There is a manga, but I strongly suggest watching the anime to get the full effect. You miss out on the art and music otherwise, which is a big part of what makes it a great show. It's only 12 episodes, so you could easily finish it over a slow weekend.

I've seen this trailer after I finished the series. It's super epic! However I wouldn't recommend this trailer to someone who hasn't watched Madoka yet since it reveals too much about the series' tone.

Episode 3 was so hardcore because it trolled you and then r**** you hard in the a** in the most unexpected fashion. It wouldn'T have been so effective for me if I knew what kind of direction this Anime was going to take.

@lightmermaidprincess the trailer shows you that the show is pretty dark. it takes away the effect of surprise because the show starts very "girly" and reveals its true tone after few episodes with some unexpected crazy twists

@ltran90 Actually, PMMM is still kinda "dark" even before it gets /dark/ it just requires a bit of in between the line reading.

@Dragonriderperson You can maybe read the between plot and guess that shit is happening, but the tone was definitely very happy with bright colors, girly characters who are laughing all the time. well at least its my opinion. i also could smell something fishy about kyubey but i still got surprised about the change of atmossphere.

Haha! A well crafted trailer that in contrast to most Hollywood trailers these days, does not reveal the whole plot in one trailer. It represents really well what the mood is throughout the series and will surely, as i can see in the comments, interest people in watching this series. Well done good sir!

I have to second what rsblueocean said. This is the best trailer for this show I've ever seen and I've only been able to find it here. While all the mainstream official trailers for the show paint a deceptively cheerful image of the show, this trailer hints at what it really is without spoiling anything important beyond the first few episodes.
