great trickery with the volume knob, but Eddie Van Halen did it first. Respect to both though, seen them both live and both are unique in their own way. Two different stlyes and they cannot be compared either way.

It's just a trick with a volume knob on the guitar. Turn the volume off, tap or pick a note and swell the volume of gradually. You'll get this flute-like sound.

That thing on 5:35 is no actual Song.

Its a solo originally played by Brian may. Afaik he only played it live, so its on none of the Studio Records.

Look at some Live DVDs, i remember seeing it on one.
