it is a torture machine! It's an epilator i think but it plucks out all of your leg hairs and it's supposed to be better. but I have no balls so i have to shave them.

i only get irritation in certain areas on my legs when i shave, so can i just use the salicylic acid in those spots instead of everywhere else i shave at?

i already commented on this vid once but i had to come back and THANK YOU for this tip. i did my brows 2 days ago at the salon (threading) and before i went i used the 3% salicylic acid cream i have and it was AMAZING there was absolutely no irritation afterwards (usually i get irritation and itchiness that lasts four days and i end up hurting myself from all the itching) so this was a wonderful wonderful wonderful tip... thank you SO MUCH

and if those don't work for you do you use soap or a shaving cream for your legs?

after shaving my legs get itchy and i always put lotion on them and they feel better. but i do use soap to shave with.

and making sure your blade is fresh.

if you cant go with just water when shaving try a mild conditioner

Epilators aren't that bad actually. Tried one when they had a demonstration of them at a store. But, they're way to much hassle. :P

Definitly gonna try to get a hold of this salicylic acid and alcohol mix. It's always fun to get little tips like this. :)

Another slightly wierd tip is deodorant. I think it's the alocohol in it that helps to prevent irritation. It works, but not amazingly... Would rather try the salicylic acid than slapping deodorant all over my legs. :)

i have very dry skin, so i use a body wash that is very rich. i use it to shave also, and that helps to reduce irritation. more expensive razors seem to help me, especially the kind with 4 blades. i have tried cheaper razors and they really didn't work for me.lotion for sensitive skin after shaving is good too. i also make sure that i've allowed a few minutes for the steam from the shower (or hot water from a bath) to soften the hair. those are my tips, and they probably aren't anything new.

Neat tip:) I avoid irritation by: exfoliatin regularly, keeping my razor clean and dry when not in use, and shaving in the same direction of the hair growth. Oh and I just use soap or hair conditioner to shave with. LOL! But I heard that Alba Botanica makes a good shaving cream for very sensitive skin.

I have found that I can only use certain razors or my skin will be irritated--Venus Embrace or Venus Breeze are good. And usually a good rich shaving gel. Otherwise my legs are irritated & itchy after shaving.

Oh yes. Many years ago I used to have one of those Epilady hair removers with the spinning coil. It worked really well but...OUCHIE! What sadistic person invented that thing?! :O

i think the reason your legs burn after you shave is because of the alcohol. maybe if you used a solution with a different base it won't sting?

that's right, but alcohol is needed to desinfect damaged parts of the skin after the razor.

You can:-) I bought some from the salon that I used to go to and it worked really well. Use it for 2 to 3 weeks afterwards and you won't experience any irritation.

this works :D you can also try an acne astringent that contains salicylic acid with a bit of baby oil mixed in. light exfoliation will also keep the hair follicles clean and help prevent bumps and irritation :)
