My Dad died young, from being 4 hours in freezing water after his ship was sunk by a Dornier bomber, while en-route to Murmansk with cargo for the Red Army. He was one of 8 who survived from a crew of 68. When he died, I was 5 years old, & we were in the bush in Africa.

During this time more than 1000 port-dwellers? were hospitalised with(?) first degree (wounds/burns?). The city was almost obliterated by the air."
