S

  • LOL the whole system in Bangladesh is corrupt. Both the Prime Minister got arrested, were just released a few months ago, what have they done for these poor people so far? We need a pm or president who is actually well educated ot from bd but from a foreign country.

  • say something original, that statement is not worn out

  • correction ... "is now worn out"

  • These kids need to be well educated. The presidents should spend money on building schoools and improving health care. Hate the corrupt Presidents and the member of parliaments.

  • Sadly third world country mostly put their money on developing city area because city area cost generate more money for them rather then putting them on rural area.

    It's not the president's fault.

  • 3rd world country such an outdated term correct terms are now developed countries, developing country, least developed country least developed countries are the true "3rd world" countries such as those hes visiting developing countries = chile, argentina, brasil , colombia etc which are years ahead of african countries

  • Who gives a shit about the "correct term"? God political correctness annoys me.

  • Very nice, Shawn! I wonder though, isn't being in poverty in Bangladesh different then being in poverty in the USA for example? I have worked in a rural area in Thailand and understand the communities in these countries are tightly knit, unlike the States for instance. So people, are more prone to stay in poverty because of that. In the States, however, everyone is for themselves, hence, a greater motivation to get out of it. What is your take on this?

  • I never thought of it like that... but now that you mention it, it's not uncommon for people who are slightly better off than others in rural villages to "hide" their wealth. Many families won't use their money to raise their living standards or invest because they worry about being seen as rich and wealthy.

That's definitely something to think about...

  • I am assuming you are referring to my previous comments, what I meant was since these communities are tightly knit there is a comfort level, unlike the States. So, people are more prone to stay in their community despite living in poverty because they are comfortable and probably grew up in these communities? Maybe, it would be better to develop the communities themselves an have residents contribute?.....which you are probably doing. This kind of work intrigues me tremendously.

  • Oh there definitely is a tight-knit environment in communities. But people aren't more prone to stay if there is a better opportunity elsewhere. Sometimes it means leaving to go to the city (and thus you have over urbanization). Sometimes it means leaving the country and becoming a guest worker. Close knit for sure - but definitely a lot of out migration for opportunities whenever possible... which comes with its own pros and cons.

  • I see.

I been trying to get a job with an NGO for quite sometime now. I spent over 4 years in Asia teaching English and Mathematics, 2 of which was spent in Thailand. I wonder, if you have any suggestions? Thanks.

  • I'm a fan of Save the Children - but I haven't really looked much into their hiring policies and stuff. Most NGOs require you to have a Masters degree unfortunately...

  • I am aware of the Masters degree requirement, but there are organizations that require a BA. Well, keep up the great work Shawn!

  • Man,

    Good stuff!

Shawn keep up the wonderful work as long as you can!

  • we can learn alot from these people, dont misunderstand me but one day we will have too many people on earth some must die and i am sorry for that but there is no other way hope you understand me

  • i think u're doing a great job. it's nice to see that someone actually cares and is doing the right thing to get the message across. r u bengali?

  • nyc

  • ur doing a great job man...pls dont let urself be disheartened....diff ppl r diff...keep up ur good work :)

  • thanks mourichika - as you can see, a lot of people (like mino2009) have quite the axe to grind. In the face of haters like that, thoughtful support like yours means a lot :)

  • Wel y wudnt ya? The story gets more dirty from here so u had to save yourself. But ofcourse U had no plans fom the start and thats why you failed to make any real point. U just made a trip all the way to bd without a plan but with a camcorder. How posh! And learn the language. We learn english wen we go to US. Next time you come to bd speak to us in bangla. Dont worry we wont laugh at you if you make bits of mistakes. We are not uncultured u see?

  • "Posh"? "Stupid Pity"? "Rubbish work"? "Rubbish personally"? Please take your axe and grind it elsewhere.

  • What you are doing is just silly advertisements. Do something real, something worthwhile. And yes, I have done it and still working for it. The price some of us had to pay was high as well. We didn't prance around saving our asses doing bits of work for show off. Some of these kid's parents force these kids to go to work instead of school. They work 20hrs fr 5tk.@ work plus they are constanty assaultd by employers.Missd all that didnt ya?

  • as in these kids are forced to chose between earning a living and education. If you have taken a step to make scuh documentaries I suggest you preparea script as well. I am not putting you off though. Very few ppl can see the sense of what you are doing. So your initiative is brilliant but your work isnt. As for me, I used to work as a journalist with NewAge newspaper, writing mostly about child rights and women freedom. Have writtn for 6yrs but now I am with UN. The name's Mehrin Lubna.

  • This isn't a documentary. This is a video done by someone who flew to Bangladesh with nothing more than a camcorder, a laptop, and barely enough time for a second take (let alone scripting of events).

I'm constantly disappointed how well-to-do Bangladeshis such as yourself from within Bangladesh & rich enough to be able to see my videos (while 80% of the country earns less than $2 a day) usually have more criticism than praise for my work.

  • Please dont pretend that you know me when you dont know me at all. I never had enough money to buy a camcorder so I wrote instead. That was my way of helping the poor and I started when I was 15. And nobody needs to start doing what you are dong just to judge it simply. Afer all it is not a masterpiece of any sort that only the most experienced can evaluate.

  • In your half dozen comments on this video you've called my work rubbish, me as a person rubbish, posh, showing off, and a few other things.

"Please don't pretend that you know me when you don't know me at all". I sincerely hope you one day take your own advice.

  • All I can say is that you could have done better. Instead of asking silly questions like "how do you spell shafiqul" or "Tumi muslim but your name is Johnny", other factual issues could have been covered.

  • hey, mino, you have a YouTube account. Feel free to upload something better.

The way I see it, asking "silly questions" in a video (this isn't a scripted video - just raw footage in some quick edits) is still better than anonymously criticizing someone :P

  • omg, there is no reason to snap back like that. I think it is wonderful that you have taken the initiative but there were few flaws in your work. First, although you started with a brilliant topic you ended up making no point and second you sounded a bit snobby while interviewing kids. You said that you met 30 kids. I am sure you asked pretty good questions but all you put up are the ones that didnt prove the main topic you had to prove...

  • If you aren't a random hater (or a rich servant and chauffeur owning Bangladeshi who likes to critique those who try and help the poor in Bangladesh) than I suggest you try and do this yourself before you start pointing out flaws and throwing around phrases like "your initiative is brilliant but your work isn't".

  • From what I can see your work is as rubbish as you are personally as a person. We have been kicked out of the country for trying to help those. What you are doing has been done a thousand times by NGOs. These kids dont need to be taped like they are animals in a zoo or laughed at like you did in you pecious video. They need real help not your stupid pity.

  • This reply is not such for you mino - you're baseless hatred is more than apparent - it's for anyone else who has similar concerns or thoughts.

I follow the highest standards when it comes to treating those in my videos fairly. I have publicly written and spoken out against what many call "the pornography of poverty". I also do my best, within my meagre means, to help those that I meet. Which, anyone who took just a minute or two extra to learn more about my work would already know.

  • All I can say is thank you, what an inspiration.

  • Doing this project doesn't mean I've ruled out grad school. It's just hard to do both at the same time. And, if Bangladesh could be brought out of poverty through PhDs alone - than Bangladesh would be one of the richest countries out there. I've met more PhDs in Bangladesh and/or from Bangladesh than I can even count...
