Very good movie, way ahead of its time, great actors, great music, last Natalie's big screen appearence , which she make it good, and finally it can be seen she was a fine pianist too. I hope there will be a decent blueray release soon.
By the way: Chris W and Natalie W are so so so cute in every scene *_*
...yeah, about that song: This in fact is from a Carl Reiner / Mel Brooks routine called "The New Technique Psychiatric Society" featured on the "2000 and one" album, 1961. The album was a favorite of Natalie and her sister Lana.
So this is how the scene was cut? I taped it from television about 1987, and she did the whole thing. It's priceless and hopefully still intact.
I remember seeing this in its original theatrical presentation in 70mm 6 track stereo back in 1983. The memory sequences would fill up the screen in 70mm widescreen and is accompanied by James Horner' majestic and stirring score (with the London Symphony Orchestra) so imagine the beautiful imagery, plus aural accompaniment surrounding you. Its a terrific character moment in the film as Michael uses the Brainstorm device to better 'communicate' to his wife his feelings as if it were her own.
@Johnwrest I ran out of space but wanted to ask where this clipl came from. Is this from the latest DVD release? The mirrored parts that mimic the 70mm Brainstorm experience are different. I miss the complete scene where Karen (Natalie Wood) finishes her song to Michael.
So let me get this straight... You take a regular home movie, play it back while projecting the Windows Beziers screen saver onto your face, and somehow this makes you aware of when one of the people on the screen gets a hard on?

It's a secret, but this film is more relevant now than ever. Top ten sequences from 1980s film, no question.
